The wait was agonising.
Whenever they were not training, Marcus could only speculate on what exactly they were going to face. While information is supposed to ease the burden of worry on one's mind, an insufficient amount of information can just as easily increase the worry that one would feel.
They knew that the giants were released weekly to transport things to the cities from the West. They also knew that they were given an escort of men, but did not know how many people that would be. For all they knew, it could just be one of the giants and a handful of men, but it could just as easily be hundreds of men and dozens of giants. Naturally, Marcus hoped it would be the former but, knowing how the world worked he could only anticipate the latter happening.
