"..broke? what's that" Nora looked at me with questioning eyes.
"We are poor, Nora" I replied.
"Oh" She made an understanding expression and entered her own world once again. She looked around the place because she seemed to be interested in everything. It was as if she had never even joined the convo.
"Is that so?.. well it doesn't matter" The dwarf said.
"It doesn't matter? how so?" how could us being poor not matter... How will we even buy what he has to offer, I couldn't understand what he means by those words.
"I am not like the Other Dwarves and seek profit, I am purely seeking to see what the weapons I crafted myself can do while in action." He puffed up his chest proudly.
"Good for you I guess.." I did not exactly see where the convo is even going, "Do you want to give us free weapons.. or what?"
"Well not exactly for free, I want to see if you can wield them, and if you can, I will give the weapons to you for free, but-" I did not let the dwarf continue and interrupted him.
"But there is a catch"
"Hmph. Think what you want. You will just have to take me on a mission and buy me some good Beer with what you receive after completing the said mission" The dwarf told us what he wanted.
"Can't we just buy it for you after we finish a mission ourselves? why do you have to come together with us?" I tried to bargain.
"1. I wouldnt be a drag and it would most likely be me who would save your asses. 2. I don't trust you. You might run away without buying me my beer. 3. As I told you before, I want to see the weapons in action." The dwarf numbered his reasons.
"..Sure. So what weapons do you have?" I raised my brows.
"Since you are Elves I presume you are good with daggers since most of the Elves are assassin's. Am I right?" The dwarf commented.
"Well yes, but we aren't that good with daggers."
"Then what are you good at? Maybe I have something of your liking" The dwarf looked at us.
"I am good with Arrow and Bow" I answered.
"Not a rarity... And the other one?"
"Nora has talent with dual blades" I answered for her.
"Huh? how do you know that? I never used any weapons before" Nora appeared to be hearing the conversation even though she seemed to be in her own thoughts.
"Secret" I didn't want to explain too much right now.
"Dual Blades?.. Like what? Both connected to one hilt, or two separate blades?" The dwarf lifted one brow.
"I am not sure... both?"
"Either way come inside" The dwarf then led us to his blacksmithery.
The Blacksmithery was simple and not too big. It was also loaded with different medieval weapons.
He then gave us two blades and a bow with some arrows.
"So how will you test us old baldie dwarf?" Nora suddenly asked.
"DON'T CALL ME THAT YOU PERVERTED LONG EARED BASTARDS! I have a name for fucks sake.." The dwarf lost it.
"..." Nora looked at him with indifference.
"Argh! Just call me Karkayil" The Dwarf gritted his teeth.
"Charcoal?" I found it hard not to make fun of him when he made such expressions and got angry at just a little bit of provocation.
"KARKAYIL! ITS KARKAYIL!" Karkayil lost it again.
We then heard a door open and incoming footsteps
"Don't make fun of the little guy now, hahaha, I know it's fun to do so, but his head will really explode sometime, Hahaha" There stood a human like person. The thing that told us he was not human was his yellow slit eyes, that of a lizard, also his green hands and forearms that had a few spikes and claws. He had greenish black hair and was as tall as me, reaching 190 cm in height. He didn't have any fat on him unlike the dwarf infront of us that had a hill like belly.
"A Lizardman?" I asked.
"It's quite rude to ask for others race around these parts, but yes you are correct, I am indeed a Lizardman. The name is Lero, Nice to meet you" He replied.
"Cael" I nodded
"And the other pretty woman?"
"Non of your business, Lizard" She replied.
"Oof.. Harsh.." Lero pretended to be hurt.
"It's Nora.." I answered for her. What's up with this girl, is she so cold to everyone? Well I can understand her a bit... but still..
"Oh?.. Hahaha. Good good. Grab the weapons and follow me. I will be the one to test your capabilities." Karkayil nodded to himself and went towards the door he appeared from.
We grabbed the weapons given to us and followed the Lizardman into another room that was way bigger than the Blacksmithery. It kind of looked like an Inside training ground.
Lero then stopped walking and looked at us, "Entertain me! Show me what you got!" Lero quickly stood into his fighting position one arm behind his back and the other taunting us. He really looked like a battle freak.
Although we had weapons and he was barehanded, his hands might as well be weapons too, his hands did not lack toughness and his claws did not lack sharpness.
'The only thing I am worried about is that... even though I am level 10, I cannot see their level, Lero and Karkayil are both way above our levels. And how am I supposed to fight with my archery in a duel... It's 2v1.. but still... I don't know how we are supposed to win... Leros level is above mine and Noras combined, which would add up to 10, since Nora is still level 0... Well either way, if we win, I guess we will get some weapons for free' I thought and then looked at Nora.
Nora was holding her two blades facing down. Her expression was cold and she was looking at Lero as if he were her prey..
'I never saw her fight so I don't know but... is this natural for her.. what even is this.. She looks as if she is ready to kill' I felt shivers going down my spine.
