Chapter 246 - Elites

The underground prison. It's where the fallen pirates reside, captured by the world government's authorities. The prison expands through the whole underground of La Isleta Cortada. The corridors connect each other, and despite having one entrance, it holds multiple exits. In the underground prison, there are currently over 20,000 pirates that have been captured and imprisoned. It's the prison where Chiaki was stuck for multiple weeks.

But now, the day of execution rose. Chiaki's execution has been planned to begin one day earlier. Due to the world government being notified about an intrusion, they are bound to speed up the process.

Her faith has been decided. She would be put on the underwater train under the watch of the foremost agents. She is to be brought to Vendurn, otherwise known as the execution site.

Yet to reach Vendurn, they must pass a 700-kilometer railway. Luckily the underwater train's been modified with enough pressure to arrive in one hour or two.

In the meantime, as the troops of the world government struggle to block Tim and Phoebe's path, Chiaki remains imprisoned and is soon to be approached by a guard.

The footsteps were thumping through the prison's corridors and passed multiple cells in which the pirates are locked. The prison's sheer size and the large number of prisoners are enough to be filled with loud voices. It's the complaints and frustration of the captured pirates.

Chiaki's cell is located in the southern part of the prison on the third level. It's the very bottom of the prison. It's where the more dangerous pirates reside. Since the underwater train is stored near the northern side, it would take time for any prisoner to reach it.

Chiaki was sitting in the cell alone. She wasn't well-fed or treated correctly. She suffered, knowing that her execution wasn't far away from starting. But what was worse was her poor knowledge. She didn't expect that her execution would take place sooner.

She was surrounded by silence, apart from the voices of the other prisoners. She had her arms and head stuck between her legs and stared at the ground.

She heard voices of the prisoners, "Let us out! Let us out!" around her. The sheer number of complaints didn't even irritate her. She was well acquainted with how much these prisoners suffered. After all, she's been stuck with them for weeks and learned how it feels to be mistreated.

But finally, one of the guards approached her cell. "Chiaki Yasuda, prisoner NO. 19,871. You are, hereby, to be taken to Vendurn today. Your execution time has been altered for the second time. You are to come with me and board the underwater train. You'll be watched over by the foremost agents in case any unwanted visitors interfere with the execution."

Chiaki slightly raised her head. She gave up on everything, but she wanted to know. She stood up and approached the door. "The report claims that the white-haired pirate Tim joined forces with a member of "Sea Wolves" pirates, Phoebe. They have come to try and rescue you, and therefore your execution needs to take place a few hours sooner." Chiaki's eyes opened widely, shaking at the delivered message. She started to sweat and feel confused, but even after that, she spoke not.

The guard hurriedly put on the chains to keep her from using any abilities and stepped behind her. He placed his palm on her back and pushed her to move. She had no reason not to move, and to no surprise, she wanted to be executed sooner. She was dragged through the corridors between the cells of other pirates and was somewhat ready to reach the underwater railway.

La Isleta Cortada started gathering more and more troops on the northern side, where the invasion was ongoing. The troops were to block Tim and Phoebe's path, but their success was low. Tim and Phoebe continued to pile on through hundreds of marines.

They were getting attacked from different alleyways and sprinted ahead. Tim blazed on through the troops without a problem. He kicked, punched, and burnt through a bunch while Phoebe fought back with ropes.

"Troops! Gather immediately!" one of the men ordered. Phoebe cared not and dashed past him, wrapping the rope around his torso and spinning him around, only to smack his head on the floor.

She carried on, pulling the rope back, and then ran into an entire line of troops. "Shoot her down!" they shouted. And then like dominoes, locked their rifles on her. She didn't have much of a defense and seemed rather worried. "I can't do much against all of them at once. But I'm not gonna let them hit me!"

She stretched her right arm to the side and began spinning her right rope with her left arm. "Leave them to me!"

She heard Tim's voice rushing behind her back and then felt heat rising. Tim leaped over her head, surrounded by orange fire that quickly mixed itself with blue hues. She pulled back, sliding on the ground to stop, and then observed Tim landing in front of her, ramming his fists into the ground.

Once he did, he unleashed orange and blue flame pillars erupting from the ground. The multiple pillars of fire blitzed forward, melting their way through the iron bullets. It caught the soldiers in its path and exploded them out of the way.

"Man, that ability has endless uses! I wish I had something this disastrous." Exclaimed Phoebe while standing behind him. "It has its weaknesses, but without them having the ability to use the forbidden technique of armory, it's hopeless for them to try and hit me." They continued sprinting forward and through the defenses that the world government deployed.

They were getting closer to the headquarters but were still a good distance away, and it would still take them several minutes.

Once again, they were blocked by the world government's troops. Tim was once again ready to fight them with enflamed fists, but suddenly another obstacle entered the field.

The two of them noticed a giant silhouette leaping out of the sky, and before they could proceed or attack, that silhouette came crashing down with immense force.

They struck their fists into the ground and elevated stones from the floor that Tim or Phoebe couldn't defend. They were hurled back by its force and slid back.

Once the dust cleared out, they were greeted with a powerful enemy. They glanced to see their foe and noticed that it wasn't human. It was a bear on two legs that had his wrists wrapped in golden bracelets. "What the hell?! Is that an oversized bear?!" questioned Tim, startled.

Afterward, another person stepped from the troops out in the front. He held an instrument; a violin. Unlike the standing bear, he was skinnier and dressed weirdly. He wore a top hat with a black buttoned suit and long black pants. He appeared older, but what stood out the most was his long nose and mustache beneath.

"Ya-ho-ho! We have been called upon by the fleet admiral and are here to stop you from continuing." The man with the long nose called. "My name's Gootsy, and this is my partner Snoobs. We cannot let you pass any further. Therefore we shall be your next opponents."

Tim and Phoebe exchanged eyes with the new enemies and noticed that every exit was blocked by the troops. "Great. I didn't think I'd be fighting a Pinnochio and a super bear from the children's comics." Exclaimed Tim, knowing that backing away would be impossible.

"Keep your guard up. They aren't the only enemies we need to worry about. There are probably many more from this point onward." Phoebe's warning was well understandable.

26 minutes remain before the underwater train's set to go...

To be continued...
