Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Raindrops

I was roaming outside of the duchy with a black umbrella as the rain poured from the grey clouds.

I was wondering what happened last night, I couldn't remember a single thing after I entered that garden.

As I walked by the puddles of mud that was created by the rain. Kai, the butler of the duchy called me from a distance.

He walked towards me after I stopped to wait for him, he soon arrived at my location and told me that the duke called me to his office.

I wanted to avoid having a conversation with him as much as possible, but I also didn't want to create trouble for myself so I agreed to meet him.

The rain poured heavier as I returned to the duchy with Kai.

I made eye contact with him as soon as I entered the room. The atmosphere felt neutral as he invited me to sit on the chair across his.

I politely sat on the chair as the rain got worse, the maid in his office placed the tea she prepared on the table.

"I'm sorry for leaving without permission." I said politely as can be without a second thought after the maid left the room.

"Ahh... I didn't call you for that." He replied to my sudden apology clearing the misunderstanding.

"I called you here to tell you that I hereby grant you permission to enter the garden once again." He followed after his reply, which made me confused by the sudden lift on the ban.

"Heh... Am I supposed to be happy?" I asked myself inside of my mind as I looked down and smirked.

"Thank you for your kindness." I replied with nonchalance along with a slight tint of sarcasticness.

"Is all you wanted to say?" I followed after my reply as the tea went cold.

"What?" He replied with a strange expression as if I wasn't glad that my ban had been lifted.

I rose from my seat as I held the tea that had gone cold.

"I have already lost my interest in this issue. It's too late for the sudden change." I said as I took a sip of the cold tea in front of him.

"If there is nothing else you need to say I'll be taking my leave no-" I said when I suddenly collapsed on the floor.

As the atmosphere in the room got colder, so did my vision. I saw strangers wearing a mask along with hoods entering through the window after breaking it. Fragments of the glass that came from the window scattered all over the floor as the duke instantly rose from his seat. The masked strangers ran towards me and carried me. As they carried me to the window. I saw Felix and Lucius enter the room with worried expressions.

"ASTRID!!" Both of them shouted from the door when the infiltrators suddenly jumped off the window.

It was blurry, but I saw knights following us. They easily escaped from their sight as I fainted bit by bit.

I finally lost my last bit of consciousness as raindrops poured upon me, drenching me in the rain.
