Walking through the large glass double doors, Firosa Wrath entered into a large conference room on the 666th floor. A meeting was about to take place with her father and the rest of the board members to discuss this years company projections. Wrath had been dreading it all week.
"Hello father." Wrath greeted with a stone cold expression as she sat down at the conference table beside him. Everyone was still making idle chitchat as they waited for the last few board members to be seated.
Her father was never really cold to her or even absent, he was just more of a stern robot. It's only in these last couple years that she's been seeing him lighten up. So when he didn't even look over to greet her, it caught her off guard. As she looked around it seemed like everyones eyes were watching her. Only being distracted by her father suddenly standing up.
"We have something very important to discuss." Her father started after the last person was settled.
"As you know Wrath has been my right hand these last few years." He said as he gestured to his daughter causing eyes to again fall on her.
"As a lot of you know, we are decades ahead of schedule and we owe our thanks to her and her ongoing hard work." He continued and they began to clap in agreement.
It was no lie that in the past few years it has been her ideas and motivation that had Hell Industries moving properly.
"Whats going on?" She asked. Her furrowing brows breaking her other wise flawless features.
"It's time that we talk about my retirement and what it would mean for all of us. We've thought very hard on it and decided that you would be the perfect replacement."
"Really?" Wrath asked excitedly, trying to hold back her emotions but not quite succeeding.
"Really!" Her tall, slender assistant Kamini told her trying to contain a smile while sitting across from her.
"You just have to complete a few tasks and your father steps down." Jamie told her in his usual smug tone.
Both Kamini and Wrath gave each other an annoyed side glace at his pretentious tone.
He was the reason she had such a distaste for the Succu/Incubus community that he represented on the board. Jamie was a Cambion. Which is an offspring caused by human and Succu/Incubus coupling. Though they were normally very arrogant, most were extremely tolerably, but not Jamie. Jamie was a dick and had no problem letting Wrath know what he thought of her. She worked so hard to get where she is but according to that jerk, she's had everything given to her because her daddy is Lucifer himself. It really wasn't something she gloated about. It's only ever made her job that much harder.
"What do I have to do?" She asked her father inquisitively. Almost dreading his answer. He wasn't known for making things easy, especially for her.
"I need you to find all your brothers and sisters." He said dryly.
"You've got to be kidding me? There's got to be hundreds of those little bastards." Wrath said with an eye roll and a sigh.
"There's only 6." Her fathers secretary, a demon who looked to be in his mid 20s, explained handing her their files. Anton continued,
"Wrath you and your siblings are very important to what's to come."
"Whats to come?" She asked.
"The end of the world." Jamie told her with a grin.
"You and the other deadly sins will be the ones to help start it. I guess maybe you are more than just a pretty face after all."
"Deadly sins?" Wrath looked at her father. "You mean the seven deadly sins?" She sat back in her chair stunned.
"Yes. Lust, Gluttony, Sloth, Greed, Pride, Envy and you, Wrath." Jamie went on, "Do you need me to explain each one to you?"
There was that condescending tone again. Wrath mentally gritted her teeth. She always did everything she could to ensure they never saw any emotion out of her. She never wanted to give them, especially Jamie, the satisfaction of knowing they got to her.
"No I think I got it, thanks." She asserted.
"You need to be able to convince all of your siblings to help. They each are able to summon one of the seven gates. Once you are all at the same place, you will need to summon them, open them and then your father will be able to come through them. By doing so he will open up the gates of hell and we will finally rule topside." Anton explained triumphantly. Everyone around the table cheered except for Wrath who stayed emotionless.
Anton tried to help her make sense of all of this. Although he was thousands of years older than Wrath, he had become her best friend. Almost like a big brother. He had been working for father for such along time that it was hard to think of a time before Anton wasn't around.
The rest of the meeting went by like a blur it was hard to take in anything that they were saying. All that hung in her mind was 'so much for that.' She had so many plans but now it seems there was more work to be done. When was it ever going to be enough?
"Are you okay babe?" Kamini asked her as she handed her a glass of wine. They were now in the spacious modern living room in the flat they shared together.
"Yeah." Wrath told her accepting it and grabbing hers as well, setting them both on the table next to them. Grabbing Kamini's arms to gently pull her to the couch with her and into her arms.
"Is it okay to be mad that my father named me after my sin and it's not just some cool edgy name like I thought it was?" She cracked a hint of a smile before giving Kamini a kiss.
