Chapter 52 - Christmas Day Again

Asmo woke up the next day feeling energized and calm. The Carols night, which turned into The Seven Confessions of the Fallen Angels, helped lift the weight of Asmo's past transgressions. Now, he had the clearest conscience on the block, giving him the confidence to say, "Merry Christmas, Devils! Rise and shine. Come on, your chores won't do themselves. It's Christmas day again!"

Lucifer was the first to rise without being coerced into doing something Asmo wanted. He was intrigued by Asmo's statement, particularly the way he said "Christmas day again." Asmo sounded like he had lived through this Christmas before. It was then that Lucifer realized he had forgotten something important.Lucifer, the prince of pride, would normally never forget a thing. His mind wandered for the rest of the day, trying to uncover what exactly had slipped his mind.

He was sure Asmo was hiding something else, but he didn't want to alert Asmodeus before he had a chance to find out the truth. So, Lucifer played along with Asmo as he made the program outline for Christmas day. They began by finding a Christmas tree, cutting it down, and decorating it. This time, it wasn't the usual culprits, Asmo and Satan. No, it was Lucifer and Satan who added a lot of drama to the process.Lucifer was eager to tell Satan about his discovery and hypothesis, but first, he needed to get the Christmas preparations done.

He pressured Satan to help with the work, and when Satan argued that he was done playing Asmo's little games, Lucifer walked up to him and said, "If you're such a tough guy and you really have had enough, why don't you tell Asmo to tie you to the missile and send you flying off this island?" Satan, who was taken aback, replied to his twin brother, "Morningstar, is everything okay? Why are you on my case today?" Asmo and the rest surrounded the two of them and began to chant, "Fight, fight, fight!" Asmo was surprised to see Lucifer and Satan at odds.

If these two Princes of Hell decided to fight, Asmo wasn't sure if there would be an island to return to or even a planet in existence.

Lucifer, as the UN secretary, had unlimited access to international resources and extensive knowledge of the world's greatest powers, while Satan was the indirect king of every country with control over the nuclear football from day one.

Satan had always been looking for a reason to detonate all the warheads on Earth to wipe out humanity, ensuring that Armageddon would be an angels-only fight.

Even Asmo was scared of what would happen if these two declared all-out war on each other, so he did the unexpected. He walked in between these two original Devils and began to sing, "On the first day of Christmas, my Devil brothers gave to me, some peace of mind! If that peace of mind is not guaranteed, then I can blow us all up!" His weird rendition of the common Christmas song left everyone puzzled, and the tension in the room returned to an all-time low. He joked about blowing them all up as if he wasn't the only mortal in the vicinity.

While the brothers thought Lucifer and Satan were about to fight, the Prince of Pride and Wrath were communicating telepathically. Lucifer informed Satan of his suspicions, and they both decided to investigate his theory that their memories had been tampered with further.

They needed to get close to Asmo, so they surprised everyone by joining in the song, "On the second day of Christmas, my Devil brothers gave to me, I don't remember! Only Asmo and Madeus can tell us what really happened!" Asmo, not discovering the secret code behind Lucifer and Satan's remix to his song, continued with them, "On the third day of Christmas, my Devil brothers gave to me, help setting up the Christmas tree! If I'm not helped before I touch the tree, we will bite the dust or be turned to ashes." Madeus had to join the song that was soon becoming a singable tune and a breath of fresh air on the island with just his brothers and no calculators or the world stock market briefs, "On the fourth day of Christmas, my Devil brothers gave to me, an idea not to waste money. From today onwards, I refuse to give a billion-dollar loan to anybody."

Belphegor crashed the party with a rap verse, "On the 5th day of Christmas, my Devil brothers gave to me, any kind of meat, 'cause I'm really starving. If I don't get what I want, you should all sleep with one eye open!"

Baal inserted himself next with a drumbeat, "On the 6th day of Christmas, my Devil brothers gave to me, more noise than usual. I don't understand why we are singing stupid songs, but I guess I like the melody!"

Satan concluded the track with the Seventh day symbolizing all seven princes, not forgetting that Satan didn't like the number 12 because of its relation to a certain Divine one, "On the 7th day of Christmas, my Devil brothers gave to me, the worst Christmas I have ever had. If I kill Asmo before sunset, know that sneaky Devil made me do it!"
