Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: The Mission's End / Future Potential

The atmosphere became tense and stifling, as the dripping of water from the cave wall echoed in the silence.

In seconds Cain charged the two boys armed with Sai needles, the boys retaliated in kind with their preferred weapon, Katana, and stone sword.

Sparks flew as their weapons clashed over and over Rein and Viden synchronizing their movements as best as they could.

"You two aren't half bad, maybe I should get it a little more serious," Cain commented

"You should," Viden replied.

Cain backed away from the duo as he started spinning his weapon rapidly, small electric sparks also became visible from them.

"I hope you can handle this speed!"

Cain forged forward with rapid speed, it became difficult for Rein and Viden to deflect his blow as they came heavier and quicker.

"How did this guy get so strong, just a few seconds ago his blows weren't anything to speak of." Rein argued.

"Rein take over for a bit?"

Rein took on Cain's strikes as Viden moved back, he began to conjure mana in his body to cast a spell.

Cain notices what is going on, he jumps in the air dodging Reins' attack as he throws his needles around Viden.

"Electric rod!!"

The air around Viden became heated as the hair on his skin stood up, he notices what is going on but is too late as the electric energy from the needles attracts him, electrifying him.

He fell to his knees becoming unable to move his body.

"Viden was like a positively charged mountain getting struck by negatively charged lighting, I doubt he will be able to move for a while." Rein Pondered.

"Your next blue flame boy." Cain menacingly declared.

Cold sweat ran down Rein's body, the difference in their combat experience became very visible.

Rein for the first time in a while feared his death.

At that moment, a voice woke him up.

Wind Boom!! A beam of dense struck Cain hard as he flew into the wall causing the room to shake.

Rein slapped himself the sound echoed through the room.

[Right I can't let Viden fight on his own we are supposed to be acting like a team.]

Viden got up slowly walking to Rein's side.

"How are you able to move after being electrocuted," Rein asked curiously.

"I just redirected most of the energy to the ground but it still paralyzed me for a few seconds."

"Haha." A laugh came from the cloud of dust by the wall.

Cain jumped into the sky take out numerous needles from his pouch as he spun around needles started raining down at Rein and Viden.

Rein embedded his katana with his azure flame as Viden also gripped onto the katana enhancing the flames with his magic.

Azure Wind!! They both slash the attack flew deflecting all of the needles before cutting Cain.

Phantom watched in amazement at the duo's coordinated attack.

"They remind me of us." Phantom ponders as lightly chuckles on the outside.

Rein and Viden smiled at what they had just done.

"What kind of spell or attack was that?" Mais whispered.

Cain's mask cracked revealing his blue anger-filled eyes, as warm blood dripped down his right arm.

"You dare spill my blood in front of my master!"

A javelin of lightning formed in Cain as the blood lust around filled the room Rein and Viden bodies began to feel weak as the pressure began to get to them.

In an unexpected event, Phantom put his hands on Cain's shoulder.

"That is enough I will let them live for now." Phantom instructed.

"If you say so, sir," Cain says as he reluctantly calms himself.

Viden fall to his knees in relief, but Rein remained standing intensely focused on the two masked men.

"What is with that suddenly huh, one minute you want us dead now you let us live." Rein argued.

"What are you doing Rein," Mais questioned nervously.

"The reason is I want to see how far you two grow and face of despair you make when it is still not enough."

"Like you will ever make us feel despair."

"What is the aura around this boy it's so strong yet he is still so weak compared to me." Phantom ponders in his mind.

Phantom grabs a sapphire gem from his pocket as he infused mana in it a portal formed in front of him.

The two men enter it but just before it closes a crystal is thrown at Rein's feet.

A few minutes pass as Mais heals Rein and Viden to the best of his ability with the mana he has.

"What is that sapphire crystal you have their Rein?"

"I don't know, to be honest, that guy in the mask threw it at me when he entered that portal do you think it will fetch for any money?" Rein answered.

"That's of more value than money that's our way out that's a portal crystal able to transport the user to a marked spot," Mais commented.

"That is how they got out but we did, mark a spot for teleportation."

"Luckily, there is one at the entrance of the Labyrinth."

"Let's rest up a bit and then get out of here." Viden urged.

After hearing Rein had gone to the King's Labyrinth Lot, Claire and Keia rushed over there to investigate but a mysterious person stood at the entrance.

"Who are you?"
