Chapter 69 - Khalifa Haftar

After witnessing Lenny die for him, Draco was filled with a righteous fury.

Draco stood up beside the doorway, his heart beating fiercely within his chest. He held his pistol at the ready, but he knew he was surely outnumbered.

He blindly fired rounds into the room, but he didn't know if he had hit anything.

Shots began to fire back at Draco, and seeing the doorway that was basically a kill-zone, he knew that he had no hope of getting in through the door.

He backed away from the door and found a spot in the wall next to it.

The concrete was partially damaged from the earlier explosion, so Draco kicked at it with all of his might.

He could feel his cells going into overdrive under his command—His leg muscles muscles strained from the effort, but he watched with satisfaction as the wall caved in under his foot.

The wall exploded inwards in a shower of concrete, and Draco appeared behind the wall like a God of death.

He saw that there was a mounted machine gun pointed at the door, and Draco blew the head off of the man behind it.

There were two more soldiers behind them, and Draco shot the arm off of one of them and put a hole in the other man's stomach.

The man with the missing arm fell to the ground screaming, and Draco finished him off with a quick round to the head.

He could now see that the room was connected to a long hallway, and several men were charging at him from the other side.

They carried swords with electrified blades, and the electricity around the blade's edges crackled as they charged Draco.

Draco counted four of them, and he could tell from the pressure they were releasing that they were powered soldiers!

'These must be the powered guards the prince mentioned.' Draco thought, raising his pistol.

He shot the leading guard, blowing his chest open and sending him flying into the rest of the guards.

That stopped their charge for a moment, allowing Draco to unsheathe the sword from his back.

By the time he got his sword ready they were already upon him, and the next guard slashed out at Draco with his electrified sword.

While these soldiers were powered, they were clearly made from a weaker progenitor serum. This meant that Draco was able to see the attack coming from a mile away.

Draco leaned back, dodging the sword's blade as he swung his own blade in a counter-attack.

Draco watched as his sword dug into the man's neck, sending his head flying clean off of his body.

The man collapsed in a heap at Draco's feet, but the last two guards were now within striking distance.

They slashed out at Draco at the same time, forcing him to block one of the blows and jump backwards out of the narrow hallway.

They took that chance to surround Draco, and the guard behind him was giving him no time to recover.

He stabbed at Draco's back, and the man in front of Draco slashed at his head, intending to decapitate Draco like he had done to his comrade.

Seeing the incoming attacks, Draco took a deep breath.

Time seemingly slowed to a halt, and he entered a state of calmness that gave him a heightened sense of awareness.

Draco could see the men's pores expand with their sweat, and he could even sense their hearts beating in their chests. He could feel their fear and adrenaline, and in this state he could even tell when they were about to attack him.

He somehow knew exactly where to dodge, almost as if it was an instinct he was born with.

He dropped down to the ground in a squat, causing both of the attacks to fly over his head, and he slashed out at one of the guard's with his sword.

The guard's leg was severed at the base of the knee, and the leg went flying off into the corner of the room as the guard collapsed.

Ignoring the man's screams, Draco dropped to the floor and kicked up at the remaining guard.

The guard was currently slashing down at his form, but Draco's foot landed on the man's wrist and shattered his bones, causing the man to drop his sword uselessly onto the ground.

The man clutched his wrist in pain and fell backwards on his rear.

As Draco stood up and approached the man, the man began to plead for mercy in a thick African accent.

"P-please, sir! You don't have to do this! I can pay yo-" the man was saying before he was cut off by Draco's sword piercing through his mouth.

Draco pulled his sword out of the man's mouth and turned around to see the last remaining guard pointing a pistol at him.

This was the guard whose leg Draco had severed earlier, and before Draco had a chance to react the man fired three rounds into Draco's chest.

Draco's black uniform was evidently not bullet proof, as the bullets pierced straight through the fabric to land on his chest.

