Chapter 1 - Home After Work - His Lovely Cat

Stars light up the sky like snowflakes in the night, yet they appear still, like an old photograph. The night sky was aglow with bright city lights. The pale crescent moon was shining like a silvery claw in the night sky. The friendly blackness that allows his eyes to rest and feel the coziness of home.

Lucas smiles, feeling the pleasant wind blowing through his hair. He felt the fresh air to be rewarding after clocking out of work for the day.

He inserted his key into the keyhole and turned the knob. With the lights turned on, it was clear that the house exuded warmth and comfort, from the open door to the spacious hallway. The floor was made of old-fashioned wooden flooring in a mix of deep, homely, and forest browns, and the walls were a summer sky blue with a bold white edge along the exterior wall. The stair railing was a twirl of a branch tamed by the carpenter's hand, its grain flowing in waves of mesmerizing meadow hues like water. It was nature's art under the moonlight, something to calm the heart.

"Cinnamon, I'm home. Did you miss me?" he asked.

"Meow!" Cinnamon welcomed him into the house with a smile that reached up to her eyes, revealing her pink gums and white teeth. When he saw her excited gesture, the corners of his mouth curled up higher.

He picked her up from the floor and slouched onto the couch with Cinnamon perched on top of his chest. As he squeezed her soft pink paw pads, he pinched her silky cat ears and ruffled her head. He scratched her neck and stroked her luxurious fur with his fingers.

Cinnamon is a ginger feline cat. She has a distinctive 'M' shaped marking on her forehead, stripes by its eyes and across its cheeks, along its back, and around its legs and tail.

At first, when Lucas found her, she was only eight weeks old, all alone, separated from her mother. She looked as if she'd been starving for days. She was so skinny that her bones were sticking out. Her fur was soiled and dirty. It was very heartbreaking to see.

After rescuing her, she became a part of his family. He raised her as his own child and took special care of her.

The kitten from that day has grown cute and dependant.

The kitten is a new spark of life in the softest fur. Her eyes tell us she feels a sense of pure energy tempered by an undercurrent of nervousness. She leaps with a tiger's pounce, gaining confidence and accuracy. It won't be long before she matures into an adult cat, becoming more calm, quiet, and gentle. But for now, she's still a little girl trying on her daddy's shoes, sitting to lick herself like she's a year old already, losing her balance and pretending she didn't.

Cinnamon prances more than walks, slinking only when she hears rustling or wraps herself around Terry's legs to ask for her supper. Her growing bones contain a sprinkling of youth. A trail of yarn drives her insane, and she claws at the carpet as if her life depended on it.

For him, she is his little princess and he adores her a lot. He likes the feel of his cat's massive fluff, which reaches all the way up to the tops of her feet, as well as her extra fluff, which she keeps between her pink paw pads. Her white, soft whiskers, too.

From the comfort of his lovely cat, Cinnamon, his stress would melt away and no longer in the storms of those times(Client's complaints, stressful deadlines, unreasonable overtime and etc).

He was assigned to a project for which he had to stay at his workplace past midnight and sometimes sleep there until he was able to finally finish it. As a result, dark eyebags began to form beneath his eyes. So, Lucas decided to take a leave to spend more time with Cinnamon at home and relax. Although, now is the busy season, he was sure that his co-workers were capable of completing the task efficiently, so he was unconcerned. Anyway, he has been would himself to the bone, so he deserves a break.
