Chapter 49 - Sight

Draco awoke with a start inside of his cell.

He jumped upright, gasping as he rapidly looked around.

Realizing he was back in his cell, he let out a sigh of relief.

Looking at the familiar walls that he could see his own reflection in, Draco was simply glad he was out of that blood-stained chamber.

However, something seemed off.

He couldn't quite tell what it was, but his reflection in the wall seemed to be… clearer than before.

Draco rubbed his eyes, sure he was just imagining things.

As he was rubbing his eye, he suddenly realized something and snatched his hand away from his face.

'Sh*t, my wound!' he thought in horror.

Except, Draco realized belatedly that there was no pain!

Reaching out his hand to his face, Draco tenderly felt the area around his left eye.

Opening his eyelid, Draco was stunned to realize that he could see out of his eye!

'Wasn't this eye destroyed in the fight?' he thought to himself in amazement.

Feeling the rest of his body, he noticed that his right shoulder and left foot were completely healed as well.

He rubbed his shoulder with his hand, marveling at the lack of a hole.

'The medical technology here is incredible.' Draco thought, astonished.

Standing up from the metal bed, Draco stretched his limbs and looked around.

He spotted a pile of clothes sitting on the floor in front of the door.

Draco walked up to the door and picked up the clothes.

Examining them, they seemed to be quite normal.

It was a simple white T-shirt and sweatpants, and Draco had previously seen other prisoners wearing similar clothing in some of the other cells.

Draco changed into the clothes and was impressed by how comfortable they were.

'These are no doubt luxury clothes. They're probably more expensive than any designer brand, but it really shows the reality of my situation. I'm just a prisoner of the wealthy.' he thought bitterly.

This was a lot for Draco to come to terms with. Just a short time ago he was in the good graces of a favored princess of the Dynasty.

Although he was just a servant, Draco was able to come to terms with that fact because he had gained super powers!

Unfortunately, Draco had now lost his protections and was thrown into a state of the art prison meant to hold individuals like himself.

All for committing the crime of simply being clumsy in the wrong place and at the wrong time!

Draco also had absolutely no clue as to why he was being forced to fight to the death, but he figured it was just par for the course.

As he tightened and tied his sweatpants, Draco wondered if he was ever going to be able to go back to drug dealing.

Once he finished changing Draco then walked up to the window.

Seeing the depressing sight ahead of him, Draco sighed.

"What a cruel world we live in." Draco mumbled to himself, looking at the stacks of cells above and below him.

Draco took a closer look at some of the cells, but was surprised at the level of detail visible.

He randomly noticed one man pulling his hair out atop his bed.

Weirdly enough, the detail was so crisp that Draco could see the individual hairs in the man's hand.

'I've got to be hallucinating, right?' Draco thought.

He looked in another direction, and this time Draco found a man pacing around in his cell.

Except that Draco could clearly make out a small tattoo on the man's neck.

The tattoo was of a small dove.

The tattoo was not significant, but what was is the fact that Draco could see the tattoo at all!

'There's no way I would've normally been able to see that.' Draco thought to himself, confident something strange had happened to him.

It wasn't strange for Draco to think this, for the stack of cells in front of his were nearly 200 feet (60 meters) away.

'When my eye was destroyed it must've somehow recovered stronger than before.' he thought excitedly.

Draco was only half right, for in truth his eye had not recovered, but been replaced entirely!

Draco was unaware of this and simply attributed it to the Khalid Dynasty's advanced medical technology.

Stretching his limbs out, Draco realized that his muscles felt better than ever.

He flexed his biceps and thought he could audibly hear his muscle bulging.

'Incredible.' thought Draco, watching the veins pop out of his arm.

While Draco was marveling at his muscles, his cell abruptly shuddered, sending him rocking.

CLANG

When Draco looked outside the window, he instantly noticed that he was moving.

"Sh*t, again?!" Draco exclaimed, knowing what this meant.

Shortly afterwards red text began to flash on the window, as if mocking Draco's attempt at relaxation.

'AHMAR IMMINENT'. the text continued to read even after the room was plunged into darkness.

The room's suddenly turned to red, and the blinking text increased in speed until it was unbearable to look at.

Seeing this "Ahmar Imminent" message, Draco knew that he was about to be plunged into another yet another life or death battle. He took this opportunity to quickly settle his thoughts and prepare himself for battle.

Suddenly, a metal sheet slammed into place over the window and the cell abruptly jolted to a halt.

CLANG

Draco maintained his balance, watching as his room door slid open.

Stepping outside, Draco was greeted with what appeared to be the same hallway he had previously walked through.

Ominous red lights made the normally white walls look sinister, and the stench of blood was thick throughout the hallway.

