The bugs looked like they were giant blue ladybugs, but instead of black dots they have yellow diamond shapes on their outer shell. They were the size of a basketball, but their size isn't what made them dangerous. It was their hard shell.
Glenn observed his stats and saw that they were still quite high, much higher than an average player even in his time in the pro-league. This was odd considering that he didn't have his equipment on.
"No matter," Glenn said and started his hunt which didn't take time for him to finish. The bugs were rather weaker than him, even when he didn't have to use his Switch skill and attack them with magic.
His Switch skill allowed him to switch from healing to damage. This skill had a rather short cooldown, so he can willingly change whenever he pleased.
When attacking the bugs, all Glenn had to do was slam his worn down staff at the bugs. The staff has a base damage that was much smaller to the HP of the bugs. But since Glenn, even as a healer, had a higher base basic attack damage than the bugs' HP, he could slam the staff down at them to kill them.
The bugs did not stand a chance against him. Each time he strikes, blood would be drawn from the bug as it was squashed by the weapon.
"Poor bugs. But I look poorer," Glenn sighed after he saw that he was now bathed in blood. It was also too early for him to switch to his original gears because he still needed to hide his level. "I need a bath."
Glenn took out a rope he bought from the market and tied all four bugs in it, leaving one end of the rope untied so he can use it as a handle. He then opened the book that the old woman gave him. He took the corpse of the four bugs he just killed and searched for a river to bathe in.
The map was insanely accurate that it made Glenn laugh. The landmarks of the map were just trees, rocks, or even weapons that were left there but each of those landmarks were drawn at the map with precision.
"This game is really fun," Glenn chuckled. He remembered that the parasite quest was a side quest that the player have to complete when they first start their game.
It was one of those tutorials where they give out instructions and features that the player would need in a game. This time, it was a map that they gave.
Looking back at it, Glenn finished the tutorial first among his friends. Back in the first patch, the mechanics were so vague and different. The tutorial was the first part of the main quests where it was divided into six parts, each part would teach a player different aspects of the game.
The memories of the game felt surreal for Glenn as he walked through the forests that he only saw inside the computer screen before. It was like he was reliving a memory that he never experienced, or meeting an old friend that was a stranger.
A few minutes of walk, Glenn finally arrived at the river. He took off his clothes to take a bath there but when he took the leather tonic off, a pair of black pants was shown.
"What?" Glenn asked himself, taking all of his garments and was left with another set, the one that he once used in his first tournament which was a tournament for the first few players of the game. "Oh, this is an equipment skin."
Players who had an equipment but does not like its overall appearance would have a chance to give it a skin. The skin would be shown over the equipment, but it does not affect the attributes of the original equipment.
Glenn then scoured his Inventory which was found in his interface. He saw that the latest equipment he had were still there, and the one he had now was from the time when he first met his old teammates and the time when they decided to join forces.
They eventually won and earned the latest equipment set at that time, one for each role in their team. Glenn naturally has the healer's equipment set which was a white robe with gold detailing paired with a white slim pants and his weapon was a staff.
He then glanced at the staff, wondering how he could take the skin off of it. In the game, the players would only have to drag the skin thumbnail out of the box and the skin would be removed.
Glenn hummed, trying to touch everything on the staff. He then sighed and decided to pinch the head which made the staff glow and for the texture of the worn down staff to be removed like it was a piece of cloth.
"This is so cool," Glenn laughed. He took the original equipment off and bathed before he would lose more time admiring the skin feature.
A couple of minutes passed by, Glenn finished his bath and he was now ready to claim the quest reward so he could proceed to the next quest. He was taking his time to complete one quest at a time while he observes the new world.
"Here it is," Glenn said to the woman who handed him the quest, but she scrunched her face and shook her head. "Young boy, what I need are the shells, not the entire thing."
"What?" Glenn asked, making the woman sigh in frustration.
She took out the paper that contained the quest and showed Glenn the quest description. "See this? Return three Iron Blue Bug shells, not the bugs itself."
"Oh," Glenn wondered. He then remembered that the game pampered him too much. Whenever he accepts a quest, the system of the game would automatically filter the drop and give the player the item they needed.
This means that when you didn't register or accept a quest, even if you hunt a hundred of Iron Blue Bug, you wouldn't get the shell. But since this is the game, Glenn had to manually clean the bug and get their shells.
"Bothersome," Glenn groaned and had no choice but to take the bugs with him. He opened the map and searched for a river that was closer than the one he took a bathe in. "There."
He found a creek instead. Glenn thinks that this was better than nothing, so he went to the creek where he cleaned out the bugs and took them out of their shells.
The shell, much like their names suggests, were made of iron. It was hard and not malleable, but rather easy to be taken out of the flesh of the bugs.
As he continued cleaning, Glenn felt a presence behind him. He immediately turned and saw a group of knights approaching him.
"Hey!" one of them yelled. "What you're doing is illegal! You are tainting the beauty of the creek."
"Sir, I didn't know!" Glenn raised his hand to show that he surrendered. "I promise, I will not do it again."
"Oh," one of the officers stopped his companions. "He's an Adventurer."
"Oh," the first officer said. "Alright then. Please, don't do it again. This creek leads to a river which would lead to the sea. We don't want the creatures along the path poisoned now, wouldn't we?"
"Oh, no worries," Glenn said. He took his staff and cast his skill, Light of the Moon, on the river. This would dispell the negative effects such as poison and curses.
"Now, the water is purified," Glenn said. "You don't have to worry about anything more, good knights."
"Alright," the first knight nodded. They bowed to Glenn before leaving, but something felt wrong for Glenn. He shook the thoughts away, and returned to the town, finally completing his first quest.
