It was morning on the island of Berk, Vikings were going about their days, sheep and yack grazing on the fields with no dragons in sight it was a peaceful day.
But deep in the forest in a certain cove, you can hear the sound of metal clashing against metal.
*CLANG*
"Come on, Astrid you can do better than that, I mean Gothi can swing faster with her stick than you," Hela said with a smirk making Astrid mad as she swang her axe downwards which Hela side-stepped effortlessly smacking Astrid in the ass with the side of her dull sword making her more irritated. 'But seriously that old bat has a mean swing for her age'
Back in her hut Gothi suddenly tightly gripped her stick feeling like someone said something rude about her before going back to treating the man in front of her.
Troels was sitting a bit far from the two sparring girls with a half-eaten boar at his paws confused since in his experience when humans use their metal sticks it was to hurt or kill something so why are they using them against each other?
"We're not really fighting Troels it's just practice and the blades are dull see," She said as she sensed his emotions she slides her sword against her palm before showing him it only had a red line which faded quickly.
Astrid used Hela's moment of distraction to swing her axe only for Hela to block.
*CLANG*
"Nice try but you know you can't surprise me that easily," Hela said leaning forward a bit, Astrid suddenly had an idea crashing her lips against Hela's whose eyes widened since the kiss caught her off guard. The grip on her sword loosened and Astrid took her chance to disarm her as separated from the kiss with a smug smile.
"*sigh* That's cheating," Hela said with a glare but there was a soft smile on her lips.
"No, it wasn't that was fair like you said expect the unexpected" Astrid said determined to take this as her first win against Hela.
"Fine, I'll let you have this one," Hela said before chuckling since she heard Astrid cheering, "what are you cheering about I'm still ahead with 98 to 1"
"Ugh, just let me have my moment,"
"Alright, but on a more serious note, you get angry very easily you have to be calm and level head when you're in a fight, your enemies will do and say a lot of things to get you riled up so you can make a mistake and that mistake could cost you your life," Hela told her seriously, Astrid looked down knowing what Hela said was true before looking up with a determined look.
"I'll try to be calmer from now on"
"Good but try not to change your personality too much I like your feisty nature," Hela said only to receive an elbow to the gut making her groan Troels making laughing noises in the background.
"That's for saying stuff like that now come on I want another round," Astrid said before giving Hela her sword and they continued to train throughout the day taking short breaks to eat followed by intense make-outs, followed by more training and ending it with viewing the sunset on Troels flying through the clouds, all in all, it was a successful date.
"I had more fun today than I had in a while," Astrid said as they headed back to the village.
"Yeah so did I although I think we're the only ones who think training as fun," Hela said, "I mean Hiccup would probably spend all day in the forge forgetting to eat, the twins would terrorise the village with their pranks, Snoutlout would do gods know what and Fishlegs would probably make-out with his books" she added making Astrid laugh.
"Yeah, you're right about that, that is something they would do," Astrid said still laughing with Hela joining in.
"Hey, random question but now that you know that Dragons aren't as bad as you thought, have you thought of getting your own Dragon?" Hela asked.
"No not really but what kind of dragon do you think would suit me?"
"I know just the dragon, come on," Hela said as she dragged Astrid with her.
"Where are we going?" Astrid asked.
"The arena" Hela answered.
After a bit more running they reached the arena. Hela used her dragon eyes for better visibility but saw no one and since she was ahead of Astrid with her back to her she didn't see Hela's eyes glow red. Hela sniffed the air to try and catch any scent that isn't theirs once she knew the coast was clear she opened the gate and they both entered.
"So which one is it?" Astrid asked.
"Open that gate," Hela said as she pointed at the one with the Deadlynadder.
"A deadly nadder," Astrid said as she walked towards the release lever, "why this dragon and not the others"
"Because it's beautiful and has a feisty personality like you," Hela said and Astrid thanked the gods that it was dark otherwise Hela would see the deep blush on her cheeks, "plus its scales colour and patterns match your colour scheme now open it"
"Okay" and with that, she pulled the lever down opening the gate. The Deadly nadder sprung forward squawking and looking around until it saw Hela it spiked up its tail before swinging it forward releasing three spikes.
Hela brought up her two hands catching two spikes before tilting her head to the side the third spike passed by her head and struck a shield right in the middle on the other side of the wall all of this happened in the blink of an eye while Astrid stared at her girlfriend in awe with slite blush on her cheeks.
"Like I said feisty now Astrid approach her gently let her know you mean her no harm" Hela instructed.
Astrid nodded and as told, she walked towards the dragon slowly. The nadder turned its head to the side so it could see better to see if this human had anything that could harm her seeing nothing it retracted its spikes but didn't let its guard down still keeping its eye on the approaching human.
"Hey, there girl, I'm not gonna hurt you I just want to be your friend," Astrid said calming down the dragon a bit as it put down its tail but was still cautious.
"Compliment it," Hela tells her.
"You have the most beautiful scales of any dragon I've seen," Astrid says making the nadder look at itself before making a sound that Hela determined as of course, they are while lifting its head up proudly, "in fact your colour was so beautiful that it inspired my dressing"
The nadder looked between the human in front of it and itself before nodding its head. Astrid stretched out her hand in front of the dragon.
"So will you be my friend if you do I promise not to break your trust and visit every night," Astrid said the Dragon looked at her hand before leaning onto it and closing its eyes, Astrid sighed in relief before giggling as the dragons breath tickled her hand.
"See it's not hard to earn a dragon's trust but not all dragons are this easy some are very stubborn, and others will trust you because of the situation you and it are in while some will trust no one so remember that," Hela said seriously making Astrid nod before going back to stroking the nadders head.
