Chapter 303 - Let Yourself Go

Alpha strode toward Alejandro, who, struggling to remain standing, looked on as she spun her twin blades with effortless precision. Her gaze was cold, almost indifferent, as she considered her options. "I'll give you a choice, agent," she said, her voice calm but laced with iron. "You can walk away, unharmed, or stay and fight—though I assure you, you'll be in need of a doctor if you choose the latter. So, what will it be?"

Alejandro's expression twisted in frustration; he could feel his own limits pressing in, sapping his strength, but he couldn't bear the thought of surrender, especially not with Elian's expectations looming in his mind. "You… you think you've won?" he shot back, tightening his grip on his sword. "Not a chance! I've come too far to let you beat me here. I'll leave victorious—or not at all."

He whipped his sword to the side, its tip pointing defiantly at the shattered walls behind her. "Losing to you? That would be a disgrace, a humiliation. And if that happened, Elian would never let me hear the end of it!" He lowered his voice, eyes blazing with stubborn pride. "So prepare to die, you flat-headed menace!"

Alpha's gaze darkened, her once calm face now set in a mask of quiet fury. "Engaging with you is like stepping on dry autumn leaves and feeling no crunch—a disappointment," she said, her voice low but steely. Her grip on her blades tightened, and a deep blue aura began to seep from them, like liquid shadows spilling into the air around her. She stepped forward, her voice carrying a note of finality. "Impact of the Phantoms…"

The air around her rippled with ghostly silhouettes as dark blue energy swirled and flared, crackling with silent power. Alejandro scoffed, charging forward with reckless speed. "If you think a few petty phantoms are enough to stop me, then you're even dumber than I thought!"

But as he lunged, Alpha's eyes flashed with a blood-red gleam, the demon blood within her awakening, her heartbeat thundering in her chest. In an instant, Alejandro's body froze midair, unable to move, his momentum shattered by an invisible force.

"What the hell is going on?!" he growled, straining against the invisible hold.

Alpha's gaze shifted to the side, where another woman stood, her piercing blue eyes locked on Alejandro. "That's enough, Alejandro," said Agnes, her voice calm but brooking no argument. "Elian's orders came through. The fight is over. The white-haired pirates won, and Timothy defeated Riley. You're to stand down."

Alejandro's face twisted with disbelief. "Agnes! What are you saying? Riley—lost? That's impossible!"

Ignoring his protests, Agnes released him from her grip. "Accept it. It's over." Alejandro staggered slightly as the hold vanished, his mind reeling. "No way… How did Riley lose to a kid? It makes no sense. None of this makes any sense…"

Alpha lowered her blades, the blue phantoms fading back into the ether. A slight smile tugged at her lips. "As always, Timothy pulls off the impossible. That lunatic never fails to surprise." She sheathed her swords, her posture relaxing as she pocketed her hands.

Just then, Ayuka stepped up beside her, resting a hand on her shoulder. "So, you're the one stirring up all this chaos, huh?" Ayuka asked, her tone both exasperated and affectionate. "What happened to you?"

Alpha gave a small sigh, glancing briefly at Agnes, who watched them with silent detachment. "I pushed myself too far," she admitted. "Overdid it to the point of hurting my shoulder. I had to, to keep her from pinning me down. But I won't lie—I won't be able to use my power for days now."

Agnes turned away, her voice dismissive. "This isn't over, Alpha. If not for Elian's command, you'd be dead right now." She shot Alejandro a look, sharp as a knife. "Now, let's go, Alejandro. I won't ask again." Alejandro muttered a curse under his breath, sheathing his sword as he followed her, his expression still clouded with resentment.

As they retreated, another voice called out, loud and unmistakable. "Ayuka-swan!" Ayuka groaned, pressing her hand to her forehead, already knowing who it was. "I'd know that voice anywhere…"

Meanwhile, Kou and Kyora rushed toward Chiaki, relief flooding their faces. "I can't believe it!" Kou panted, his voice breaking with excitement. "I thought we'd lost you, Chiaki!"

Kyora stepped forward, her eyes warm and bright. "Now that we're finally here, let me introduce myself properly. I'm Kyora, the navigator. Nice to meet you, Chiaki." She offered a gentle smile, her voice soft.

Chiaki returned the smile, pressing her hand to her chest. "Thank you… all of you. I'm Chiaki. I don't know what to say, except I'm grateful you came."

Kyora's smile deepened. "Of course! We're glad you're safe."

Then, Timothy approached, his eyes somber as he looked down at her. "Chiaki… I understand a lot now, but I still can't shake one question. Why would you hide something so important from me?" He paused, his voice thick with emotion. "Six years ago… after you told me your name, you disappeared. And until today, I couldn't even remember your real name…"

Chiaki exhaled, steadying herself. "I was afraid," she said softly, looking up into his eyes, her own filled with vulnerability. "I didn't want to lose a friend as dear as you. I couldn't bear to tell you the truth about who I really am. You were the first person who didn't judge me, the first who made me feel seen. I wanted to hold on to that memory, hoping that someday, I'd be brave enough to tell you everything."

