Chapter 9 - Post Breakup

Isa looked in Debbie's direction as she screamed. Isa clearly does not have what it takes to run at this point. Luckily, a cab arrived just in time. Debbie almost pushed Isa into the taxi in a rush. She was finally able to breathe as soon as the cab sped off.

She was not sure if someone was really after them or just someone stalking them, or what, but Debbie figured, it is always better to be safe than sorry. Most especially after their encounter with Cayden, they are not completely out of harm's way.

Debbie helped Isa out of the cab. She was still consciously looking around as they both went inside the apartment. This is one of the scariest experiences Debbie has ever had, and her sister is completely out of it. She smiled as she dropped her off their bed. How many times like this have they missed because of their pride? And now she knows it will have to end soon.

The next day, Debbie was already in the kitchen preparing hangover soup for her sister. She has a lot to tell Isa, and she is not sure if she's ready. She stared blankly at the soup while she quietly sat on her chair.

Isa sat on her chair and instantly went over the bowl of soup her sister prepared for her. "Smells good. Oh, thank God I have a sister like you." She said out loud.

Debbie finally snapped out of it as she realized Isa was already in front of her. "Eat up. We have so many things to talk about later," Debbie said, and started eating her soup as well. Isa wanted to talk to Debbie about last night, because she barely remembers how they were able to go home, but seeing this different aura in Debbie, Isa opted to stay quiet and finish her food.

After eating, Isa stood up and volunteered to do the dishes, but Debbie stubbornly helped her too. "Okay, I'll just tidy the table then." Isa said and went over to the table. "Bzzt, bzzt." She looked at her sister's phone and picked it up and waved it to her. "Oh, sis, Dr. Dreamy is calling." She squinted her eyes at Debbie as she passed her the phone. "Are you dating a doctor now? What happened to the photographer? How about the chef? Or the race car driver?" She teased her sister.

"I dumped them all." Debbie smiled and was fast to grab her phone and ran to their bedroom to answer the call privately.

"That was weird." Isa said and laughed as she continued with her chores. "Gosh, I need to get some stuff in our room. What is taking her so long?" Isa mumbled as she paced back and forth.

"Knock, knock." Isa could not wait some more. "Sis? Can I get in? I'll be quick I promise." Isa asked her sister.

Debbie opened the door and left the room. She looked visibly upset, but Isa did not want to question her any more. Isa respected Debbie's privacy. Anyway, if it was the other way around, she'd prefer some alone time as well.

"Hi there my lovies. This is your love guru, Bella Moore." She pushed the intro audio herself because Debbie was in her room sulking. Good thing Jack came to help her. Though he is not yet familiar with the buttons to push, he is trying his best to be of help to Bella.

"First of all, I'd like to acknowledge the Bellanatics and for the love you sent our way. Our topic for tonight is break break-ups. How do you handle life post break up? Come on call, comment and make your stories known. I will be waiting." Bella encouraged conversation with her listeners.

It wasn't too long, and Jack signaled to Bella for their first caller. "Hello, there Bella. It's me again, Felicity. Your topic could not have been too perfect for my update." Felicity paused and cleared her throat. "The deed has been done. "I've broken up with my fiancé." She exposed her sad decision.

"I am actually happy for you. I know a better, more deserving man will soon come your way." Bella said to Felicity. "How are you feeling?" She asked, wanting to add drama to the conversation.

"Honestly, I'm not okay. I miss him still, I love him still. But the thought of moving on for the better actually excites me." Felicity confessed.

Bella instantly knew what she meant underneath her cloaked words. "Ooooh, congratulations dear." She said, which slightly jolted Felicity.

She did not want to admit to anything, but it was obvious that Bella already had her figured out. "Hmm, nothing to celebrate yet. All I have are potential candidates and I haven't opened the door to anyone as of now." Felicity was honest about her situation.

"No need to be defensive, girl," Bella chuckled. " That is what I was talking about. Boys, if you don't want to lose your girl, treasure them. Because for the worthy women we have, there are always those who are waiting in the wings." She gave men a warning.

Felicity exhaled heavily. She did not expect to get this type of validation in this era where judgment about other people is very rampant. "Thank you for saying those words tastefully." Felicity said before she ended the call.

Tonight is slightly different from the previous episodes. There are more negative reactions to Bella because of what happened to Felicity. Jack showed the comments to Bella.

"Oh, people are hating on me for advising a woman to know her worth." She said on air as if provoking those who judged her. "Hmm, think of your sister undergoing the same thing. Wouldn't you do the same thing for her?" Bella was urging her listeners to be more empathetic. "Ahm, those who would say otherwise are those who dwell in lonely relationships themselves." She added, wanting to rub salt on their wounds.

Jack signaled to Debbie for another caller. "Bella, Bella, Bella. You blocked my number." A man with a deep spoke on the other line. "Did you actually think that I would stop calling you just because you blocked my number?" He cackled arrogantly.

"hahaha." Bella gave out her sexy laugh. "Are you silly? Of course not, I just said did to piss you off." She paused and took a deep breath. "It works didn't it?" She mocked Cayden once more before ending the call.

Bella's program ended on a higher note, as the curiosity about her trended higher, over than that of Felicity's love life. She led Jack to the door and made sure to lock it as he left. She tiptoed as she entered their room. Isa did not want to wake up her sister. But as soon as her head hit the pillow, her sister spoke.

"I'm sorry I wasn't there for you earlier." She said in a low cracking voice.

Isa's heart could jump out of her chest when Debbie suddenly spoke. "Gosh, sis, you almost killed me of heart attack!" Isa said as she laughed at herself.

She heard Debbie chuckle. "It's okay. I just want you to feel better." Isa was finally serious. "Please remember that I am always ready to listen to you… whatever it is." She reminded her sister that they are all that they got at this point in their lives.

Debbie heaved a sigh. "Hmm, it's just that, the Doctor Dreamy. Well.. he ahmm.." She could not find the words to say.

"Do you mean he dumped you?" Isa said out loud to her sister, who was obviously having a hard time telling her. She was innately surprised that any man in his right mind would dump her sister. Debbie is the most perfect woman she knows, physically and intellectually gifted.

"Ah, yes. He did." Debbie said and cried her heart out.

Isa felt sorry for her sister. It was not too long ago that she lost her father. Now another person she obviously loved left her. She moved towards her sister and embraced her. " You really can't have it all, sis. You are gorgeous and smart. Then do you think a happy love life would be easy, too?" She joked.

Debbie chuckled. "Yeah, I'll choose this broken heart instead of an ugly face." She agreed, trying to hide her pain with her smile.

"ring, ring." Isa's phone was ringing; it was a little weird as it was already late. She stood up and picked up her phone. It is Jack. She quickly answered Jack's call.

"Yes, Jack?" She said, hoping everything was okay with her friend. She went out of the bedroom as she answered the phone.

"Hmm, girl, I don't want to scare you or anything, but please make sure all your doors and windows are locked." Jack said in a worried tone. "I am not sure if it was my eyes playing tricks on me, but I think I saw someone from the corner of the street taking pictures of your home.

"Thud" Isa heard a loud banging followed by glass breaking. She went to the living room to investigate what made the noise. Her window was broken and a big rock wrapped in paper was on the floor. Isa instantly picked it up to check it out.

It was a note with a handwritten message. Isa's hand was shaking, but she managed to read it "I know who you are. You can't escape me."
