Chapter 53 - Insulin

Zero heard two more separate occasions were the gun shots started firing off, and he was getting more and more sure they were coming back for his stash. As he worked, he brought the full bags of items to the stairs before leaving them and going back to continue packing. Zero found whole stores full of canned foods as well as water bottles and such. Without pause or remorse, Zero packed it all up into the bags, using one of the carts he had found to carry the bags and packs of water and soda easier.

By the time he was done filling the last bag, he had hundreds of bags full of food and drinks. The one thing Zero found that he that was the most valuable, was the can openers. Without pause, Zero placed the can openers into his Shop and priced each of them at 23,000 souls each, only keeping one for himself. Zero had already received his list of Sponsors once more, however he simply waved it away once again. He had just gotten all of the bags brought down into the basement area before he dumped four of the bags full of toys he had filled and made his way back to the second floor, more particularly to the pharmacy section of each of the stores. Zero had to use his whip to break open the locked doors, however he didn't care, as medicine would be a treasure trove later down the road.

Zero stepped into the room to find a man in a lab coat, only he was laying limp on the ground with an empty bottle by his side. Zero looked at the man for a moment before shrugging and shoving his four bags completely full of all the medicine in the room. The storage room itself was smaller, only having three separate shelves all stacked with five bottles of each medicine. Once Zero had filled the five bags, he turned toward the fridge and opened it before placing the insulin he found onto his shop for 200,000 souls a bottle, and 123,000 for each singular pen after he ripped the boxes of five open.

Zero knew that most if not all people wouldn't have enough souls to buy a single pen, let alone a bottle. However he also knew that those that survived and NEEDED insulin would have to buy it or find some themselves. Zero quickly moved the medicine back down to the basement room were he once more locked the door and sat. 'Window, show me anything the shop has that allows a room to be continuedly supplied with new oxygen.'

Zero scoffed as the list continued to go on and all the prices were in the millions at least. 'Should I just collapse the door and simply use this room as a toxic storage room?' As Zero thought about it, he slowly started going through all of the bags before putting the items into his shop. He would always look the price for the item up on the regular shop before putting it on his for around 2-40 thousand less, depending on how expensive the item was. Zero managed to get through over 20 bags before he started to get tired once again. He moved into the room from before and once more closed his eyes.

Zero was once more awoken, only this time it was from the sound of metal being struck. Zero jumped to his feet and peaked around the corner, finding every time the sound would sound out, a fist would form in the metal. Zero cursed before taking out the timepiece and checking the time, finding it showed 8:30. He figured that since he still felt mentally tired, that it was in the morning, and that he had only gotten around 6-7 hours of sleep.

Zero heard the door bar groan as it caved in. Without waiting more time, Zero left the room and sprinted towards the wall next to it. Just before he made contact with the wall, he willed his body to move through it. His entire body became hot, only it was noticeably less then before, as if instead of half breaking all of his Mana channels, it only broke them by a third. Zero closed his eyes as made contact with the wall, only to not be stopped but rather fall forward as he had been expecting counter pressure. Zero opened his eyes, only to find darkness around him.

The first thing he realized was that his feet were getting hotter faster then the rest of his body, however he didn't know why. The second thing he realized was that it would be very easy to get lost here as your sense of direction was all messed up. 'Window, what happens to a Host that can travel through walls when there mana chann-, souls run out?'

"Notice. The Host will stop being able to travel through the walls. There being will try to occupy the space they are currently in by pushing the substance they are in. Please note that if the Host is in a solid unmoving environment when they run out of souls, they will parish."

The Window was read to him, however he was only half paying attention. As he simply stood there, he feel that his Mana channels had broken another third in the small amount of time he had taken to ask the window a question. Zero pushed forward, as he knew there was a small hallway directly on the other side of the wall. Zero felt his hand breach air first, before quickly jumping forward and arriving on the other side of the wall.

Zero collided with something, causing him to look over, only to find a rough looking human. Zero looked around, finding that the entire hallway was filled with what looked like refugees, their clothes being in tatters and there skin either bloody or dark from dirt. There was a shout, causing Zero to look over and find the man he had collided with was staring at him with wide eyes. "ITS THE HOST!"

Zero lifted his hands in the universal surrender pose, before a large smile spread across his face.
