After taking a short rest Anansi went to work as the day was not going to last forever.
First he gathered more sticks and dead grass or bushes, whatever he could find really, as they were going to be made into a fire later.
He then exited the cave for the nth time and headed towards the stream further downhill. While doing so he looked and noticed that the sun was about a quarter way from setting.
'I should have enough time to do a few things, but first I have to find something to eat'. He hadn't spotted any fruit trees since he came to this world so he was hoping to find something else to eat.
Following the path on his map for a while, he arrived at the stream in the exact position that he discovered it.
"I'm still sure that no one gets lost in this world... this thing is amazing, even if a certain anime character had this, he would not get lost..."
Marveling at the map once more, he washed up while wincing Everytime the water touched his skin, 'Clothing is definitely high on my to do list'.
He had been walking around, crawling through caves, carrying sticks and doing other things since he came to this world, now he was littered with cuts all over his body.
Although he was not 'soft', these cuts can be infected and could lead to h dieing, which he would like to not experience again, so he would like to avoid that by acquiring clothing asap.
Back on track, Anansi decided that he would use the stream to aquire his food, how he would go about that was by catching 'Janga', which was just freshwater shrimp dubbed 'Janga' by Jamaicans.
He first followed the the water downstream until he came across a wider and a bit deeper part of the stream, the water settled a bit so it moved slower.
This was the perfect place for shrimp to hide, especially with all the leaves in the water due to the trees all around, he also had to be careful of the bigger and rare crayfish.
But they were rare to come across so he began to slowly tread the water, turning over broad leaves and stones, he came across a few shrimps but they always swam away really fast.
He was first happy that shrimps do exist exist in this world, and then he had to repeat the experience of them escaping over and over again as he did back on earth.
A while later when he finally caught one, he held it tightly in his hands as he carried it onto dry land, it was flicking it's body over and over again in a futile attempt to escape.
He used one of his legs to pierce it in it's head to avoid spoiling the meat, he then places it on a broad leaf he prepared beforehand. It was then that he remembered that he should 'practice' getting used to having extra limbs as it would definitely help him in the long run.
Back to 'hunting', he continued to find some;lose some and catch some until he decided he has enough, as he turned around to retrieve the leaf with all his hard earned shrimp, he was surprised to see two birds making off with two of them.
"Fuck," he cursed under his breath as he hurried to pick up the leaf and wrapped it up with a few more and placed it under his arm. He was angry at those birds for his hard work that they took, but shook it off as it didn't help one bit to be angry.
He then walked off upstream, breaking off towards the hill while following his map once more.
* * *
Back into 'his' cave, he set the leaf to one side as he thought of how to create fire, his extra legs were a bit metallic but he took that though out of his head for now as he had something else he wanted to do before nightfall.
That thing was using the bark he collected on his journey here to make rope.
He sat onto his makeshift bed and began stripping off the soft part of the bark away from the hard outer section. He repeated this a few times and then proceeded to turn those wider strips into thin strips by just tearing them apart with enough force to not make it break away halfway .
He he twisted the smaller strips together around one of the sticks he had at hand so it doesn't loosen and the placed it down and repeating this with the other thin strips he had, this step was creating the small and thin ropes to be twisted together to create the rope pattern we always see on finished ropes.
He repeated this step multiple times over again, his hands getting tired but he continued whatsoever.
Taking three of these thinner ropes he began to rope twist them while coiling around a stick like the last step, and just like last time he repeated it multiple times to get multiple thick and short, primitive, but strong ropes....or at least they should be.
He took a short rest before tying the multiple ropes together using knots.
Looking at his work in the dim light flowing through the ceiling of the cave, he couldn't help but be proud of himself.
This didn't last long tho, as he moved on to try and create fire. Taking the flattest piece of wood he had, along with a stick, he set it up with some dry grass on top of the wood.
He placed the stick between both his hands before he began twisting.
"This caveman is going to create fire"
-or not...
