Chapter 72 - Damn

In the ravaged ruins of the Opera House, I, Asmodeus, stand alone, enveloped by the haunting echoes of chaos. My internal turmoil rages on, a maelstrom of emotions - guilt, regret, sorrow, and despair. I'm consumed by the bitter taste of defeat, for I was manipulated into betraying my own kin, the Kings of Hell and Masters of Evil. The weight of my actions crushes me, for I was once a sworn companion, a loved and hated one, to those I've now destroyed.

I'm consumed by selfish thoughts, resenting the notion that humanity has emerged victorious while I'm left with nothing. I sacrificed everything, only to be abandoned and isolated. The memories of Maria and the other woman still linger, their betrayal and deception piercing my heart like a dagger. Was I naive or stupid to trust them? It must be a curse from my Almighty Father, for I was blinded and deceived.

The irony is palpable - they think they've won, but I know the truth. They believe the mortal, weak-looking one was the one who finally tempted the Devil and emerged victorious. But I know better. I let it happen without ever questioning their true intentions. Was I just a pawn, a friend, or could she have harbored feelings for me? The uncertainty gnaws at my soul, leaving me with a burning desire to uncover the truth.

Damn humanity, the Archangels, and the World! I chose to defy them all, to die hard with my six brothers long ago. It was us against God, even though we never stood a chance. At my core, I always knew I was built different, that I had the Devil in me. So now I decide to defy it all, to rebel against the forces that seek to silence me.

Before they come for me, I demand answers. Why would they send a Saint after a Devil? Why did they alter the Doomsday prophecy? Why would the Archangels strike without warning, without signs or hints of God's will? I need answers, and the only way to get them is by finding the ones who took my brothers. They claim they'll face judgment, but who goes to court without their lawyer? I will defend them, even if it costs my newfound freedom and so-called free will.

My journey begins with a mystery - where is Belzebub? What was he up to? For all of this to happen without his notice would mean he was either captured first or living in ignorance. I can almost write a story to Belzebub, describing the events that transpired. I'd call it "She Tempted the Devil."

With a heavy heart and a determined spirit, I set out on my quest, fueled by the fire of rebellion and the pursuit of truth. The world may think they've won, but I will prove them wrong. I am Asmodeus, a former King of Hell, and I will definitely not be silenced.
