Elliott and Nina stared up at the sky, their bodies frozen in place and their mouths trembling. They were nervous, afraid of the evil voice coming from the region, but it didn't take long for Nina to summon the courage to speak.
"What's your name? You're not a god, right? Just tell me I'm dreaming, please." Nina began biting her own nails after swallowing her own saliva. "I am the island's defender! I am the deity of the natural world!" The voice resonated around them, repeating itself. "A god? You're kidding, right? What does a god have to do with a place like this? We swear we wouldn't cause any problems!" Elliott screamed and shook himself even harder.
"Unless you want to burn in the ashes of the rest of your limbs, I strongly advise you to leave this island immediately!" Hearing the man's laugh, Nina and Elliott got down on their knees and began worshiping the sky. "We'll get out of here, but don't kill us!" But, to their dismay, Elliott summoned his bravery and hopped up, pointing to the sky.
"What's more! We're not going anywhere! You'll have to beat me if you want us to leave! Now is the time to attack me!"
"Elliott, be quiet! This isn't getting any better!"
"He wouldn't be frightened to show himself and battle us if he's a deity. The gods have divine abilities, so if he possessed them, he could simply destroy us, right, god?!"
The man's voice began to murmur, attempting to avoid saying anything.
"I mean to say... Well, I mean to say! Why should I waste my time fighting such underlings as yourselves? You are unworthy of my time, but if you do not leave, I will exact my wrath upon you!"
"Just let us live! We're leaving!" Nina pleaded, only to be denied by Elliott.
"We're not going anywhere." Nina jumped and wrapped herself around Elliott's torso as he pretended to be brave by crossing his arms. She put her hand over his mouth and began yanking on his hair. "We're on our way! Stop being such a moron!" Despite Elliott's continuous screams, he refused to speak to her.
"Let's go, I said. I'm not going to die because of an idiot like you!"
The voice began to sound strange and perplexed at their disagreement. When the man's voice laughed, Elliott proceeded to defy Nina's demands. "You've squandered my time and still haven't gone! I will exterminate you for such a blunder! Fight them, my warriors!" Both of them suddenly froze, and leaves began to shake.
When weird animals began to rush at them, they both glanced forward. "What exactly are those?! They appear to be completely messed up! We're gonna die! Elliott, hurry up! We must go!" Elliott, on the other hand, chuckled as he drew his blade.
"No way! This isn't going to happen! Stop, Elliott, before we-" Her request, however, was futile; it didn't deter Elliott, and he merely chuckled from there. Lightning flashed beneath his feet and spread upward.
It flared up and over his body, causing Nina to shudder and her teeth to tremble. Elliott had already bent forward before she could let him go. Nina's eyelids dotted suddenly, and she felt her body shoot forward. She shouted as she flew at breakneck speed.
The speed she was traveling caused her hair and cheekbones to wobble left and right. She couldn't stop herself from feeling like she was falling out of a plane. Elliott's speed appeared to be overwhelming her, and if she let off, she'd likely be trampled to death on the floor.
She only able to see dust and animals being flown around, trying to knock them off the island, while screaming on his back and trying to hold on.
Elliott, on the other hand, proceeded to accelerate recklessly throughout the field. As Nina's vision became hazy and lightning shot up her hair, he slammed his way through many creatures and continued to alter lanes and directions. Her hair felt like it was being drawn by a magnet, and her eyes were still forming dots.
Several times throughout Elliott's fight, she felt her body being lifted up.
Elliott squatted and increased the voltage and speed to jump high in the air, a smile on his face. She was launched with the force of a thunderbolt.
Her body appeared to be floating over the trees and the sea. She was screaming and clinging to Elliott, her legs dangling behind her and her hands on the verge of loosing go. Her cheeks swelled as she felt ill, and she observed Elliott noticing someone in the woods.
He smiled in the middle of the sky, increasing the voltage of electricity around him once more. He was getting ready to throw himself at the figure hiding in the bushes. "Found you!" Nina yelled in response to what he said. "You'd better not do what I think you're going to do!" Her body shot through the air like a meteor, travelling at the speed of thunder, but it was too late for her to hope.
She detected leaves, slamming against her body, as if she had collided with something.
Elliott appeared to be clutching the face of someone with his left palm. A enormous pulse of lightning traveled across the earth, climbing into the sky and exploding amongst the leaves, tearing them apart, as well as some trees, sending tremors through the island's ground.
Nina's pupils rapidly swirled as she barely clung to Elliott's body when it was all over. Her hair was in tatters, and she was strewn with ash and grime. "Hah, caught you, sucker!" Elliott screamed with a laugh as he pinned a man's body to the floor.
"So there you have it! Are you proud of me, Nina, my love? I captured the liar, and it turned out that the liar wasn't even a god!" When Elliott shouted and turned to look around, he noticed Nina's body shaking left and right, losing equilibrium as her pupils swirled.
"Left and right and right and left, left, right and right and up and down and left and right, right, left and once again left, then up once more and left, right." She began to swirl around, and her body crashed to the ground. With her spinning pupils, she stared up at the sky once more.
Elliott stood immobile, his gaze fixed on the man who was holding his head. "I mean, did that truly hurt? Why did you have to go to such lengths to almost murder me? You can't take a joke?" The animals who were assisting the man were staring at him and licking him.
"Why did you lie to us you were a deity when you weren't? We aren't here to raise a ruckus." Even though he seemed serious, the man sighed as he said. "Everyone who came here was looking for the buried treasure. Because I was the only one stuck on this island, I chose to keep the riches hidden there. Fortunately, the man soldiers and pirates that came this way were terrified and fled from me."
"So you're not here to put us in danger? You're not even here for the treasure, are you?" When the man inquired, Elliott promptly declined the request and stated the truth. "We've come for the treasure, of course! What other reason could there be for us to be here?"
Nina jumped and grabbed Elliott's mouth and ears as a result of his dumb remark. She began to feel a surge of rage and disappointment. Elliott let out a series of agonizing cries.
"You are a complete maniac! Are you trying to kill me?! I'd end up dead on the floor if I let go of you!"
"Hey! Ow! It hurts! Stop pulling me around!" The man continued to stare at them, perplexed. "How about a big fat "no"? Idiot!"
"Please, no more! It hurts, Nina! Actually, keep going; I enjoy it when it's a little rough." Those statements incensed Nina beyond comprehension, so she began whacking and beating the top of Elliott's head, forcing him to the ground and whacking a branch over his body. "How do you like it now, huh?! Jerk!"
"So, you're not here for the treasure? What are your reasons for this island?" The man inquired. He looked to have relaxed and become more approachable. "We were only passing through to check out the island. Others went in different ways, but we have no idea what they're looking for."
"There's more of you?"
"Uh-huh. We are a total of six people, but we paired up and traveled in various directions. We were merely passing by and got caught up in your zoo of trained animals."
"I believe I responded too strongly. Please forgive me if I assumed you were coming to steal the riches because of a sudden urge I had."
"It's all right. We can help you in finding it."
The man's eyes twinkled as he smiled broadly. "Would you really be willing to assist me? Thank you so much, I'd appreciate it!"
"Of course, if you're here alone and in need of assistance, we might as well help!"
