Chapter 126 - Chapter 126: A Gate to the Void

Mid Afternoon - Early Summer : Bahamut Estate

-

"Haah.. alright." -Time to get off my lazy ass and be productive... I guess I'll start by figuring out how those void gate things work...-

*Click* Quickly making my way outside after undoing the mana lock, I came into a massive garden full of countless herbs, and beautiful flowers of every variety before spotting the field not too far away.

-That must be what Mother mentioned…- Finally winding my way through the garden, I took my time to look at and enjoy the smell of the flowers before eventually coming up to the massive, four-kilometer-wide field

The whole area was incredibly flat, with freshly trimmed grass completely covering it. -I guess this spot is as good as any...-

Quickly sitting down and letting Ilios off my back, I took a deep breath and took a few breaths to ease my body. "Hooh…" -Alright… Let's see what I'm working with…-

*Vwowowoom* The moment I dumped mana into my space node, the noise of rippling mana filled the air, and a dark cloud started to form around my body. -That should be enough…-

Focusing my space mana on the fabric of space in the middle of my body, I promptly started pushing it away just as I had in my room a few nights prior.

Before I knew it, the light from my surroundings vanished, and I sat there in an empty black space with only my space mana and aura to accompany me. -Alright.. Now what if I…- *Vwoop*

My surroundings instantly became visible as the fabric of space slung back into its usual grid

"Huh?" It wasn't what I expected. -It didn't pull me through?-

Immediately falling into thought, I blasted through several more ideas before going to try again.

But luckily enough, the first method I tried actually worked.

*Vwoop* The sunny sky instantly flickered to darkness before becoming veiled in the dark, nebulous sky of the void. -It worked!-

What I had done differently this time was, instead of simply releasing the sphere, I forcefully collapsed it inwards.

But that made me start to wonder. -What.. is the void if that's how I get to it?- Idly looking around while I thought about it, I noticed the same web of tubes I saw when we first arrived in Bahamut, the only difference was that I was in a different orientation to them. -But it was only barely…-

At most I was a few dozen meters from the rune we came through even though the estate was several kilometers from it. -Is space in the void.. dilated?-

I tilted my head as countless theories raced through my mind, but it was a concept I struggled to wrap my mind around. -Could the void be an inverted space?-

I felt as if I could hear the cogs in my head turning as I slowly started ignoring my surroundings to think.

Before I knew it, I had gotten lost in thought and what felt like several hours had passed. -Ah, shoot, I have my lesson with Mother tonight.- Realizing she was probably waiting on me, I set aside the countless things on my mind and gathered some space mana to leave.

-Last time I just created a sphere and let it collapse on me… Will it be the same?- Promptly making a black sphere around me, I made sure it was flawless and released my influence on it.

*VwooOOp* An odd noise met my ears as I looked around to see the space mana in the sphere being unraveled to reform the fabric of space, dispersing the excess space mana and eventually forming another rigid and crystalline structure.

"Ah, so that's how it works… How fascinating…" -I wonder if it even needs to be a sphere…- But before I got lost in thought again, I pulled myself away to look for Mother. -Right, where is sh.. huh?-

Looking up, I immediately noticed a bright blue, sunny afternoon sky still hanging over me. -It's.. Still afternoon? I wasn't in there for a whole day was.. oh…- My thoughts were cut short as I suddenly thought back to my experience in the void when we first came to Bahamut. -Was my mind not just exaggerating the time I spent in the void?-

Glancing toward the fabric of space again, I felt a slight chill pass down my back. -Then.. that must mean time simply doesn't flow in the void…-

It was a realization that completely made my mind blank. -But that.. would make a few of my theories make more sense…-

But as I started to zone out and sink into my thoughts again, a voice called out to me.

"Sir Vasilias." It was an unfamiliar young woman's voice, that sounded slightly anxious.

-hm?- Glancing over toward the voice, I noticed a formally dressed maid giving me a deep bow.

She had pale white skin and elf ears with pink hair so bright it almost looked white.

-Is that hair color really natural?- "What is it?"

She immediately stiffened up as I spoke, but kept her head low and held her bow. "My name is C-Chloe, I was assigned to be your personal maid."

-My personal maid, huh…- Although I expected to get one, I somewhat expected it to be someone older. "You should look at people when greeting them."

She tensed up as she looked up at me with a slightly pale face. "I-I'm very sorry, my Lord!"

-She's quite cute…- "I didn't mean for it to sound like a reprimand. I apologize if that's how it came across." She was quite pretty, with cerise eyes and hair, and a somewhat pale complexion. "In any case, what did you come by for?" (Cerise is a shade of pink)

"W-well I came by to introduce myself and to see if there was anything you needed..." Her nervousness was like that of a child.

"I believe I'm alright for now." I momentarily turned to her before nodding my head. "I will be in your care."

"Ah, y-y-yes, please take care of me!" She threw herself into a bow immediately with an embarrassed look.

-She has a lot to learn…- "Ah, actually I do have something I need. I need a piece of mythril for some stuff I want to test, would it be possible to get a bit? It can be pretty small."

"I will speak with Galen. It should not be too difficult."

-Sweet…- "Alright, I think that's all for now. If you ever want a break or something just let me know."

She slowly looked up at me with a look of awe before bowing one last time. "A-as you wish, my Lord! If you ever need anything please ask and I will get it!" Her smile was wide and childish as she finally turned around and went inside in a hurry.

-I feel like her and Maria will get along…- Finally turning back to the field, I sat back down and started looking at the fabric of space again. -Now, where was I?-

- Asimi Ragnarok ~

"My Lady!"

-Hm?- "What is it, Doris?" Quickly turning around, I met eyes with a young and beautiful elven girl with blue and white hair, and eyes.

She looked up at me with a vibrant smile full of childish innocence. "Sir Osto is here to see you!"

My eyes immediately lit up as I dashed down the hall to the front door.

*WHAM-crackle* Slamming open the door so hard it broke, I was immediately met with Osto staring with a shocked expression.

"Did my sweet babies arrive safely?!"

"Y..yeah, just-"

Ignoring everything after his confirmation, I ran out the door and jumped in the air. -It's time to see my beautiful grandbabies!- But right as I got off the ground I felt him bite my tail. "You little-!"

*BANG* Letting myself get slammed into the ground, I hopped up onto my feet and glared at him.

He immediately let out a sigh with an annoyed look. "Haah now isn't the time to joke. I actually came here to speak with you about meeting them." He quickly glanced inside toward the several maids and butlers staring at the door with troubled looks. "Could we speak somewhere private?"

Seeing he was serious, I shook off my playfully angry expression. "Haah, you're no fun anymore, Osto." -I guess I should have noticed he was serious earlier…- I momentarily glanced back at the large scratches on my tail. "Let's talk in my office."

But as I turned around and started walking inside, I felt my chest ache slightly. -I do want to see them though…-
