A terrible thunderstorm intensified the sea.
The Vast Expanse pirates and the ships of the world government engaged in a deadly war.
Ship battles between the government and the pirates broke out quickly over the seas and on land.
It was havoc and a disaster for people living in that era, as they were on the verge of death, waiting for the inevitable. They knew their demise would soon arrive and that nobody was safe.
The victims were hurt, and the cannons were fired.
The worldwide government declared war with the intention of safeguarding society, but the results were more negative than positive.
The war took place on a special island named Chilmiota Islands. It was an island in the middle of four other islands surrounding it.
On the middle island stood a city known as Sancola. It was also the homeland of the Yasuda family and where the Spirit Flower Agency stood.
The Spirit Flower Agency is a facility isolated from the world government's authorities. While it's known to exist, the people at the Spirit Flower Agency worked for themselves. Their goal was usually to protect their homeland. And if things went berserk, their intentions were usually to side with the pirates.
Due to their organization working together with the pirate crews, they were usually safe. And despite their alliance with the pirates, the world government intended to ignore its existence until the Spirit Flower Agency would commit its biggest crime.
They resolved to use their Soul-Linking abilities to aid the pirates in battle after witnessing their people getting killed one by one and their country destroyed.
Their objective was transparent and honorable because they were simply fighting the world government to end the deadly war and protect their own lives.
"Haruko! The world government and the pirates aren't planning to stop this war any time soon! They've already killed hundreds of people from the two islands surrounding us! If we don't act, our homeland will be destroyed." A woman shouted, standing behind Haruko.
Haruko was a tall, slender man with silver eyes and blue hair in a thin braided ponytail swaying past his right shoulder. He wore a stylish shirt, a black tie, and a long red earring that hung from his left ear.
He observed the combat being fought through the window. "I can see that, Mia. I wish I could fix things, but there is nothing we can do. Concerning the global government, we are totally inconsequential. In contrast, it was never intended for our bodies to fight each other. We put our energy into strengthening the bonds we form with others by connecting our souls to them. But as you can see, we have no connections to make, especially since we don't have anyone to link with correctly. Our linking powers wouldn't mean much if we empowered others with our linked souls and gave ourselves dominion over their bodies."
Haruko explained, seeing the city in front of his view enveloped by an inferno and screaming civilians. It wasn't just grown-up men or women. Children were hurt and killed as well.
"Yes, Haruko! But, the rest of the Yasuda family is eager to take action to safeguard these individuals! We cannot simply watch as people burn to death or get mauled by other soldiers!" Mia shifted her top slightly, exposing a flower tattoo on her chest.
"Don't you see! We share this same symbol as proof that we're from the Spirit Flower Agency! We agreed to help people in need and protect our homeland! Yet now you want to wait for death without even trying to do something about it? That's ludicrous!"
Haruko sighed, turned to face Mia, and peered into her pink eyes. "What about my daughter? Chiaki hasn't even lived for a year. I can't let her die as a mother without even introducing her to the wonders of this world! We can try to end this war so I can teach my daughter something other than tragedy and death!"
Concerned and anxious about Chiaki, Mia contacted. "The remainder of the Yasuda family is already assembled outside, waiting to join this conflict! Please, help us!" Mia called, but Haruko declined.
"Only you, me, your daughter Chiaki, and her brother Blythe remain from the Yasuda family. The rest of them are our supporters who are Spirit Flower Agency members. We are one of the very few individuals who can connect our spirits with another person."
In a rage, Mia briefly winced. "Haruko, stop being such a moron! I'd hope that at the very least, my brother would pay attention! But I suppose you're too self-centered to realize that even if we pass away, we can still carry on the Yasuda family heritage in some way! We only need my son and daughter! We've already won the fight if the rest of us perish and those two manage to flee to safety!"
She called, her voice quiet and sorrowful. "So, respectfully, my brother. Let's concentrate on preserving my children's lives! Let's bring them to safety, please! We both know that the odds are against us in this war. We'll most likely perish in this war, but the same doesn't need to be for Blythe and Chiaki. They are too young to die."
Haruko inhaled and exhaled. "So, you accept that our deaths are guaranteed, Mia?" He questioned, composed, and understanding.
She placed her hand on her chest and nodded. "Of course, I know. But if the final members of the Yasuda family perish, then what was the point of our history? If we save my children..." Haruko interrupted. "We can still fight against the world government."
Mia modded. "Then there's the fact that our ancestors engaged in criminal activity, but I taught my kids a different mindset. Chiaki will be the only female left in the family, which I realize may sound absurd. Chiaki and Blythe may maintain our history and cherish our final moments. And unlike our parents, I am confident they won't end up trying to wipe out the earth."
Finally gaining understanding, Haruko asked the last query. "Mia... Are you conscious that you won't ever see your kids again? And are you cognizant that no matter how you raised them, your children might end up just like our parents?"
"I am aware of the danger and am prepared to accept it. But I'd rather see children get by, mature, and have friends who will show them how to behave."
After a long sigh, Haruko continued. "Very well, Mia. We'll get them a boat So that her older brother may flee the war with her sister. Let's collect the members of the Spirit Flower Agency and carry out our responsibility to defend our country, even if it means giving our lives."
To be continued...
