Mrs. Hugh murmured an apology over and over again, tears spilling from her eyes, blurring her vision. In a trance, it seemed as if a shadowy figure was floating in front of her.

She exclaimed in shock, reaching out to touch, but all she grasped was air, and there was nothing else, tears flowed like a breached dam.
Mr. Hugh looked sorrowful, leaning against the wall as if he had aged a dozen years in a moment.
He closed his eyes, supporting his forehead, overwhelmed with shame and self-reproach, unable to utter a single word.
