Chapter 38 - The God of Healing

Back in his past life, Glenn was used to negotiations. His entire career was filled with nothing but negotiations, forcing people to sell their souls for a huge loan that they'll never get to pay back in their lifetime.

Along with this, Glenn was also used to chasing people for their payments. Before he became a manager, he was just another employee who would run around the street, trying to find this and that.

He was actually having a better time when he was running around the street rather than being at the desk all day. At least when he was out in the field trying to collect ridiculous amounts of money, he was gettting the exercise he needed.

For five years, he was in the desk trying to live his life. He was the one people would go to if they apply for their loan or apply for the insurance their company also offered.

"You can just stand here," Glenn instructed to Elder Pacho.

Elder Pacho was the first one to be cured. Martella was still hesitant about an outsider healing them, so she wanted to see if Glenn could actually help them or not.

"Alright," Glenn raised his right hand to his chest level. "Switch. Tree of Life."

Unlike in the game where the skill had a default size, Glenn found out that his skills can be adjusted. Much like how he cast a gigantic tree when the miasma was spreading in Galaron and the flames he conjured to ward off the undead soldiers, Glenn can manipulate his skills to adjust to certain situations.

This time, he created a small tree on his palm, a tree no larger than a bonsai tree that was found in homes. His hand got closer to Elder Pacho and the skill started to activate.

The soft white light shone on the Elders's pale and dry skin. After a few seconds, his tanned complexion returned. His skin was also nourished and he looked much better than just a minute ago.

Lapis and Martella learned closer to the tree to which Glenn smirked at. It was evident in their eyes how much they were impressed by the skill. Glenn had thought that they have never seen such skill before.

"This small glowing tree…" Lapis looked up to face Glenn while he was still leaning down. "It can cure my people?"

"Only if you'd let me," Glenn said. "Will you?"

The mother and son looked at each other before nodding vigorously. They bowed to Glenn and chorused. "Please help us!"

There was a flash of a smirk on Glenn's lips that everyone missed. Everyone except for John and Gina.

"You can hide a lot of things from us, but you can never hide the coy smile on your lips whenever you get an advantage over something," Gina whispered to Glenn as they walked to the area where Glenn would perform his healing.

"What?" Glenn snorted. "I'm not hiding anything."

"The smirk you displayed when you got the key to the Death Arena and the smirk you had just now was awfully similar," John narrowed his eyes. "Awfully. Similar."

Glenn laughed and shook his head. "I'm not doing anything. I'm just helping these people."

The three of them watched as the ones who were affected by the disease came to the open area. They assumed that this was similar to the town square where people would gather and would hang out.

"They're really sick," Gina commented when she saw a few people being carried. These were the ones who got the worst case scenario before death, ones that had extremely dry skin. They even had dark purple circles on their skin and werr thin to the bone.

"I can't just stand watching them like this," Glenn sighed. "Chief Lapis. I want you to gather everyone in your tribe."

"Everyone?" Lapis asked. "But they're the only ones who are affected by the disease. Why do we need the rest?"

"There are some cases of diseases that the patient does not suffer from the symptoms," Glenn said. "It wouldn't be good for anyone if we leave some of the disease to sleep inside other people's bodies and then still spread."

"That is right," Lapis thought out loud. "Alright, Adventurer Glenn. I will gather everyone."

Glenn nodded and let them gather themselves. Meanwhile he took a deep breath and sat cross legged on the ground. "This was going to be a hard time for me."

"There are approximately six hundred of them," John said. "I asked the elders earlier. If this was going to be the same situation as Galaron, you'd faint."

"Galaron had almost two thousand people," Glenn said. "But they had merely anything on their bodies. The toxins from the miasma that affected their brain was very easy to cure because it was just a small impurity."

"So, the Tribe of Macatan has a different situation than them?" Gina asked to which Glenn answered with anod.

"They have a disease, something that is very hard to cure," Glenn said. "And six hundred of them will be the death of me. I have to gather my strength."

"And why?" Gina smirked. "You forgot that you have an enchanter here."

"I didn't," Glenn finally opened his eyes. "That's why you need to get in here and collect your mana too. This is going to be the death of both of us."

"What?" Gina gulped and immediately sat cross legged on the ground. She closed her eyes and meditated like what Glenn was doing. "Are you sure this is going to give us more mana?"

"No," Glenn said. "But this is better than doing nothing."

A few minutes more and Lapis finished gathering the tribesmen. He called out to Glenn who woke up from his meditation as well as Gina who was sprawled on the ground, snoring loudly.

"Is this everyone?" Glenn asked. "It is crucial for us to have everyone here."

"Yes," Lapis said. "This is the entire population of Tribe Macatan."

"Then, let us begin," Glenn took a deep breath and waved his hands in the air to form random symbols. "From the depths of the seas, and the winds of the skies. From the dewdrop of a fresh morning rain, and the bloodshed in a predator's hunt."

"Is this necessary?" John whispered to Gina when they were both confused as to what their friend was doing.

"Let's just see," Gina replied. "I don't think it is, but let's see."

"I, Glenn Adams shall manipulate the laws of nature and heal you!" Glenn yelled. "I bestow upon me, the magnificent powers of the God of Healing! I am now your god. Tree of Life!"
