Chapter 257 - Railway Battle - Part 03

The storm brewed harder and faster. The rain became more frequent, and the train continued at high speed.

Alpha confronted the foremost agent Naeve. She revealed that the members of the group developed brand-new abilities.

And while the two girls fought on the roof in a storm, Timothy proceeded to the next cabin. But he was blocked by the foremost agent Parth right after.

Meanwhile, Chiaki remained at the front of the train, seated next to Riley, the leader of the foremost agents. She didn't speak. All she did was look through the window or at the floor.

"I'd like to inform you about the new orders, Yasuda." Chiaki didn't look at him but listened to the information. "You are to be brought to the Naron Chain. There were some "difficulties" around Vendurn, so the fleet admiral decided to cast your execution with the usage of the forbidden chain." Chiaki understood that the execution site wasn't comfortable, but to avoid expressing fear, she remained silent.

Riley looked away forward. "I heard that you, Yasuda family feared the forbidden chain. I must admit. I'm surprised you haven't tried to run away, even though you know what's waiting for you." He explained.

Chiaki observed through the window. "Please... sit down on the other chair." Riley sighed but stood up and switched seats. "Try not to run away. The ocean's dangerous."

Naeve's hands gripped her sword tightly. She was upset. "I can't believe a demon would partner up with a human. It's absurd. Demons were always against humankind, but once erased from existence, the world was clean. It wasn't long before we discovered another one living. We captured him and nearly imprisoned him. But he somehow escaped, and just when we thought he would be the last, another one showed up."

Alpha could see the fury in Naeve's eyes. "And because you're one of a kind, I'll enjoy cutting you. I will never forgive what your race has done to me. The world will become a better place, extirpated of any demon race and pirates. And I'll start with you!"

Naeve swiped her arm forward, opening a portal in front of her. She tossed a floating spear, ready to pierce Alpha's head, but failed. Alpha deflected the speeding sword by knocking it back with her own. "If you wanna tear me apart, you'd be killing a human!" Alpha stepped forward with her left leg, slashed her sword horizontally, and released a crescent. It zipped over the cabin's roof, planning to pound Naeve dead-on.

Naeve bounced off the roof, leaped high above Alpha in the air, and whipped her right arm. She summoned three blades in front and fired them forward like bullets.

Alpha skipped a gap with her feet and maneuvered her two swords between Naeve's armory. She defended herself from getting sliced, stopping the opposing blades from progressing. She curved her right arm past her left shoulder, charged up her energy, and then professionally jabbed forward.

She burst out an invisible slice that nearly pierced through Naeve's body. But instead, it missed and exploded into a heavy gust.

Naeve moved her arms behind her and swapped the swords with a whip. She tossed it forward, wrapped it around Alpha's blades, and pulled back. "Get ready! Because you're in the way!" Naeve yelled, pulling Alpha in the air.

"Wha'?!" Alpha got flung behind Naeve and dropped on the last cargo. She rolled off the roof and grabbed onto the edge. "D-Damn!" she called, barely gripping the edge due to its slippery body.

"If you're out of my way, the white-haired pirate will be easily stopped! Goodbye, demon!" Naeve replaced her whip with a pistol and shot at the railway coupling, splitting the last cargo from the train.

Alpha's cargo began slowing down and distancing itself from the rest of the train. "Goodbye, flattie!" winked Naeve and landed on the roof.

Alpha's mouth shivered in frustration. She quickly climbed onto the cargo's roof and regained balance. She sprinted on it and leaped high in the air while Naeve dropped inside the train cabin.

"That girl was really stubborn. Just looking at her made me furious." The train started descending back underwater, with Alpha still stuck outside.

She was surprised. "It's going back underwater?" asked Alpha, feeling her feet slowly sinking underwater. "Crap!" without wasting too much time, she jabbed her swords through the cabin's roof before getting washed away by the ocean.

She held her breath, and within the next second, the train rushed underwater.

Her skin came in contact with the water and began to press at her heavily. She held on strong, fighting back against the water. She held onto her swords with full might and focused on not breathing.

The train sped further into the ocean's depths, preparing to enter a tunnel.

Timothy, blocked by Parth, noticed that they were underwater. It immediately stressed him out. "D-Damn it! Alpha!" he called, nervous to think about his friend possibly being in danger. "Oh, you're worried about your friend? I'm sure she isn't dumb enough to stay outside the train. She'd get washed away like a helpless fish." Parth claimed, keeping calm.

Timothy repeatedly moved his sight between his back and front. "She's okay, I know it..." he thought to himself, trusting his guts. "Now, if you'll excuse me. I've been restraining myself for far too long. It's about time I send you to bed." Parth lifted one of the chairs and propelled it forward.

Timothy ducked beneath it, but Parth continued propelling any movable object in the cabin. Luckily, the train's size was larger than any normal train, so there was enough room for Timothy to rely on avoiding. "I need to get to Chiaki!" Timothy exclaimed.

Alpha rapidly lost her grip on the blades, but she continued to give it her best. Her body was getting pushed back while her blades slowly lagged behind in keeping her safe.

Due to the water's pressure, she could barely hold her breath and started letting out bubbles from her mouth. Her whole body was wet, and it nearly undressed her.

She continued holding on tight and noticed a tunnel in the distance, despite her vision becoming blurry. "Hold... on..." she thought, her hands slipping from the hilts.

"I... need... to..." one of her hands finally let go of the hilt, and her sword started to wiggle. She was only holding on with one arm.

The only question was, "Would she be able to overcome and hold on for long enough to get back on the train?"

Somewhere in the Vast Expanse.

Somebody picked up a phone. It looked like a hand of a female. She pulled the phone next to her ear, her white hair visible. "I need to talk to you."