She took a deep breath, her gaze unwavering. "So… if there's any way we could start over, if you're willing… I'd love to be your friend again. It would mean so much to me…"

Before she could finish, Timothy closed the distance between them, his arms wrapping around her with a tenderness that spoke of unspoken promises, of a love untainted by time or circumstance. His embrace was both firm and gentle, a paradox that grounded her while soothing the broken fragments of her soul. She could feel his heartbeat beneath her cheek, steady and sure, and in that beat, the pulse of his unwavering faith in her, in them. His warmth poured into her like sunlight after a storm, washing away the shadows of her fears and anxieties, lifting the weight of years of solitude and regret.

In his arms, she found a sanctuary. A place where she was no longer just a shadow, no longer the girl lost in secrets and lies. She was simply Chiaki, and for the first time, it was enough. She let herself breathe, let herself melt into him, trembling with relief, with joy, with sorrow that she had kept hidden for so long. The world felt small in his embrace, all the pain, all the battles, all the endless nights of loneliness, faded into the background as if they never existed.

"Chiaki," his voice broke through her thoughts, soft yet unyielding, like a vow spoken under a sky full of stars. "Listen to me, and listen closely. It doesn't matter who you are, or where you come from. It doesn't matter how many pieces of yourself you've hidden away. I don't need to know everything to know one thing for certain: I won't ever let you go. Even if the world crumbles, even if I'm broken beyond repair, even if everything changes, I will always be here for you. You are in my heart, and you will stay there, always."

His words hung in the air between them, each one a thread weaving their souls closer, binding them together in a way that felt more real than anything Chiaki had ever known. His lips, so close to her ear, shaped each syllable with a care that made her heart ache with gratitude. They were a promise—one that would outlast the stars, outlast everything that had tried to tear them apart.

Chiaki's own tears, long held at bay, finally slipped free, rolling down her cheeks in a steady stream. Her body shook with the weight of emotions she had buried so deep, but now, they poured forth like a river that had finally broken its banks. She didn't try to stop them. She didn't try to hide. This was her truth. This was her release.

In that moment, she wasn't afraid anymore. She wasn't afraid of the past, of the lies she'd told, of the hurt she'd caused. She was safe. For the first time in so long, she was allowed to feel, to simply be.

Her arms hovered at first, unsure of herself, unsure of whether she deserved to return his embrace. But as her heart pounded in her chest, and the rawness of everything they'd shared finally reached its peak, she closed the space between them. Her arms slid around his back, pulling him closer, her face pressing into his chest as she surrendered to the overwhelming flood of emotions. Her body shuddered with the depth of the moment, and for once, she wasn't holding anything back. She wasn't hiding the fragments of her heart, the pieces of herself she had always been too afraid to show.

"Thank you," she whispered, her voice thick with emotion, breaking on the final syllable. She let the words fall freely, a testament to the trust she had found in him, in this moment, in them.

From the corner of her eye, Chiaki saw Kou wiping his nose, his face crumpling in the way that only someone who had never expected to see something so raw could react. Kyora glanced at him, her expression softening as she took in the sight. "Wait, Kou… are you… crying?"

Kou quickly turned away, his voice suddenly defensive, almost childishly so. "I'm not crying! Y-you're crying!"

Chiaki couldn't help the soft chuckle that escaped her, her shoulders trembling with the remnants of her tears. Timothy, still holding her close, smiled at the exchange, a small, quiet laugh escaping him. Then, his hands moved gently to her face, tilting her chin up so that their eyes met. His gaze was so full of tenderness, of certainty, that it almost seemed like he was seeing her for the first time—not as the girl who carried her secrets, but as the woman who was finally letting them go.

"Remember this, Chiaki," he whispered, his words a sacred promise. "Don't you ever forget this moment. Don't forget that no matter what happens, you'll never be alone again. Not in this world, and not in the next."

His voice was soft, like the flutter of a leaf in the breeze, but the strength behind it was undeniable, a vow carried on the wind. But as his words lingered in the air, something changed in him. His arms softened, his hold loosening just a fraction, as if a veil of darkness had passed over his expression. His eyes, once full of warmth, now seemed distant—almost as if the weight of a thousand battles had suddenly pressed in on him.

For a brief moment, it felt as though he wasn't truly with her, as though his soul had wandered into a place she could not follow. The darkness in his eyes was unsettling, a shadow that she could not reach, a part of him he had not shared yet. But the moment passed in the flicker of a heartbeat, and when Timothy looked back down at her, it was as though nothing had changed at all.

And in that moment, Chiaki realized that no matter how much pain they had both endured, no matter how many secrets remained between them, they had found something far stronger than fear. They had found each other.
