"Cecil, fire your wisps to distract it. Don, deal the first blow to take the aggro of the beast," Glenn commanded.
Aggro or short for aggression, is the term God's Omen players use for the person who is targeted by the enemy first. Usually, this role was taken by the tank but since their team does not have any tank, Don the warrior must take on this duty.
"Wheel of Whispers!" Cecil casted. She raised her staff and small green balls of flames exited her weapon. The flames charged at the bear, hovering above it causing confusion.
"Don't fire it yet," Glenn said. "Don, charge now."
"Roger that!" Don yelled. He raised his sword and slammed it on the shield before he charged straight towards the giant bear. "Flaming Slash!"
His sword lit ablaze as he leaped off of the ground and slashed his sword right on the giant bear's face. The beast growled in anger, looking straight at Don as the boy landed.
"Cecil, the wisps!" Glenn yelled. Cecil nodded and slammed her staff forward. This caused the wisps above the bear to rain their powers onto it. "Nice. The bear will now charge at Don. Patrick, prepare your shield skill. Don, defend."
"Yes!" Both boys yelled. The bear did as was expected and slashed its claw forward. Don kept his sword and held his shield with both of his hands.
"Waters of Protection," Patrick casted. He fired a stream of blue energy from his staff which reached Don. The energy gave Don another HP bar on top of his HP, this was the shield that Patrick provided him.
Roar!
The bear unleashed its claws at Don's shield. The boy grunted when he felt the pain of the attack, completely taking down the shield while taking some of his own HP.
"Don!" Patrick yelled. He raised his staff to cast another skill, but Glenn stopped him.
"Don't panic," Glenn said. "Don?"
"Return Pain!" Don growled. He opened his arms while a blast of pure force was launched from his body. The force attacked the bear, causing it to scream in pain.
"Return Pain grants the warrior half of the damage they received for the past three seconds," Glenn said. "Now, heal him."
Patrick nodded. He casted his healing skill to Don, earning him a thumbs up from his friend. "Now that feels so good."
"Cecil, cast another damage skill at the beast," Glenn commanded. "We should be finished soon."
"Understood," Cecil said. She waved her staff in the air, spinning it three times before she took a deep breath. "Molten Anger!"
Glenn snorted. "Good choice."
Cecil's staff fired a beam of flames that was shielded by the bear with its claws. Don turned to them, "It blocked the attack."
"Molten Anger can also deal substantial amount of damage even when it is blocked," Glenn said. "Cecil expected the beast to defend, that is why she used this skill."
"Nice, thinking," Don grinned. "The HP is almost down. What do we do next?"
"Time to reap," Glenn said. "Felix!"
When Cecil's attack had finished, a blinking white light flashed above the beast. A white shadow traveled around the giant bear multiple times. The beast's claws fell to either side of it as its body fell to the ground, blood spraying from the newly cut wounds.
Felix landed in front of the dead bear, panting. "That was a tight opening."
"You were delayed for two seconds," Glenn said. "I heard a branch break from that area," he pointed at a tree, "I assume the branch that you stepped on broke?"
"From the impact of my flash," Felix scratched the back of his head. "I still need to control it."
"That's right," Glenn ruffled his hair. "But there's still so much room for growth. I'm sure you can manage to get stronger by today."
"First takedown," Don ran up to them. "I'm already Level 9. I'm so excited."
"Every one of you exerted a lot of effort yesterday," Glenn smiled. "Let's keep the same energy today for tomorrow, a fight we've never seen before will ensue. We must be prepared."
"Yes, Big Brother Healer!" the kids cheered in unison.
"Now, let's go!" Glenn marched forward. "We have more beasts to hunt and all day to grind."
–
"Felix is now Level 16," Glenn smiled. "Cecil is Level 15, Donis already also at Level 16, while Patrick is Level 15 too."
He was sitting around the fire while he was talking to John and Gina. The kids are already asleep while they stayed awake. "It's only been three days, but we made it this far."
"That's because you're so good at commanding them," John said. "Your tactics are amazing and your instructions are spot on."
"True," Gina agreed. "Will any one of us get here without you?"
"You give me too much credit," Glenn chuckled. "The both of you helped so much too. If it weren't for the two of you zoning the field where we grind, these kids will be overwhelmed with beasts."
Zoning is a term for the players when enemies are being controlled in a certain area. This was usually in situations where their key players need to do something in an area and is not to be disturbed.
In this case, John and Gina were controlling the beasts around the area where Glenn takes the kids. If they didn't do it, then strong beasts would flood the area after hearing and seeing the battle inside.
"Does this remind you anything of your past life?" Gina asked. "I'm sure it does."
"Yes," Glenn smiled. "After playing God's Omen, I worked hard and became a manager. I'm used to commanding people."
"Explains a lot," John said but his smile faded. He pointed behind Glenn with his pursed lips. "I think you have more duties to be taken care of."
Glenn turned around and saw Patrick standing behind him, looking down and was playing with his fingers. "Big Brother Healer, can I ask for your help?"
Glenn smiled. "Excuse me. I have to take care of him."
"Take your time," Gina said. "The night is still young anyway."
Glenn smiled at Patrick. "Earlier, you panicked and almost lost control of the situation. Is it about that?"
Patrick nodded slowly. "How are you so calm about it, big brother? It would also hurt me when my friends got hurt."
"Fights aren't dealt by just one of you," Glenn said. "Fights are being fought by all of you. So, all you need to do is trust in your friends and most importantly, trust yourself. You're the healer of your team. Don't get pressured, but your position is vital."
An arm was slung around Patrick's shoulders. "True. We couldn't do anything without you, Pat." It was Don.
"He's right," Cecil added. "We're a team just like we said before. You're important, but don't feel pressured about it. Just do your best and we will do the rest."
With teary eyes, Patrick nodded. "Alright. I will do everything that I can!"
