Chapter 1 - Kayn Hastur

"In the name of the Head of the Hastur family, Kayn Hastur has been evicted as the heir, and you will be expelled from the family."

"What is the meaning of this father?! For all I have done in this family, now you throw me out like garbage!" Kayn couldn't help but raise his voice as his body trembled with anger.

He knew he was useless from the time he was born, which is why he tried so hard to be recognized by his family.

Time, sweat, and blood are what he sacrifices to the family to make them recognize him as more than a useless son because he is spiritless.

However, as soon as the Hastur family became the empire's richest family, he was thrown away like garbage because he was no longer useful.

He heard a whisper around him with mockery, disgust, and pity. He breathed carefully, soothing the wrath in his heart. He could no longer see the light if he let it out.

"Whatever your accomplishment, the spiritless remain spiritless, and I don't want that in my territory, do you understand, Kayn?" Mori Hastur calmly said while meeting his son's eyes.

Kayn remained silent; he couldn't argue with his father's words who believed he was always correct, no matter what his complaint it was all air in his father's ears.

"Can I meet Annie before I leave?" Kayn said softly, his gaze falling on his father's eyes.

Annie Hastur was the only family member who loved and supported him and with whom he could get along.

Mori thought for a moment before saying, "You have only ten minutes."

Kayn nodded but said nothing more because asking for more would be tantamount to asking for death.

That is the life of the spiritless, who are despised by even the spirits themselves.

...

Annie, seeing her brother sad, lifted her fist and exclaimed, "Big brother, why are you sad? tell Annie you who did this to you, and Annie will beat him up!"

Kayn chuckled as he brushed away the tears that had begun to form in his eyes.

"Your brother is leaving," he said softly.

He brings a book from his bag and gives it to his 10-year-old sister, smiling, "I'm here to say goodbye to you and give you this gift, so I hope you don't forget me."

He may like being alone, but he has never stated that he likes loneliness.

In this world, where his sister is the only family left, he at least wanted someone to remember him and support him, even if they were in a place he couldn't reach.

So, whenever he feels like giving up, he will remember who is waiting for him and will never give up.

"Ehhh?!" Annie's eyes welled up in tears, and she hurriedly said, "B-But brother, who can Annie play with? Who will tell Annie a story at bedtime? Brother, don't leave, pwease!"

"Is it because you are not elemental, brother? but Annie can, Annie will protect you!"

His heart's pain, seeing Annie's desperate expression, he wants to take her, but not knowing what his journey ahead will bring, he may be losing his life.

He shook his head and said gently, "Don't worry, your brother will return, and when I return, we'll travel to a lovely place and show you a different monster; you want it, right? You said you wanted to see the entire world, right? So, wait for your brother."

"Un," Annie nodded and said while her eyes sparkled, "Is that promise?"

"Yes," Kayn chuckled.

"Okay, Annie will wait for her brother, but you need to hurry because Annie gets bored immediately."

Kayne glances at his sister for a few seconds before leaving with sadness in his eyes.

...

"To the nearest town," Kayn said to the carriage driver.

As they got far, far away from the city, he could see many adventurers outside fighting slime or big frogs.

He then looked at the city that was getting smaller and smaller, the city where he grew up, where he met new people, and sighed.

The light that should guide him out of the darkness leaves him in the darkness with a small light bulb that gets dimmer and dimmer.

Kayn shakes his head, realizing that it is pointless to think about the past; he must concentrate on the present.

The book has a flame design on it, with the words "Elements Spirit" written in the center, and he slowly opens it, revealing the knowledge inside.

[What is the elemental spirit?]

A question that is written on the first page

[According to the spirits themselves, they are born the moment the universe awakens.]

[An elemental spirit is a being of water, fire, air, earth, or other elements. They were the first creatures that brought life to the universe.]

[Each of these creatures has a distinct personality and temperament, traits that are heavily influenced by the spirit's elemental nature.]

[Each spirit has a specific role to fulfill.]

[The Fire Spirit brings light to the darkness of the universe.]

[The Water Spirit and the Air Spirit purify and cleanse the universe to promote the growth of life.]

[The Earth Spirit created the earth for life to exist on it.]

There are also other spirits, some of them considered dangerous, and destructive examples of this are evil spirits.

Even though they are evil spirits, other spirits do not despise them because they believe it is their role to fulfill.

He sighed after finishing the first page and didn't continue any further because he had already finished reading this.

Even though he knows "everything" there is to know about the Spirit, he still has one question.

The phrase "spiritless" refers to someone unable to contract elemental spirits' and be hated by them.

Elemental spirits are pure, lovely beings that love life, so why do they despise spiritless people?

What is it about spiritless people that they despise?

What exactly is spiritless?

That's the question that's been bothering him, and he feels there's a reason for it.

How can spirits despite their creations?

As he looks at the sky, he feels that his journey ahead is getting dangerous. It did not only end with him creating magic but exploring the mystery of this universe hidden in everyone's eyes.

"Ahem!"

A cough brought him back to reality. He apologized to the driver before proceeding to the town.

Heartpoint is the name of the town, which had a population of 100,000 people and was known for its prostitution, slave trade, and the black market.

He didn't come to do any of those things; he came for Alchemist Hall.

While walking, he observes the large gate. He finds a diverse range of races, from humans to beast kin, outside waiting for their turn, as well as a large number of guards stationed above the wall.

To enter the town, the guard must check your criminal record and identity, which he thought pointless, honestly, as there were many criminals inside, especially in the black market, freely getting in and out.

After a few minutes, he finally enters the town.

"Seems the news of me being cast has not come out yet; they are still calling me young master." He muttered while observing the town.

"Let's find our way to Alchemist Hall."

...

"Hello, miss," Kayn greeted the beautiful woman behind the counter.

"Hello, how may I assist you?" responded the lady, who has a professional demeanor.

"I'm here to apply for the alchemist position."

"Understood, follow me," the lady said as she led him to the room where the testing would begin.

To apply as an alchemist, one must be knowledgeable about ingredients and how to concoct potions.

There are six different sorts of rank in Alchemist: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond, Master, and GrandMaster, and your rank is determined by your performance.

"Here," the lady pointed at the door and bowed before walking away.

He gave the lady a sidelong glance before entering with solemnity.

"What is this?! It's fucking juice! I said concoct a fucking potion, not a fucking juice!"

"Faster! We don't have fucking time!"

"What the hell is this? It's not a fucking energy potion, it's a fucking steroid!"

Anger shouted immediately greeted his ears as he entered

...

Randil was stressed.

He expects them to know how to concoct a potion. It seems he expects too much.

When he looked at them, his face twitched a few times; they moved around like little girls, some even flirted, and some couldn't even follow simple orders.

"I'm getting old..."

He approached another applicant and screamed angrily, like a volcano about to erupt.

"What are you?!"

"I'm ah-human, sir," the man immediately responds while terrified.

"No! You look fucking fifty, but you can't even fucking follow simple instructions! It said before—"

"Um, hello," Kayn cut him off because he didn't want to waste time or hear another irritating shout.

"Go to that table! And follow the instructions written there," Randil pointed to the table next to a female who was also busy concocting her potion without even questioning him if he was the applicant.

Kayn nodded and went to the table.

He takes a deep breath to calm himself and thinks. With an unknown journey ahead, he must first strengthen himself.

And after that, he will create his own magic.

Others believe that creating your own magic is nearly impossible, and they must rely on elemental spirits to perform magic.

But Kayn didn't believe it because there was nothing impossible in this world.

A magic ancestor must make the impossible possible.