Already knowing what he had to do, Draco began down the long hallway.

A short while later a solid wall stood before him.

Draco braced himself, now knowing that once he crossed that wall his life could very well be forfeit.

'Whatever lies ahead, I have to face it. Ever since the moment I first saw the Hamin back in Las Vegas I knew what I was getting into.' thought Draco.

'Besides, they can't keep me here much longer.' he thought, mentally encouraging himself.

**INITIATING AHMAR # 2 - 2 - 7.** droned a robotic voice.

Before Draco could register it, the wall had disappeared.

The effect was just as disorientating as the first time, and cold winds blew into the hallway from the now empty space.

Most notably, a pungent odor flew into his nostrils. The stench reeked of blood and putrid meat and caused Draco to gag when it reached his nose.

Looking ahead, Draco cursed aloud.

"Not this sh*t again." he grumbled.

He said this because ahead of him stood a small stone platform, seemingly standing high in the air.

Draco was now familiar with such environments, so he stepped forward carefully.

Wind buffeted his baggy clothing, and Draco looked down to see that the platform he was standing on was actually an extremely tall pillar!

Below him raged a blood red sea, and its waters crashed around the stone pillar he stood upon.

Draco figured that he was over a hundred feet in the air, and he took a deep breath to steady himself.

Looking around, there seemed to be countless other pillars standing throughout the sea. Some pillars were significantly higher than others, making the entire area reminiscent of a strange stone forest.

All of these pillars were extremely thin, leaving only a small area to stand on. This meant that these pillars were dangerous to maneuver on.

There had to be hundreds of these pillars scattered through the red sea, and due to their density Draco couldn't see anything further than a few dozen feet ahead.

Steadying himself, Draco took a moment to collect his thoughts.

'It looks like the only way to move forward is to jump to another pillar. Except, I can't see where I'm going.'

Draco then came to a realization and looked around, spotting an abnormally tall yet thin pillar in the distance.

The pillar stuck up above the stone forest, and Draco figured he could use it to survey the area.

'This one's perfect.' Draco thought, suddenly jumping to the pillar ahead of him.

Draco was given no shoes, but his bare feet did not impede his movement in the slightest.

He hopped to the pillar ahead, stabilized his balance, then hopped to the next one.

In this manner Draco leaped across several more pillars before he was forced to stop by a large pillar that blocked his path.

This pillar was only a few feet in front of the one he was standing on, and barely wide enough for him to stand on.

However, it towered far above the rest of the pillars. Draco knew that if he could get atop this one he would be able to get a good vantage point.

He looked down and saw the ferocious red sea over a hundred feet below him.

The sea smashed against the stone pillars, creating red foamy mists that smelled of copper and iron.

'How much blood must be in this sea?' wondered Draco in abstract horror, dizzy from the heavy stench of blood in the air.

Directing his attention back to the tall pillar in front of him, Draco steadied himself and promptly launched his body towards it.

As his body hit the pillar he spread his arms outwards and wrapped them around it.

Gathering his weight, Draco then began to climb up the pillar, using his legs to push his body upwards while his arms held him steady.

The maneuver didn't look glamorous, but neither did the hundred foot drop into the foul sea below.

A short while later Draco had reached the top.

He pulled himself over the edge and dusted himself off, not even winded from the endeavor

After all, this small climb was still nothing compared to the colossal pillar he had to repeatedly climb back in the Gravis Chamber.

'What's up with the Khalid Dynasty and giant stone pillars?' Draco wondered absentmindedly while he took an account of his surroundings.

He didn't spot anything of notice, and below him stood countless rows of stone pillars that went further than his eyes could see.

However, Draco's left eye caught a small movement in the distance, and his brain subconsciously picked up on it.

'Hm?' thought Draco, glancing off in the distance.

Suddenly, a small figure came into view for a split second before quickly disappearing once again.

'Over there!' Draco said internally, registering a figure climbing a pillar hundreds of feet away in the distance.

Draco didn't know how, but he could somehow see that the figure had long white hair.

Even more eye-catching, the figure seemed to be entirely nude!

"What a sight!" Draco laughed, caught off guard by this unexpected turn of events.

Even though he must've been 800 feet (244 meters) away, his eye could make out the figure's curves, and Draco clicked his tongue in appreciation.

'Such a heavenly body, it's a wonder that I can even see it from all the way over here.' Draco whistled.

Draco, completely unaware of his eye's newfound abilities, attributed this to the woman's outrageous curves.

As he continued to watch he saw that the woman's movements were erratic and figured that she didn't know which direction to go.

Draco watched with interest as the woman then climbed a smaller pillar and began to survey her surroundings.

She seemed to be unaware of his presence, and when Draco realized this a smile crept onto his lips.
