Joan Edwin glanced at the extra dish in the bowl, frowning in disgust, "Celery is utterly disgusting, why would you give it to me?"
Despite her complaints, she picked up the tender celery and shoved it into her mouth, chewing crunchily as if she had some deep-seated grudge against it.
Caroline Edwin lowered her head to eat, stating simply, "Nutrition should be balanced."
Joan rolled her eyes at her preachy words, not refuting them. During the rest of the meal, she picked up pieces of celery with the serving chopsticks several times.
Having finished their meals...
The family sat in the living room, with two platters of lychees and iced plums on the table.
Gordon Edwin picked up a clean plum, took a bite, and his eyebrows relaxed, "Not bad, both sweet and crunchy. Where did this come from?"
Caroline peeled a lychee. The fruit was beautifully white and incredibly tender, with a small kernel. It was full of meat and the juice tasted sweet.
