Chapter 104 - Missiles

Hundreds of missiles flew towards Prince Rayad's convoy, and they blotted out the sky with their flaming trails.

Draco audibly gulped when he saw this, for this many missiles was guaranteed to decimate the entire convoy.

The missiles flew straight into the air, and then began to fall down in an arc.

Even if their armored bus turned around to drive away, they would still inevitably be hit by some of the missiles.

Draco was wondering if this was the end of their plan. He thought that it was a tragedy, they would be annihilated before they even got into the capital city!

However, before the missiles could even complete their arcs, something suddenly happened.

A deafening roar was heard as a thousand rounds of heavy ammunition were shot towards the missiles.

These rounds left green trails as their tracers activated, and they impacted into the missiles and caused them to prematurely explode.

Draco stared with wide eyes as he saw several vehicles in the middle of Prince Rayad's convoy shooting towards the missiles with Anti-Aircraft guns.

These guns were massive, and they were mounted atop armored vehicles that Draco previously thought were normal tanks.

The AA-guns tracked the sky as they swiveled on their bases, and their thundering shots shredded through the missiles.

The sky looked like a fourth of July parade. The exploding missiles were like deadly fireworks, and the entire sky became so bright it hurt to look at.

After almost thirty seconds nearly all of the missiles had been destroyed, their blasts serving to destroy nearby missiles that hadn't even been shot yet.

However, some of these missiles had inevitably made it through the hail of gunfire, and they continued on their trajectory towards the convoy!

The missiles slammed into the convoy so fast that Draco barely saw them landing even with his enhanced senses.

The front of the convoy suffered heavy losses, and Draco watched as nearly a dozen vehicles were destroyed entirely.

The remaining missiles were aimed towards the back of the convoy, and Draco helplessly stared on, unable to do anything.

He saw a white light approaching right above his armored bus, and he knew that he was about to be blown into smithereens.

Suddenly, a green flash could be seen, and a green dome appeared above the back of the convoy.

When Draco looked ahead, he saw that this strange dome was emanating from Prince Rayad's own vehicle!

The missiles slammed into the green dome, but they exploded uselessly on its edges. The dome merely flickered with the impacts, and was seemingly left intact.

'That thing is amazing! I have to get one of those for myself.' Draco thought, awestruck by the technology.

After the missile threat had been quelled, Prince Rayad's forces began their counterattack.

They had to clear an opening in the blockade before the missile batteries could reload.

The enemy likely hadn't expected their initial missile attack to be thwarted so easily, so it gave the prince's forces an opportunity to push forwards.

Prince Rayad had around ten tanks, and they fired off heavy shells with defeaning booms.

These shells tore into the roadblock, and each one destroyed a different armored vehicle.

Heavy machine guns lit up the blockade as well, mowing down the enemy forces who were unprotected by a vehicle.

The blockade wasn't going to be broken so easily though, and they began to fire back once they recovered from the prince's counterattack.

A score of tanks traded fire as explosions went off throughout both sides of the battle.

Draco's spine tingled as he saw a vehicle to the right of their armored bus catch a stray tank shell. This vehicle was a troop carrier, and a dozen men instantly died as their truck was torn to pieces.

The prince's voice sounded off from Draco's radio, "Draco! We are going to create an opening. You will only get one, you have to drive through the blockade as soon as you see it."

"Copy. We're standing by." Draco replied, his nerves dialed up to the maximum.

Draco was wondering how the prince planned on creating an opening through the blockade, there were simply too many enemy vehicles blocking the road.

There were destroyed tanks and armored vehicles littering the path, and Draco imagined that there were hundreds of enemy soldiers behind them.

Except, the prince evidently had a plan to deal with this.

Draco looked ahead at the prince's armored vehicle, and he saw that a long metal tube was extending from the top of it.

The tube looked strange, but when it began to angle down towards the enemy blockade, Draco figured that it was a weapon of some sort.

He was wondering how a single weapon could possibly be of any help right now, but when the weapon fired he was left speechless.

The tube propelled an unknown object out of it, and the force of the blast was so great it rocked the vehicle backwards when it fired.

Draco's eyes tried to focus on the object, but it was simply too fast to even make out. In less than a second it had already impacted into the blockade!

The object impacted into the side of a tank, and Draco was able to see that it was some kind of missile.

However, the missile simply sat sticking out of the side of the tank without anything happening.

Just when Draco was beginning to think that it was a dud, a blinding white light began to expand from the missile.

This light turned into an explosion the likes of which Draco had never before seen.

The explosion was so great that the resulting shockwave shook the prince's entire convoy, and it shattered the windows of the armored bus.

Draco's ears were left ringing, and when he looked back towards the enemy blockade his jaw hung open in surprise.

This was because the front of the convoy had been entirely decimated, and an enormous crater now stood where the enemy forces had previously been!

The vehicles around the crater had been blown away by the shockwave of the blast, and Draco realized that this was the opening he was waiting for.

"Addo! Go, go! DRIVE!" Draco yelled, leaning over Addo as he stood behind the driver seat.

The prince's voice sounded off on the radio in Arabic, and he was evidently commanding his troops to move out of the way.

The armored bus drove at the maximum speed it was possible of reaching, its engine roaring as it was pushed to its limits.

Draco quickly reached the end of the prince's convoy, and some of the prince's own vehicles had been rendered inoperable by the blast.

Luckily the bus had a steel ramp welded to the front of it, and it plowed into the vehicles like a train.

The vehicles were thrown to the sides of the bus, and they continued onwards like a raging bull with a taste for blood.

Soon the armored bus came before the crater, and Addo swerved to the left to avoid falling into it.

There were destroyed vehicles strewn about the crater's surroundings, but the giant bus smashed through all of them.

On the other side of the crater Draco spotted the enemy forces regrouping on the other side of the highway, and he realized he was going to have to go straight through them as well.

The enemy defensive line had been broken, so there were only two rows of enemy vehicles spread out along the edge of the road.

Addo drove towards the remains of the blockade without slowing down, and they were quickly spotted by the troops ahead.

The soldiers on the ground started shooting at the bus, but their bullets were deflected by the armored plates.

Armored vehicles with heavy machine guns mounted on the top turned to join the fray, and their large caliber rounds dented the bus' armor as it drove forward.

All of this combined firepower was unable to stop the bus though, and it soon reached the enemy vehicles.

Enemy soldiers jumped out of the way, and the bus smashed into the side of a vehicle as it drove into the blockade.

"Return fire!" Draco shouted, and his men rushed to the windows with their own weapons.

They shot out of both sides of the bus, raining hell onto the surrounding forces.

The armored bus continued onwards, pushing the first vehicle out of the way and impacting another vehicle behind it.

It pushed this one out of the way as well, and then they were free of the blockade!

Draco laughed as he saw empty road ahead. The rest of the way to Tripoli's gates was entirely clear of enemy forces.

They were only around half a mile away from the gates, but Draco was surprised to hear footsteps on top of the bus.

'Damnit!' Draco cursed to himself, opening up the latch on the vehicle's roof to climb upwards.

Peeking his head through, he saw that there were three figures standing atop the bus' roof.

Judging by their aura, they were all powered individuals!
