Chapter 19 - Seeker Beam

'Window! How did this bull acquire so many souls?!'

-Notice-

There are multiple ways to collect souls. In the beginning, it is recommended the Hosts kill other species from there planet to slowly collect souls.

Zero thought about something as he read the windows words. 'Does every living being on the planet possess a soul?'

-Notice-

Every native species to Planet <4391.43> Will have a soul.

Zero was confused why only those native to earth would have a soul. 'Window, why do only those native to the world have a soul?'

-Notice-

Information will be unlocked once the Host acquires the required amount of souls.

Zero scoffed at the windows lock of sorts once more, before an idea came to him. "I know how the bull got so many souls..." Zero looked around, thankful that no one heard his declaration. 'We need to find a zoo. Luckily, it seems this map was a tourist map and it shows every attraction.'

Zero looked around the rubble of the battle until he found the duffle bag. Zero picked it up and started heading for the nearest listed zoo. As he made his way towards the zoo, he decided to practice firing the gun. Although he knew it would draw attention, he also knew he wouldn't be a crack shot and he would need practice. The first multiple shots were simply at stray animals he found, the most abundant of targets being rats he found running around the large overflowing bins of garbage.

Zero went through four magazines before he figured he was good enough to hit a target if it was big enough, not moving, and closer then 20 feet. The targets he was hoping for started appearing after the fourth magazine was emptied. "GLEGUK!!" Zero turned to find four Goblins racing towards him. 'Perfect.' Zero took aim and started firing at the four as they raced towards him.

The first of the four to drop was the third farthest away from Zero. He had aimed at the first but missed, the stray bullet hitting the third in the chest and killing it instantly. Zero took out the police baton as he continued to fire, effectively hitting the first in the arm and the last in the waist. Zero took off towards the group of three. He knew he had seven bullets left in his current mag, so he saved it for close combat.

Zero reached the first Goblin and struck out with the baton, catching it in the temple and sending it off to the side. he turned his focus to the second one, the one without any injuries. Zero used his arm and the baton as a shield instead of a weapon. The Goblin lunged towards his arm, trying to bite into it. Zero had expected this, so when it made contact with his arm, the guns barrier was already pressed against its temple. *Bang!*

Zero shoved the dead body off his arm while turning to look at the fourth and last Goblin. he was surprised to find the last Goblin fleeing away from Zero rather then charging him. Zero shrugged and holstered the gun before pointing his right pointer at the Goblins back. 'Seeker Beam.' The two inch beam shot out of Zero's finger, making a b-line for the Goblin. Zero watched with a smile as the beam continued to get closer and closer until it was mere feet away from the Goblin, only for it to suddenly stop.

'Window, what is happening?' There was no response, and Zero was reminded that the window said he didn't have an ability. Zero figured that if the window couldn't help him, he would simply figure it out himself. The first thing he checked was his finger, and how much pain it was currently in. 'The pain is about half way to it breaking, so its not the Mana channel. 'A channel needs something to go through it, am I short on Mana?' Zero threw that Idea away as the beam wasn't disappearing, but rather it wasn't going any further.

Zero took multiple steps forward, finding the beam also move forward. 'Its a distance thing. It can only go a curtain distance, Interesting. The abilities up until now didn't seem to have a definitive distance, its good I figured this out before I tried to use it at long distance. Zero heard a Goblin groan from behind him. Within a split second of Zero thinking it, the straight outstretched beam did a 180 and was now rapidly moving towards Zero.

Zero turned around to find the Goblin he had hit with the baton was now on its feet and rushing towards him. Zero simply stood there watching, not moving in the slightest. As the Goblin came within five feet of Zero, it lunged at his neck, its teeth bared. Zero was doubtful for a moment as the Goblin got within a foot of his neck, however just before it made contact with him, the two inch beam came flying past Zero's head.

The beam slammed into the Goblins head, instantly killing it. Zero let out a small sigh before grabbing the 2 souls that came out of the Goblin before he continued to make his way to the zoo. As he moved he switched the magazines in his pistol before also making sure the second pistol he had had survived the impact from the bull.
