Chereads / GINKEN: Sea Storm / Chapter 82 - Decayed Sword

Chapter 82 - Decayed Sword

The conflict between various individuals continues. While Codey looked for Elliott, who was lost somewhere in the kingdom's western reaches, Karisa and Ireene, along with Sand Shark Surfers, finally made it to the top of the stairwell. Walmo, together with Devia, Tisch, Vrook, and Dora, reached for their spears on the back of their heads and launched them forward. The spear started killing the guard bandits, one by one, with barely a few surviving, and even ringed them on their way in.

Tisch, gripping the handle of his second spear, easily defended himself while simultaneously eliminating the one robber. Vrook dived behind another and cut upward, eliminating another robber in the process. Dora and Devia participated in a struggle against a squad and were successful in destroying them, while Walmo worked alone to clear the way for Ireene and Karisa to enter the temple. As they continued to move ahead, he looked at them and dodged one of the bandits, knocking him out with a slam of his elbow.

"Karisa, Princess Ireene! Continue on, we'll keep these bandits occupied! Ascertain the king's safe return from the temple!" With smiles on their faces, the two girls turned around and nodded in answer. They accepted their assistance and expressed gratitude.

"Thank you so much, Walmo! We swear we'll return the king to his throne!"

They both jumped over the gap in the floor and landed on the platform in front of the temple's entryway. They dashed inside and rushed forward, Ireene leading the way for Karisa to follow her within and deliver her to the cellars' bottom.

"We must move quickly! We can't say for sure if they've relocated the king, but we're well-informed about them now that we've finally decided to conquer this kingdom and reclaim our once-great king!"

The conflict raged on in the western part of the kingdom, where Elliott appeared to be more defensive than usual in warfare. He jumped back to dodge the blows, as well as sidestepping and ducking the attacks thrown at him by Marienne, who maintained her sweet grin throughout the struggle.

Elliott summoned the resolve to fight by taking a little step forward and immediately ejecting electricity from the blade of his sword. Marienne rapidly raised her spear and made a peculiar item at the tip of her spear's tip after swiping it from behind her back, past the hip, and cutting obliquely.

Elliott felt a sudden pulse pressure into his blade when his sword collided with her spear, which easily bounced him to the side. Marienne crouched in front of him and surged forward as he lost his footing and began going backward. She swept her palm into Elliott's stomach and released another tremendous pulse, which pressed into his stomach and launched him back into the air.

Elliott started whirling through the air to control his flight and totally encircled himself with yellow electricity that flared in every direction. He managed to fix his body to face Marienne after spinning and instantly bowed with his torso forward, stretching his both legs behind him to descend on the floor, and put his palm against the surface to slow down the pace with which he was forced to slide on the ground.

He began to carve a line of lightning into the earth while slipping before abruptly straightening his body and plunging his right sole into the ground. As he brought his blade behind his back and sliced forward, the electricity he created in the ground was rapidly absorbed by his blade.

Marienne squatted and sprang high into the air, using pulses she formed beneath her soles, as a bolt of tremendous lightning grew from the carved floor, toward her. She was observed flying through the air as a bolt of lightning slashed through the structure behind her, setting it on fire and shattering it into tiny pieces.

Marienne began to speed up every other summoning of the pulse by releasing pulses from the tips of her soles to leap on the air as if it were a solid floor. Elliott found it difficult to keep up with her motions and began to scan the air, seeing only the flashes and pulses of her peculiar skill.

In a matter of seconds, Elliott tried fighting by swinging his sword in the direction of the shockwaves, unleashing bolts that never managed to strike their intended target. Elliott felt a heavy pressure behind him and spotted a sweet smiling Marienne landing behind him and striking forward with the spear in a strange time. She went at his back, which he managed to avoid by trusting his instincts and sprinted forward. He used the energy as a boost and ended up sliding on the floor after dodging the spear.

He took two steps together in the middle of the slide and rapidly tapped one of his soles into the floor, rotating around to slash the sword from beneath his left hip and aiming it upward. He launched another straight and forceful bolt of thunder ahead, this time with enormous voltage. It dragged over the floor, nearly obliterating it, until Marienne hopped up into the air and successfully avoided the attack.

Elliott lost track of her until she reappeared in front of him. Her spear was turned the wrong side up and she was crouched. She slammed it into Elliott's stomach, causing him to spit saliva and experience massive shockwaves throughout his body. Elliott's body was hurled through the air after the successful strike, and Marienne rapidly spun the spear and turned the spear's point back at Elliott.

The spear she wielded began to build pressure, and it was shot out like a bullet of clear wind from that point forward. It was imperceptible, yet it was quick and intense. Elliott felt it being shot into his gut, forcing him to fly further back and having little chance of recovering in time before the second one was hurled at him.

