Chapter 33 - Spoils

(AN: Sorry about the hiatus, everyone! I recently got back from traveling, and also Elden Ring came out. I hope you all understand! Updates will be resuming back to normal from now on.)

"Looks like you've found something interesting." Sada said to Draco, standing a short distance in front of him.

"Looks like it." Draco said, twirling the cane around in his hand, "I feel lighter just holding it, and I feel a weird sensation coursing through my body."

"Oh?" Amira said, suddenly interested, "I can't detect any aura from it, but based on your description I'm certain that it's at least a standard-grade artifact."

She looked closer, focusing her attention on the sheath, "This sheath seems strange, it's almost as if it's blocking my senses." she said as she walked closer.

As Sada was inspecting the sheath, her eyes briefly flashed a dull golden color. However, this flash was so brief that Draco missed it entirely while he was examining the cane.

"The fact that the sheath is preventing me from reading the aura of the blade itself immediately gives away its status as an artifact. However, any powered who aren't aware that the cane is an artifact will likely not find that strange." she said.

Sada continued, nodding her head, "You've definitely found a rare treasure. Unlike your firearm, which is hidden by your robes, this can be hidden in plain sight."

Hearing Sada's explanation, a smile creeped onto Draco's lips. Holding the cane in his hand, he began to look at it in a new light.

'This was definitely worth grabbing. I'm not too sure I count as a swordmaster, but something this powerful will definitely help make up for it. From what Sada was saying, a weapon that hides its aura will be necessary in cities from now on.' Draco thought to himself.

Draco looked at Sada, "I'm definitely keeping this. The last thing I want is this 'Order' taking me out while I'm eating a burrito because they detected an artifact on me." he said.

Hearing him, Sada simply nodded her head, "The Dynasty does not prevent its members from keeping their spoils of war, and the Ḥāmin has not claimed it."

She then turned around and looked at the carnage their recent battle had caused in the parking lot. Numerous cars were damaged or destroyed, and car alarms were blazing throughout the concrete building.

Sada knew they had little time to make their escape, so she said, "It's time to go. We'll escape through the rooftops."

However, as she was preparing to set off, she seemed to remember something. "Oh, of course. How could I forget?" she said to herself as she walked over and grabbed the butler's severed arm from atop the burnt patch of concrete.

Tossing the arm to the Ḥāmin, Sada said, "Based on what that troublesome duo were saying, they likely won't be telling The Order about what happened here. That doesn't mean The Order won't investigate though, so just to be safe we'll take that with us and dispose of it. It should at least buy us a little more time."

Hearing this, Draco patted her on the shoulder and said, "Great thinking, let's get out of here then."

The feeling of Draco's hand on her shoulder caused Sada to shudder, and she promptly removed his hand before shooting an icy glare at him.

"Indeed, let us leave." she said, her voice noticeably more hostile.

Draco figured that she was likely just sensitive, so he noted to avoid randomly touching Sada in the future.

Soon, the three robed individuals were sprinting through the loud parking lot. They quickly approached the edge of the parking lot and saw that directly across from their floor was the rooftop of a nearby building.

Without slowing down, the three of them jumped through the side of the parking lot. As their robes billowed behind them they traveled what could have easily been 30 feet (9m) and landed on the rooftop below them.

Sada and the Ḥāmin landed atop the rooftop gracefully, and hardly caused any disturbance on the roof. However, Draco seemed to have slipped upon landing and kicked up a few tiles before stabilizing himself.

"I'm still getting used to this, slow down a bit." Draco said with a wry smile on his lips as he began to follow the two powered who seemed much more agile than himself.

They continued to travel across the dim London rooftops in this manner, with only the light of the slowly rising sun illuminating their surroundings.

If anyone would have looked up at the rooftops at the right moment they would have been confused to see three blurs speeding by with the sunrise behind them.

Soon the three of them had returned to a familiar looking building that stood above the nearby ones. Landing on a rooftop next to their hotel, the trio dropped into a nearby alleyway before organizing themselves.

Soon they walked out of the alley and headed into their hotel, carrying the spoils from their recent expedition.

Amira was carrying the resplendent white purse, Draco was now walking with a luxurious looking cane, and the Ḥāmin had somehow hidden the Butler's severed arm within his robes.

Draco was wondering what the Ḥāmin was going to do with it, when suddenly he remembered something.

'That's right, Emma and Rebecca! I completely forgot about them in all of the chaos, they're probably still asleep in my room.' he thought to himself.

"Sada, I'll be right back. I'm going down the street to get some food, you want anything?" Draco asked, trying to gauge her reactions.

However, Sada just shook her head and said, "I'm fine. Just be careful and don't make any mistakes. The Order is definitely on high alert now."

Draco nodded his head and waved his hand nonchalantly, "I'll be fine, I don't make the same mistake twice."

Sada said nothing as she watched Draco walk out of the hotel lobby, her eyes unreadable as the Ḥāmin stood next to her.

Draco returned back to the hotel without incident, and was now standing in front of his room door with bags of breakfast on each of his arms and his cane tucked under one of them.

He somehow managed to open his room door, and once inside was surprised to see that both Emma and Rebecca were awake and sitting on his bed.

They were sitting in their underwear, and judging by their messy hair they had not yet had a chance to fix themselves up. However, Draco had to admit that the two scantily clad women still cut a captivating figure while sitting on his bed.

The two seemed to be having a conversation when they were interrupted by the door opening, and bright smiles appeared on their faces when they heard Draco.

"I'm back." he said, putting down the bags of food on a nearby table.

"You got food?" Emma asked curiously, standing up from the bed.

"That I did." Draco replied, "I didn't know what you girls like, so I got a little bit of everything. I hope you like pancakes." he said with a small laugh.

"We love pancakes!" Emma said, smiling as she walked up to the table.

"And they say Chivalry is dead." Rebecca chuckled, following Emma to the table.

The three soon began to eat, and after finishing an entire portion Draco quickly realized something about his newly powered body.

'I haven't eaten much since my injection, but only just now is this hunger hitting me. Suddenly I feel as if I can eat four more of these meals, maybe even more. I'll hold myself back because the girls won't have anything left to eat, but I wonder what's going on?' Draco contemplated to himself.

However, his train of thought was interrupted by Rebecca's pearly voice.

"So Draco, what were you doing up so early in the morning? You seemed to be in a rush." she asked curiously.

Hearing this, Emma also focused on Draco, curious to hear his answer.

Draco on the other hand just scratched his head awkwardly and laughed, "Oh, I was just running some errands for someone."

Emma raised an eyebrow, "Someone? Like one of these 'associates' you mentioned earlier?' she asked.

Draco nodded, "Well something like that, she's a… well, she's my boss."

Rebecca was now even more interested, "I wonder what kind of person this girl is, to be the boss of a man who can fly and send men flying with a single punch."

Draco smiled wryly and began to shake his head, "It's better if you don't know."

Emma let out a light laugh, "I'd imagine."

Draco continued, "Actually, it's probably best if both of you pretend like you've never met me after we part ways." his eyes turned serious for a moment, "I won't tell you what to do, but just know that I can't protect you if something happens as a result."

Hearing this, Rebecca smirked, "What, do you think we're daft? If we were to leave this hotel and start telling our friends that we'd just slept with a drug dealing monk who had super powers, we'd get laughed out of the room."

After Rebecca said this Draco couldn't help but laugh.

"Very true." was all he said in response, and after that the three ate in silence for a few minutes.

Soon, though, their meal was interrupted by a series of knocks at the door. Curious as to who it was, Draco got up from the table and headed to the door.
