Chapter 13 - THE NAUGHTY KUNTILANAK

"Come on, don't cry. The most important thing is that you understand and don't repeat such nosy things to other people who come to this place," Brian said soothing a sad Sabina, "Thankfully, the new occupant of this room is me. Indirectly I broke the bad myth that circulated in this apartment, "continued Brian proudly.

"Gosh… you're getting arrogant!" Sabina grumbled but after that, she smiled.

'You're more beautiful smiling than sad, Sabina,' Brian said to himself with a smile.

"I'm proud of myself for being able to survive in a place like this. What's the reason I'm not staying here anyway? In this room, I live with a beautiful woman who cares for me. It feels like I just have a girlfriend, hahaha!" Brian laughed contentedly while teasing Sabina.

Throw!

A small square sofa cushion landed on Brian's face and startled him. But after that Brian laughed again when he saw Sabina whose face was getting redder. Brian was very satisfied with teasing Sabina tonight. Gone was the tiredness of working all day after seeing Sabina's sweet smile.

"But wait!" Brian suddenly stopped laughing as he remembered something, "You said earlier that you weren't alone. You're with the woman I didn't want to mention earlier, right?" continued Brian asked and Sabina nodded casually.

"Seeing your expression like this, I advise you not to know more. Maybe that woman is not good for you," said Sabina.

"I don't want to know about her, but the more I hear you say 'no' the more interested I become. Tell me a little bit about it!" Brian urged Sabina in a half-whisper.

"Okay if you insist. I'm not lying when I say there's a female ghost here. She's Lala's friend who Lala asked to teach me to use my concentration to be able to touch objects around me and even make objects float," Sabina began to tell the story.

"Maybe when I wasn't like this, I thought that supernatural things like ghosts didn't exist. But that's the reality that I'm experiencing now. I live with that female ghost now. It was scary and weird at first, but over time I got used to it and maybe I admired it a little. Miss K looks cool because she can teach me interesting things!" Sabina tells about her admiration for the ghost woman who is often known as Kuntilanak.

The fine hairs on Brian's body stood up with goosebumps. Brian was even more surprised at Sabina. How could Sabina be able to stand living alone with the ghost in the house, even she admired the ghost of the woman. Even though it's unclear what status Sabina is in herself, it's still something like being friends with a ghost, which feels weird and scary according to Brian.

"So, is that woman here now?" Brian asked doubtfully as he cast his eyes in all directions.

"What do you see? Why are you asking me, can't you see ghosts all around you huh?" Sabina asked back.

"Not all supernatural beings like that can be seen by me. Sometimes I don't even know if there's a ghost beside me. I can see strange things like that if my body is in certain circumstances such as when I'm sick or because I'm unlucky. After all, no human would want to see such a strange thing," Brian replied as he explained.

"Mmm, fine. I understand," replied Sabina who understood what Brian meant, "Miss K is not here right now. But she also rarely lingers in here with me. She preferred to sit on the porch railing swinging her legs and laughing. But it seems that Miss K is unstable. She laughed at first but then wept. Sometimes I get confused."

With a relaxed expression, Sabina told about the nosy Kuntilanak who was the guard at the apartment room.

"This is crazy! How could there be such a thing?" Brian grumbled while shaking his head.

"As I said earlier, it was scary at first. But why should I be afraid when Tata is brave and befriends her? After all, Miss K is not a lot of behavior. She's just nosy and a little naughty. Like when she teases you when you fall asleep in bed after you've just finished taking a shower. She was the one who opened your towel at that time," said Sabina with a laugh.

Sabina laughed in satisfaction. She seemed very happy when she told about Tata and the ghost of the woman who guarded the room.

"Sabina, weren't you kidding when you said it was Kuntilanak who opened my towel?" Brian asked and Sabina nodded again.

"It's her. I'm not lying but you accuse me of doing such a shameful thing!" Sabina answered while grumbling.

