Chapter 1 - Prologue

"Since you were born, my life has been shambles."

The phrase his mother used to tell him when he was a young boy.

"Let's call it a day; some people don't understand when we don't want him here."

The thing his neighbors and classmates used to say to him when he tried to join them and socialize with them.

"Why don't you turn into a tree or something? At the very least, it is not as useless as you."

The phrase his boss used to say to him when he made minor mistakes in his work.

"Well, I know some places where you can die without being too badly hurt."

The phrase his colleague used to say to him when he lost his job.

'It's depressing to think about it, but what can I do?' I suppose I tried to survive in this world until I died of old age.'

'I'm hoping heaven is nice to me… or is it hell?' For me, this world is also akin to hell. I suppose I can consider it a warm-up if I end up in hell rather than heaven.'

He just sat there, blood pouring from his mouth, waiting for his fate. The fire appears to have spread to almost every corner of the apartment. The crumbling concrete caused by the fire has completely smashed both of his legs. Bobby's memories reveal themselves.

'When I think about it, why would I try to be a hero and help my neighbor escape from the fire?' She has never been nice to me and always ignores me when I try to strike up a conversation with her. 'I guess my face is too hideous and frightening for her.'

'I can't help but chuckle from the moment I was born until now. It's been nothing but misery for me.' Life doesn't seem to like me. I consider suicide occasionally, but I don't want my efforts to live a better life and free of suffering to be in vain.'

'When I think about it, dying alone like this seems preferable. I guess I'll end up in the newspaper or on television news tomorrow with the people who died in the fire.'

Bobby closes his eyes as the sound of an ambulance siren seems to come from afar and the smoke from the fire appears to make his breath slowly become hard and the fire that has been crawling into his body. Bobby left this world after only a few minutes.

"It's a boy, Lord Luther," the maid informed the tall and handsome man with a mustache and dark red hair.

In front of them is a boy with multiple scars covering his entire chest and his left cheek lying down with his ragged cloth.

"Hmm, it seems like this boy ran from something without direction and ended up here because of exhaustion," Lord Luther said to his maid. "Bring him to the castle and ask him what happened to him."

Lord Luther remains after the maid has left while bringing the boy into the castle, looking at his butler.

"Kill him if you find he's suspicious; we don't want any spy from another kingdom infiltrating this place and pretending to be an innocent little boy who lost and ended up coming here," Lord Luther stated coldly.

"Yes, my Lord, I will try to gather information from him as soon as possible," said the butler.