The air was knocked out of Draco's lungs, and for a second he thought that he was dead.

However, when he looked down, he saw something miraculous.

This was because the bullets had been stopped by his thick chest hair!

Draco stared at his chest incredulously as he saw the flattened bullets fall from his chest, clattering down onto the floor below.

Seeing this unbelievable sight, Draco couldn't help himself and burst out laughing.

"I thought I was cursed, but eating that Ape must have been a blessing in disguise!" Draco said, grinning maniacally.

The man on the ground looked like he saw a ghost, and he dropped the pistol as he tried to crawl backwards.

Unfortunately for him, his severed leg didn't allow him to go far. Draco walked up to the man and stabbed him through the heart with his sword.

He watched the light leave the man's eyes, making sure that he was dead this time.

After wiping his sword clean on the dead man's clothes, he sheathed it and pulled out his pistol.

Draco looked down the hallway and saw that no one else was coming out, so he began to walk down it.

The hallway was dark and grimy, illuminated only by a single bulb that blinked unsteadily.

Once Draco reached the end of the hallway he saw a metal door, he tried to open the door but found that it was locked shut.

Aiming his pistol, he shot out the doorknob. Taking notes from Ron, he kicked the door open with a well placed kick.

The door flew off its hinges and into the room, and since Draco didn't want to end up like Ron, he took a step backwards.

He picked a piece of concrete up off the floor and threw it into the room, and Draco quickly became glad for his caution.

An explosion went off in the doorway, causing Draco's ears to ring as he held his pistol up at the ready.

Once the ringing stopped he advanced into the room, ready for any other traps. However, what he saw in the room surprised him.

This was because the room was what appeared to be an entirely normal office!

There were bookshelves along the walls and fancy looking paintings, and in the center of the room was a large wooden desk.

Behind this desk was an oval window, overlooking the entire compound that was now lit up in a flaming blaze.

There was a figure sitting at the desk, and they were evidently surprised to see that Draco had survived the explosion.

He reached for a revolver that was laying on the desk, but a quick shot from Draco's pistol knocked the gun away.

"Easy, now." Draco said, smiling menacingly.

The man raised his hands in the air, shaking his head in resignation.

Draco immediately recognized the man's features. He had dark skin and a scar over his left eye, he matched the description of Khalifa Haftar to a T.

"Khalifa Haftar, the Khalid Dynasty sends their regards." Draco said, raising his pistol to take out the infamous warlord.

However, the man said something that made Draco pause.

"W-wait! I have something I know you want. I have caches of progenitor serum hidden away!" Khalifa said.

Seeing that Draco wasn't shooting him, he quickly continued.

"If you kill me now you will never know where they are." he said, grabbing a few papers from his desk and spreading them out.

"I also have recipes for various progenitor serums, the formulas have all been refined for decades. I paid a fortune to get these." he continued.

This caught Draco's attention.

"How do I know these are even real?" Draco asked, still not lowering his weapon.

Khalifa Haftar laughed, "Take a look for yourself! I assure you they are all real formulas."

Hearing this, Draco walked towards the desk to take a closer look.

However, as soon as Draco lowered his gun, Khalifa pressed a button on his desk.

Draco jumped back in alarm, and watched with widened eyes as the warlord's desk opened up to reveal a terrifying weapon.

It was some sort of large gun that was built into the desk, and its barrel started to rapidly rotate as it began to glow with a green light.

Not waiting to find out what it could do, Draco quickly dove to the side.

He was barely quick enough to escape with his life, and he felt his foot get pierced with a bullet right through the base of his heel.

Taking cover behind a bookshelf, Draco waited until the shots had stopped before revealing himself.

A full thirty seconds later the shots had stopped, and Draco left his cover to find that Khalifa Haftar was missing!

There was a hole in the glass window, and Draco guessed that the African warlord had jumped out of the window to make his escape.

Considering that they were probably five stories up, Draco wondered if the man had survived the fall.