Sabina's sure answer made Brian even more goosebumps. Brian's face looked strange and pale.

"Well, don't think about it too much. Miss K is not bad even if a little nosy. You will also get used to it later!" Sabina said calming Brian who looked very confused.

"I'm not scared at all, but if she were to peek at my Love Bird, I'd be the one to lose. I'm not married yet and feel that thing but why did she look at my thing first?" Brian protested with a ridiculous remark, "I feel bad for the woman who will become my future lover! Aaaaggrh, this sucks!" he continued grumbling and expression like a helpless person.

"Geez, looks like I said something wrong," Sabina mumbled while patting her forehead, "It's getting late, get some rest. You have to work tomorrow, right?" continued Sabina said.

"Yes, you're right. I need to rest," Brian replied, "You don't want to sleep with me too? Who knows-"

Brian's words stopped when he saw a pair of sofa cushions already floating near Sabina and looking ready to be thrown.

"Don't don't don't! I'm just kidding, Sabina. You don't have to be angry," Brian laughed as he persuaded Sabina not to throw the couch off at him.

"Don't talk carelessly, sleepover there!" Sabina spoke and with that, a pair of sofa cushions floated back into place. Sabina is seen standing and walking towards the balcony by way of breaking through the wall.

"Oh my gosh, she's pissed off so fast!" Brian grumbled, "But I love seeing her upset like that. Her face looks more human even though her shape is somewhat strange," Brian continued with a smile thinking about Sabina. Brian hurriedly lay down on his bed to sleep.

***

This morning, Sabina woke Brian up again with a loud shrill voice.

"Brian, it's already dawn but why don't you wake up too? You have to get up and get ready for work!" Sabina's voice sounded in Brian's ears like the sound of a mosquito. Of course, it sounded like a mosquito because Brian didn't want to hear the call while he was still sleeping.

"Five more minutes, Sabina… My eyes still don't want to open," Brian replied with a lazy mumble.

"Why are you being lazy like this? Get up, Brian! The sun is about to come up and you will miss your morning prayers!" Sabina was still trying to wake Brian up.

But it seemed Brian's body and eyes seemed to stick to his comfortable bed.

"If you don't get up and take a shower, then I will bring water here to bathe you!" Sabina threatened and again Brian didn't budge even though by now he could hear Sabina's voice.

"One…" Sabina started counting.

Along with Sabina's count, Brian's ears heard the sound of running water from the kitchen.

"Two… Brian, I'm not kidding with my count!" Sabina reminded me again, "Okay, looks like you want to bathe in bed, right? I'll bring-"

"Don't don't don't. I'm awake!" Brian stopped Sabina's words who were about to continue her speech.

Brian sat lazily on the edge of the bed rubbing his eyes.

"You're just like Bro Angga. Why are you both threatening me with a count and then bringing water to water me?" Brian grumbled.

"That's one of your brothers, right?" Sabina asked.

"Hmm…" Brian mumbled without wanting to speak.

"It means he is a disciplined person. Come on, let's get up and get ready!" said Sabina who kept telling Brian to get out of bed.

Sabina started heading towards the kitchen as Brian started walking towards the bathroom. But when Brian was at the bathroom door, he remembered the story Sabina told him last night.

"Sabina, what..." Brian's voice sounded doubtful, "Is that woman in there?" he continued in a half-whisper that made Sabina smile.

"Come in. There was nothing in the bathroom. If Miss K comes back, I will tell her not to bother you," replied Sabina with a smile.

Hearing Sabina's words like that made Brian a little calm.

"Okay, thanks, Sabina. I'm going to take a shower now," Brian said calmly and went into the bathroom, but a second later Brian poked his head out to turn to Sabina, "Don't you want to take a bath with me?" he continued to ask mischievously.

Sabina didn't answer at a loss for words when Brian teased her.

"Hurry up and take a shower, I'm preparing your breakfast, don't tease me anymore!" Sabina scolded him.

Brian complied with a laugh.
