Chapter 89 - Herodias

We rolled up to the deserted warehouse on the outskirts of town, its rundown facade looking super creepy in the fading light. I cut off the engine, and the silence was deafening, except for the creaky old sign swaying in the gentle breeze. Chris wasn't with me, but I knew he had my back, watching from a distance with his sniper rifle locked and loaded.

I stepped out of the car, my boots making a loud echo on the pavement. The air was thick with tension, and I could feel Chris's eyes on me from his spot on the hill. I walked forward, scanning the area like a hawk, my senses on high alert for any sign of trouble.

As I approached the warehouse, a figure emerged from the shadows. It was the mysterious woman who'd tried to hypnotize me earlier, her eyes gleaming with a sinister vibe. She stepped forward, a sly smile spreading across her face like a crack in a mirror.

"Welcome, Daniel," she said, her voice all husky and seductive. "I've been waiting for you."

I stood tall, my eyes locked on hers, my hand resting on my pistol like a promise of payback. Chris's sniper rifle was trained on her, ready to strike at a moment's notice, and I knew he had my six. The air was tense, the silence between us thick with anticipation, and I knew this was it – the moment of truth. And I was ready to roll.

"Where's Mrs. Deli?" I demanded, my gun trained on the hypnotizing woman.

She smiled, a cold, calculated smile. "Right here," she said, her voice dripping with malice.

Mrs. Deli emerged from the warehouse, her eyes vacant, her skin marred by sore marks. She looked demented, like she'd been through hell. My heart raced with anger and concern.

"Let her go," I commanded, my gun still trained on the hypnotizer.

To my surprise, she didn't resist. Mrs. Deli rushed to my side, her eyes still glazed over. I didn't hesitate, giving Chris the all-clear to take out the hypnotizer. But the shot never came. Instead, the hypnotizer sighed, a condescending smile spreading across her face.

"You're just a child playing with fire, Daniel," she said, her voice dripping with disdain.

That's when I saw them - her men, closing in on Chris's position on the hill. My heart sank. We'd been ambushed.

I turned to run with Mrs. Deli, but she pulled out an electric stunner and shocked me with a jolt of electricity. My world went dark, and I fell into the unknown, my last thought of Chris and the danger we were in.

When I came to, I was in the arms of Mrs. Deli, but something was off.

Her eyes were still vacant, and she was speaking in a voice that wasn't her own.

"Salome, my princess, what shall we do with them?" she said, her voice dripping with malice.

The hypnotiser's voice replied, "My job is done here. Take them to my mother."

Her mother was the ancient Herodias, who was probably a demon queen now. My heart raced with fear. We were in the clutches of evil incarnate.

As we approached the lair of Herodias, I could feel the air grow thick with malevolence. The ancient queen's presence was palpable, her dark energy suffocating.

We entered a chamber of darkness, lit only by flickering torches that cast eerie shadows on the walls. Herodias sat on a throne-like chair, her eyes blazing with an infernal fire.

"Welcome, Daniel," she said, her voice like a rusty gate creaking in the wind. "Your father personally sent me to pick you up. He's tired of your stubbornness and wants you to learn a lesson."

I was taken aback, my mind racing with questions. How did Herodias know my father? What did she mean by "lesson"?

Herodias snapped her fingers, and her men formed a circle around us. "Let them go," she commanded, her gaze fixed on me.

Chris and I exchanged a wary glance as we were released from our restraints. But before we could make a move, Herodias spoke again.

"Mrs. Deli, take care of Chris," she said, her voice dripping with malice.

Mrs. Deli, still under Salome's control, drew a dagger and advanced on Chris. Herodias cackled, her laughter like a chorus of damned souls.

"Mrs. Deli is the best assassin the Kingdom Below has ever made," she said, her eyes gleaming with malevolence. "It's either you kill her before she slices your friend in half, Daniel. The choice is yours."

I was trapped in a nightmare, forced to choose between saving my friend and taking a life. Herodias' laughter echoed through the chamber, her dark magic closing in around us like a vice.
