Chapter 4 - regiment of death

1730 hours January 11 2940 location: the elven town of OnynHill

It was an ordinary day in the town of onynhill. The sky was overcast and the sun was behind the clouds. The only thing in the town of onynhill that was strange to the local populace was the amount of soldiers stasin in thare nearby garasin.

Whispers were going around the town that the elven federation declared war on a nation to the far north. and the federation lost 2 regiments to the unknown enemy. little did the populace of onynhill know. the army that defeated ''2 regiments'' of the federations army Was about to March on thare peaceful town.

1800 hours

Farmers in the outer Fields of the town feel the ground beneath thare feet shake and in the distance they hear the sound of hundreds of thousands of men chanting this as they March "He was just a rookie trooper and he firmly stood with pride.

He checked his equipment and made sure his pack was tied.

He had to standby and listen to the awful screams of war. You ain't gonna

March no more

"Courses"

Glory glory what a hell of a way to die

Glory glory what a hell of a way to die

He ain't gonna March no more.

Is everybody happy, cried the sergeant looking on. Our heroes happily answered yes.

And then they stood him up.

He charged into battle his commanders looking on.

He ain't gonna March no more.

"Courses"

Glory glory what a hell of a way to die

He ain't gonna March no more.

He counted along he counted hard he waited for the clock he felt the fire he felt the fear he felt the awful shock his blood came spilling out. his intestines dangling to the ground. And he ain't gonna March no more

"Courses"

Glory glory what a hell of a way to die

He ain't gonna March no more.

Bullets Fell all around him as shrapnel pierced his lungs and shells landed all around as his fate was sealed.

The battlefield became his shroud as he fell to the ground

And he ain't gonna March no more

"Chorus"

Glory glory what a hell of a way to die

Glory glory what a hell of a way to die"

The farmers looked at one another in disbelief they have never heard a military March sound so happy. and for that matter sing. as they marched believing it to be the remaining victorious soldiers from the Battle Of Broken hill the farmers continued to work and listen to the army in the distance sing. as they marched ever closer to the town of onynhill.

In the fortress next to the town of Onynhill a young captain named Veera was a fearless fighter and a devoted commander. not to mention incredibly loyal to her federation. She looked at the sunny horizon with happiness.

She turned away and began to descend the fortress walls but. something she heard stopped her. She listened to the horizon and. As she did so she heard the fant words of a marching song. so she listened to what the troops were singing. and she started to hum along until. she heard a pacific line in the song that sent shivers down her spine. as she heard the men sing. "Bullets Fell all around him as shrapnel pierced his lungs and shells landed all around as for his fate was sealed.

The battlefield became his shroud as he fell to the ground

And he ain't gonna March no more."

She didn't know what the word bullets were or shells. and with her hearing words not from her lands she was about to raise the alarm. but before she could it was too late.

the earth shook and the sound of thunder. came from where she was hearing the song just moments ago. in the next moments she heard whistling. coming from the sky assuming it was arrows. She quickly commanded her troops to gather close together outside the fortress. and raise their shields but to their dismay they were in fact 155mm artillery shells. The men bravely held their shields up. as shell after shell bombarded the fortress.

Veera was on the walls of the fortress. When the first shells hit she watched as a shell smashed into an arrow tower. and Detonated within it causing fragments of stone and mortar. to fly through the air killing any nearby Knights unlucky to get hit by a piece of shrapnel. Veera watched as shell after shell landed and exploded. evanuly a shell fell short and smashed into the wall underneath veera. and exploded blasting the wall to bits. and throwing her from the wall. When she awoke the shelling had stopped. and the fortress that the elven federation said was supposed to be undestroyable was in ruins. She looked at the world around her. the world around her. was a wasteland where soldiers lay dead. Every few feet, men cowering in shell holes. praying for forgiveness, tattered banners on spears. stand in the hundreds throughout the fortress. blood and gore covers the few pieces. of structures that stand. she gathered the few thousand men that were left.

and began to dig through the rubble looking for survivors. thinking that the enemy had left. but in the next moments that proved to be horrible wrong. as they once again heard the thunder in the horizon. The men in her command spent no time waiting. for her to give an order instead. her soldiers quickly found their way to shell holes. to take cover from the artillery shells. One of the veera soldiers grabbed her by the hand and dragged her into a shell hole. She watched the sky to see if she could spot the incoming projectiles. but she could not spot anything that looked like arrows. Instead she saw 3 mustered green streaks run through the sky. and fall onto the fortress. When the objects hit the ground a huge cloud of mustard green fog covered the fortress. Within 30 seconds the fortress was covered by this fog. Veera started to hear her men continuously cough and puke. She suddenly heard one of her soldiers walking behind her and so she turned around to see 3 of her soldiers slowly emerge from the fog only to fall into the shell hole veera was in. Veera looked at her men in horror. as their skin Rots from their face. and they puke up blood and chunks of their organs. and as they beg for mercy in between coughs.

Soldier all around veera fall coughing and drowning in their own blood this grafik seane will forever be in printed in her mind as her men die in agony

With a look of defeat in her eyes she found a horse and retreated to the next town leaving her men to die in the hellscape that once was a mighty fortress.

when news of the slaughter and the destruction of the fortress reaches the council blames the general in charge of the fortis for his failure but do to the general being killed. some of the blame fell upon veera