Marienne swung forward and materialized on top of Elliott's soaring body. She was turned to face his stomach and her palm was opened. She slammed it down on Elliott's stomach, crushing him against the floor, causing a gigantic bubble of throbbing shockwaves to rise around them. It quickly smashed the ground and even propelled Marienne into the air, where she easily controlled her body movement and even flipped back. She abruptly began to stand on the air and gazed down at the shambles she had created.

She giggled and started spinning the spear, then paused for a few seconds to let the dust settle before noticing Elliott's body had vanished completely from where he was supposed to be trapped.

Elliott's physical body developed as a current of electricity zapped behind her, forming his physical body as he clutched the sword beneath his hip, pointing its tip behind his back, and releasing strong sparks of energy. He had been severely battered and scratched. Even though he was sweating from receiving so much damage, he continued to attack with his next move.

"10 Million Volt, Thunder! Thunderous Tackle!"

His hair became spiky. The lightning encircled his torso and spread into his veins from there. The power morphed into an aura that completely engulfed Elliott before exploding. With the force of a thunderbolt, his body lurched forward. He slammed his shoulders on Marienne's back and began dragging her behind him. His speed was unmatchable, and the hit rendered Marienne absolutely immobile, preventing her from moving or attempting to flee.

Elliott's body unleashed the full source of his power and expanded through the air into a gigantic bubble that zapped and slashed through the parts of the damaged wall in the following second.

Elliott's body then launched back into the air, away from Marienne, as he parkoured between the flying pieces and descended to the earth safely. He landed flawlessly, but because to the high volt usage, he began to feel exhausted and breathe heavily. He was sweating more than usual and wishing it was over.

But it wasn't as straightforward as he had hoped. Marienne came out from beneath the wreckage and fully shattered the rubble into smaller pieces, as if nothing had happened. She smiled as she bent forward with her torso.

"That was an impressive move. You have my praise."

Elliott absolutely shrudded toward seeing how durable and powerful she was as they stood in front of each other, staring with a battling fervor. He didn't even understand how her ability worked, so he decided to ask her.

"I don't understand. How are you able to stand after such a blow? Furthermore, your talent is nonsensical! You can make shockwaves, but you can also use them as a tactical skill to move quickly."

"Oh, my goodness, I forgot to tell you about my special skill. My skill is simple to comprehend. It's a means for me to modify the air inside my body and shape it any way I desire. I can utilize it to produce massive shockwaves, give myself an extra boost in agility, and control it whatever I choose. Take a look at it this way, my darling. If you gather wind and concentrate it in one place of your body, then release it all at once, you will produce a pulse that will allow you to move quicker and even walk on air. Consider a ship drifting in the wind. The ship will be slow and difficult to steer if there is no wind. Is that clear?"

"So, basically, you can gather wind and manipulate it in whatever manner you choose. I assume you can't make winds, hurricanes, or storms like Codey, but it appears to be rather reliable in terms of using it as a speed boost in battle. I'm not sure which of your abilities is superior to Codey's, but either way, those shockwaves will be stopped for good!"

Tim lay on the floor with his arms spread out had his eyes closed and started to inhale the terrible wind of ongoing battle. He was beaten up pretty badly, but was able to survive after nearly being grabbed by Byron's decaying sand. His sword was lost and his worries grew worse.

("I can't seem to summon my weapon once more, damn it! So, what am I to do now? Fighting without the use of weapons? I've never been particularly good in hand-to-hand combat, but I suppose I'll have to learn after what happened. If I escape, I'll never be able to keep my pledge, and obtaining another weapon will be fruitless and time-consuming...")

He raised his eyes to the heavens and saw Byron floating in mid-air. He was looking down at him with a confident smile, waiting for Tim's next move, which was to start releasing fire from his fingertips, which slowly began to whirl around the floor.

He considered it for a time before deciding to fight without weapons. He carefully rose up, using his hands to assist him, and then returned his gaze to the sky.

("That sword was supposed to be produced from the "Holy Light's" blood, energy, and aura, but it gets ruined so easily. It was undoubtedly built to withstand a variety of violent attacks, but none as effective as rotting. It will never be able to resist deterioration, no matter how tough it is, but-")

"Ah, screw it! Don't even consider it! What has been done is done! It can't be undone! I guess I'm stuck with my release and can't do anything about it. Now that neither of us has a weapon, I think the battle is more even! Then again, he toyed around me, like it was nothing, even when I had my sword..."

Tim slowly moved his hand in front of his chest and began to release fire that smoothly flowed around his arm. He felt extremely tired and couldn't breathe normally.

The battle continues...
