Chapter 1 - Transylvania

15th Century, Brasov

Michael wakes up on a Monday morning feeling refreshed from last night's work. He is about 100 years old but being a ghost (who can live for 1000 of years); he looks like a sixteen-year-old teenager. A rather skinny man than a healthy one. Having brown skin tone and black eyes. He isn't that much charming in looks as his father and older brothers, but he is still ambitious and always tries his best to make friends, although no one is his genuine friend. The ones who are friends with him are only there because he is the crown prince of the Ghost-Kingdom of Transylvania.

Ghost had been living on this planet since the big bang. They had everything for them. Their lives were luxurious, and they had the entire planet to themselves. After the first human walked on this planet, everything turned upside down. That one man turned into hundreds and then thousands and eventually millions. Each century passes by and there is no sign that these humans will ever leave this planet. Even when the population of humans had grown at a rapid pace, they heavily outnumbered the ghosts, being only less than a thousand. This was because there were only male ghosts. The richer ghost you are, the more sons you can have. Kings had a maximum of four, while the ones who weren't well off faced difficulties in having their own son. Ghosts who were poor had no kids, since they couldn't afford one. Young ghosts are born by the mixture of gases and, because of being expensive, not everyone can afford them.

Eventually, when human population was everywhere, the ghosts went into hiding in Transylvania. Ghosts have the power to make themselves visible or invisible in front of humans. Till the 14th century, Ghosts lived in Transylvania unbeknownst to humans. But then Vlad (Michael's father) declared war on humans. Vlad had been on the throne of Transylvania since the 6th century. Vlad wanted to restore the glory of ghosts and succeeded at start, but eventually, it was he who suffered the most. Half of his population faced death, and he even lost his three elder sons to the war. Worst of all, because of the war, humans noticed Transylvania.

Present day, 15th Century, Brasov

Vlad knows that the end of ghosts will be inevitable if he doesn't do something quick. Vlad knows they will erase his people from existence if he doesn't do something about the emerging threat. After Hundred years of war, Wallachia and Moldova, both Human Kingdoms have united against the ghosts. To protect his own interests, it is his duty to stop the unification. Once the Wallachian Princess gets married to the Moldovan King, Transylvania will no more.

Today, he has to send his son Michael to Wallachia to stop this marriage from happening. Vlad has lost three sons, but fate has made him sacrifice his last one, either. Everyone in Vlad's court knows about the cruelty of the humans. They know that whoever goes there never returns. Vlad is passionate, and so is Michael. Vlad has taught Michael enough to survive in Wallachia.

As Michael enters Vlad's court, everyone stands up to greet the young prince. Walking sternly towards his father, he doesn't glance at the nobles in Vlad's court who are standing to greet him. Instead, he walks up to his father and bows down in front of him.

Vlad raises a sword. Vlad never had this sword before, but in a clash against humans, he kept it with himself as an award of honor.

He tells his son to stand up and hands him the sword. "You know what's coming for you, my son. If you don't want to go, I won't insist." Vlad says, giving Michael a one last chance to turn back, but he doesn't. "No! Father. Today is my day to prove myself. Today is my day to end the war and bring happiness to my people. I will dearly do this for you, my father." Michael says sternly and loudly, trying to convey his message properly. All of his life, nobody looked at him as someone important or deserving of the title of Prince, but now was the time for Michael to prove his worth.
