Chapter 45 - Arc 2(15)

Yu Xin's countenance, resembling a ripe tomato, reverted back to its usual state. Seeking refuge under the protective cover of his quilt, he could not help but smile bashfully, his eyes sparkling with timidity. He could never have anticipated Feng Li's proposal to go on a date.

An attendant entered the room and directed her gaze downwards before inquiring, "Sir, would you like me to bring you breakfast?"

Emerging from the comfort of his quilt, Yu Xin promptly nodded in agreement and responded, "Yes, please bring me something to eat."

The maid respectfully bowed and exited the room to fetch the desired sustenance. In no time at all, an extravagant feast was presented before Yu Xin, causing his mouth to water uncontrollably. Only he truly knew the extent of his passion for delectable cuisine. Once the food was set in place, all the maids vacated the premises.

Carefully, Yu Xin approached the table adorned with mouth-watering delicacies and gracefully took a seat. However, right before indulging in the feast, a thought crossed his mind... he had not yet freshened up. Sighing in realization, he hastily made his way to cleanse his mouth. As he scrubbed his teeth and rinsed, memories of their previous kiss resurfaced, reminding him that they had engaged in such intimacy without adhering to proper dental hygiene. His mouth was undoubtedly in dire need of a thorough cleansing.

Covered with shame, Yu Xin hid his face behind his hands. However, the thought of delectable cuisine fueled his actions, causing his hands to move with even greater speed. Without hesitation, he dashed towards the table and settled himself down. His hands gracefully floated from one dish to another, ultimately finding solace within his mouth. Each delectable morsel that lay before his eyes, he relished with utmost delight.

In a distant land, far removed from the bustling capital city,

An exquisitely handsome gentleman appeared visibly distressed. His garments tightly clung to his clenched fists as he paced back and forth within a confined space. His gaze fixated upon a table adorned with a solitary letter.

An Nuo approached the table with intention and retrieved the letter. Once again, he perused its contents, struggling to fathom the unfathomable. With a mischievous glimmer in his eyes, he ventured forth in search of Yu Yan.

Yu Yan, a renowned figure often referred to as General Yu.

An Nuo could not erase the vivid memory of the day he witnessed Yu Yan engaging in an affectionate embrace with another individual. To his dismay, the recipient of Yu Yan's affections happened to be none other than their own servant. Never had he imagined that Yu Yan, who had previously vowed unwavering loyalty and devotion to him, would break such vows mere months after their sacred union. However, the blow to An Nuo's heart proved to be truly devastating when he discovered Yu Yan's subsequent actions. Not only did Yu Yan cease acknowledging his existence, but he proceeded to shower even more affection upon their servant. With a heavy heart, Yu Yan carried their servant into their private chamber, sealing the door shut behind them.

In front of the door stood An Nuo, surrounded by the echoes of gasps and the collision of bodies, accompanied by the sound of moans.

An Nuo's mind transformed into a jumble, his eyes welling up with tears. On that very day, he made the decision to escape. Thus, he fled, venturing far away from Yu Yan. Little did anyone know, he carried within him the child of Yu Yan.

Fortunately, he managed to conceal this secret from Yu Yan. He planned to disclose it to him on his upcoming birthday, which was merely five days away. However, everything shattered; his aspirations, fantasies, love... everything.

An Nuo was a fox fairy, a creature capable of assuming human form. Surprisingly, even a male fox fairy could experience pregnancy.

If being pregnant wasn't enough, there existed a rule in their realm of demons.

Regardless of gender, any fox fairy was bound to one life partner and could only love a single person for eternity.

An Nuo never anticipated that one day he would find himself caught between the proverbial rock and a hard place.

Nonetheless, he held no remorse for escaping from Yu Yan. He would rather live in solitude with his unborn child than share his life with a despicable individual.

Perhaps, Yu Yan remained oblivious to the extent of his sacrifices to unite with An Nuo. He had been cast aside by his family and ostracized by his social circle, his life taking a divergent course, one that veered sharply away from the path of his once-close family and friends.

An Nuo had always been a pillar of strength, never yielding to tears, finding solace in the knowledge that he had Yu Yan by his side. Yet, the person he cherished above all else had betrayed him. His once-determined eyes now swam with despair, and tears of anguish glistened, a betrayal that seemed unforgivable.

His beloved child, whom he cherished more than life itself, was now being taken away from him, and his heart harbored a deep-rooted fear that Yu Yan's intentions were far from trustworthy, that he might steal their son away.

Unbeknownst to An Nuo, the scoundrel Yu Yan was blameless, and everything that met his eyes was merely a web of deceit.

An Nuo, summoning his resolve, brushed away his tears. He closed his eyes in a bid to regain composure, and upon reopening them, his visage bore an emotionless façade. But for any astute observer, a well of sorrow and despair lingered deep within his gaze.

His determination solidified; he resolved to embark on a quest to reclaim his son, Yu Xin. With purpose, he swung the door ajar and ventured outside, his abode nestled amidst the heart of the forest, a sanctuary hidden from prying eyes.

In the tranquil confines of Feng Li's courtyard, Yu Xin, his cheeks flush with shyness as he contemplated his blossoming relationship with Feng Li, remained blissfully unaware of the impending arrival of his father in the Capital City. Lost in his own reverie, he wandered through the landscapes of his imagination.

Inside the study room, Feng Li was seated amidst an assortment of books, their pages whispering tales of knowledge. Abruptly, a polite knock resonated through the room, drawing Feng Li's attention. He acknowledged with a gentle hum, allowing the entry of a maid.

With a graceful bow, the maid conveyed, "Your Highness, Sir has already partaken of his morning repast."

A subtle smile graced Feng Li's countenance as he gestured for the maid to depart. However, before she could exit, he issued an additional directive, "Kindly prepare some desserts and have them delivered to him."

The maid responded with a nod, promptly making her exit.

Feng Li's thoughts turned somber as he contemplated his impending visit to the palace. He lamented silently, 'I must heed my royal duties, for if not for this obligation, I would gladly be ensconced with my little bunny in my embrace.' With a sigh, he rose from his seat, setting forth to change his attire.

A short while later, Feng Li stepped out of his courtyard, setting his course toward the imperial palace.

In the heart of the palace, amidst the lush greenery of the garden, the emperor and empress found solace in each other's company. Laughter and conversation flowed freely between them, painting a serene scene.

Moments later, Feng Li's figure materialized at the entrance to the garden, determined strides carrying him closer to the imperial couple. The empress beamed a welcoming smile, extending an invitation for him to join them.

While the emperor maintained a stoic facade, inwardly, his thoughts resounded with protests and complaints regarding Feng Li's intrusion. Although his demeanor revealed nothing untoward, the empress, who had known him since childhood, deciphered the hidden messages. She cleared her throat, casting a pointed glare that silently conveyed, "Our son has graced us with his presence; do not think of dismissing him."

Feng Li, observing this silent exchange, couldn't help but feel compelled to roll his eyes. It was the first time he'd felt forced to endure such a public display of affection. Resolving to shower his beloved bunny with even more affection, he discreetly coughed to recapture their attention and steered the conversation towards a more pressing matter, stating, "I've come to discuss matters concerning the rebellion," while inwardly adding, 'Not to bear witness to your Public Displays of Affection, mind you.'
