Both Feng Li and Yu Xin were facing some troubles. Feng Li was traumatized by his past and Yu Xin is too insecure. In the past world, the insecurity of Yu Xin can be explained, but in this life...Feng Li doesn't know. Feng Li opened his arms and pulled Yu Xin toward him. He hugged him. Feng Li was happy when Yu Xin asked him a question.
He smiled, saying, "I have no fiancée, it was in the past."
Yu Xin's lips rose but then again it went down. Thinking, Feng Li gave all his love to some other girl before. But he knew it was not Feng Li's fault for loving his fiancée.
Feng Li saw his sad face, he said immediately, "I agreed to get engaged with her because I wanted to join the army. She and I have nothing to do with each other."
Feng Li stated, "I even broke the engagement after one year when I was still in the war."
Yu Xin looked at him cautiously, asking, "Feng Li, did you ever love someone else?"
Yu Xin thought, 'If Feng Li did have a lover before, then he will try to keep Feng Li away from the past lover.'
Feng Li smiled and answered teasingly, "Baby, are you jealous?"
Yu Xin snorted, "Who told you I'm jealous, I'm just curious."
He pouted, muttering, "Who told you to be handsome?"
Feng Li laughed, and he dragged Yu Xin into his arms. His lips went closer to Yu Xin's ear. He pecked Yu Xin's ear.
Yu Xin's body trembled in reaction. He clutched Feng Li's clothes and leaned into Feng Li's chest. His waist was being held by a warm but strong hand.
Feng Li whispered into Yu Xin's ear, "You are the only one, baby." And nibbled Yu Xin's ear.
Yu Xin blushed, his voice trembling, "We have to sleep."
Feng Li carried him, he put him down on the bed, and lay down beside him. He hugged Yu Xin into his arms, and soon both fell asleep after a long day.
Three months passed by in the blink of an eye,
In these three months, many events happened, the rebels were all beheaded, and a month ago, all the evidence was presented in front of the emperor, making it easier to remove the rebels completely. Jing Tian and the Left minister, together with their family were annihilated.
Qin Ling was engaged to another scholar, who ranked first in the examination. Without Jing Tian, she was able to keep her family safe. And the scholar, she agreed to marry, promised to treat her well without taking any concubines in the future.
Feng Li finally met Yu Xin's dad. Chu Hua, who was supposed to break Feng Li's and Yu Xin's relationship, started cheering for them, after seeing Feng Li once. She ignored the system's threat of obliterating her and rooted for them.
Does the system think she will be afraid of death? She has no regrets. She was able to see a loving BL couple, which she longed to see. She believed; she would live a long life.
General Yu was still searching for his wife, unaware they were close. He was looking around everywhere. Without any enemies, he was able to search without any hindrance. Soon, he didn't find a single sign, even after searching everywhere. Until he reached the village, where An Nuo used to go to buy things.
On investigating, he came to know, his wife used to come to the market of this village to buy daily necessities. But, An Nuo didn't come to the village in the past few months as if the person has evaporated like a water vapour.
General Yu was saddened, but shocked on hearing, An Nuo had a child. The child was beautiful and looked similar to An Nuo. Both An Nuo and the child together came to market in the past.
General Yu looked at the villager, asking, "Did you know where he lived?"
The villager hesitated, then nodded slightly, "I only saw them going into the forest together. So, I thought they lived in the forest."
General Yu frowned slightly, thinking, 'How can a person live in a forest except if it was a lone hunter.'
He looked at the villager, and asked, "Can you show me the way?"
The villager agreed, he showed the path through which An Nuo went in. General Yu thanked the villager and walked in with his few soldiers. They walked on but saw nothing but trees and plants.
General Yu ordered his soldiers and gave them a lighter, "Let's divide and search. Also, come out of the forest before it turns too dark."
After saying, all of them went in different directions. They searched for hours but found nothing. Until a soldier ran into a house with a courtyard filled with wild grass. The house looked as if it was abandoned.
The sky was already turning dark. The soldier remembered the path and went out of the forest. He was the last person to come out of the forest. All his companions were worried together with General Yu.
Upon seeing the soldier, they released a sigh of relief. The soldier strode toward General Yu, he bowed, "General, I saw a house. It looked as if it was abandoned a few months ago."
General Yu's spirits rose, he patted the soldier's shoulder, "Thanks, boy."
General Yu wanted to rush in the direction of the house, but seeing the dark sky and the tired faces of the soldiers, he and the others went to live in the inn until the next morning.
Next Morning,
General Yu jointly with his soldiers, marched towards the direction of the house. After some time, they reached the abandoned house. There was a swing tied onto a huge tree in front of the house. General Yu strode toward the door of the house and saw the lock. He went behind the house, and upon seeing a window, he broke the window and went in. The house was cosy. It had two bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom...
General Yu strode into a bedroom and saw small toys on the rack. It was as if a child was living in this bedroom. It was like pampered child's room. He searched around the bedroom but found nothing.
General Yu then, went to the next bedroom. And the first thing that caught his eye was the calligraphy. The calligraphy was of An Nuo's. How can General Yu not remember the handwriting of An Nuo, in the past, both he and An Nuo used to practice calligraphy together.
General Yu's eyes watered. He rummaged through the drawers and cupboards. He found many calligraphies. At last, his eyes landed on a notebook. The notebook was old but it seemed that the owner treasured it very much.
General Yu took the notebook, it was the same book in which An Nuo used to write. But An Nuo used to hide it from him as if he was writing something secret.
Many years ago,
An Nuo was writing something in the notebook secretly. General Yu looked at him curiously.
General Yu asked An Nuo curiously, "Wife, what do you write in this notebook?"
An Nuo smiled at him, "I write my secrets in it, but don't you ever dare to read it."
General Yu who was still young, nodded. He swore, "I swore in the name of god, I'll never read this."
An Nuo laughed, his eyes shining brightly, "You don't have to swear."
General Yu shook his head, looking serious, "I don't ever want to make you unhappy."
An Nuo laughed even more and kissed General Yu on the lips.
In the present,
General Yu looked at the notebook. Once, he swore on the name of God, saying he'll never read this. But, today he was going to break that swear. He inhaled, and his trembling fingers slowly opened the notebook.
After reading a single page, General Yu's eyes turned red.
The notebook was filled with the past events of An Nuo. Everything An Nuo had gone through, from meeting General Yu to leaving him.
General Yu never thought a single mistake altered their life. If he just talked with An Nuo, coax him, and learn the misunderstanding, then clear it.
General Yu read the whole notebook, and his eyes filled with tears.
An Nuo was pregnant when he ran away...
An Nuo got kicked out of his group...
An Nuo had to give birth to the child all alone...
An Nuo had to take care of the child all these years...
General Yu knelt on the floor, his breath choked, and he cried frenziedly. How should he repent, will An Nuo ever forgive him?
His tears fell on the ground drop by drop.
The soldiers behind him were silent. They were saddened but didn't try to stop General Yu from crying. Sometimes, it's better to cry out loud to calm oneself down.