"Baby," Kamini started while cupping Warth's face in her hands, staring deep into her crimson eyes "it's still a cool edgy name. Are you mad that you're just now finding out?"
"Well yeah, thanks for the heads up by the way." Wrath teased lightly smacking her butt before moving her to the side of her so she could get up.
"You know they didn't tell me until right before you got there. Even then, they only told me about the promotion. I didn't know about the stipulations or about the deadly sins part."
"I know." She told her giving her a peck on the forehead. Her dad was always secretive about everything.
"Are we at least going to celebrate? You got the promotion!"
"I haven't gotten it yet, I still have to convince the others to help." She explained as she grabbed her glass to take a sip.
"That shouldn't be hard, I've never met anyone that could say no to you." Kamini said giving her a kiss.
"So how about we order some take out, watch a movie and celebrate? This is the first step to our future and us finally being able to settle down. No more of your father standing in our way."
Wrath had been dating Kamini since high-school. She knew she wanted to settle down and start having little demons of our own. Wrath had been wanting to propose to her for years now but with her father always standing in the way and always wanting her to put the family business first, her love life has been put on the back burner.
"I want to start our life, I want to start a family of our own." Kamini pouted.
"I know love. We're almost there." She gave her a reassuring kiss.
"Pick out a movie while I go order some Thai food okay?"
Wrath didn't know how this was going to work out. She had never felt nervous like this before and she didn't like it.
Even proposing didn't seem like it would be as hard as this.
Her siblings have been on earth their wholes lives, who's to say they haven't been poisoned by it? Her father had warned her this wouldn't be easy. Each of her siblings came from different beings and backgrounds. Apparently some didn't even know that they were supernatural let alone the spawns of the devil himself. I didn't ask for this. She sighed to herself as she pulled a menu from a magnet off the front of the refrigerator.
The next morning.
"More stipulations, why does he keep dangling this on the hook like this?" Kamini said furiously.
"It's my father, do you really expect any different?" Wrath sighs as she sips her coffee while sitting at the kitchen island.
Her father was making Anton accompany her topside since it was her first time. She wanted to protest more but the truth is she wouldn't mind having some help understanding topside and it's culture. She has always heard horror stories about it and how disgusting humans and some of the supernatural were.
However she wasn't allowed contact with down here until she came back in two week and on that stipulation, neither Kamini or Wrath were happy.
"I'll call you as soon as I can. I love you." Wrath told her.
"I love you too." Kamini told her. She sounded so heartbroken over the phone.
Wrath took one last look at herself in the mirror, her raven black hair was tied into a sleek ponytail. Black cat line eyeliner framed her intense crimson eyes. Wearing a long pencil skirt and suit jacket, she slipped on her black stiletto heels and was ready to leave.
She had already said her goodbye to Kamini earlier before she left for work and Wrath was now left alone in the giant condo with her even bigger thoughts. With one last deep breath she turned off the lights and headed out.
"You ready?" Anton asked when she approached him.
"Yeah, as ready as I'll ever be." She greeted him.
"Look, before we get there, we need to go over some stuff."
"Okay?"
"No eye contact or talking to strangers okay?." He warned.
"Okay father." She teased him rolling her eyes as she turned to get in to the car that was waiting for them.
"I'm serious!" He said grabbing her shoulders and stopping her from getting in.
"And I'm not a child." She demanded straightening herself. He lessened his grip a bit but kept his hands gently resting on her shoulders.
"No but you are the daughter of a devil and with that you have a certain sway on other beings so no contact with anyone but your siblings or this could be messy. You guys won't be effected by each other's charms and neither will higher level demons like myself. Now, I don't want to be topside any longer than I have to so I'd like this to run as smoothly as possibly." Antons tone was hard and more serious than usually causing Wrath to straighten up a bit. She was already nervous and seeing Anton's worry wasn't helping.
"I was just there and it just makes you feel all sorts of ways so we need to get all of your siblings down here as soon as possible where everyone can think clearly with out topside influence." He was trying to lighten his tone up. He released her shoulders and let her get in the car. Getting in on the other side before the driver drove off.
But how hard could it really be? Wrath thought to her self. All she had to do was convince her siblings who are complete strangers to her and completely oblivious about their father, to meet up and open some gates that will destroy everything they've ever know.
Sounds easy enough . . . right?
