Chapter 6 - Difference in Privileges

'He's at the 15's!?'

Sir Adren felt his world turn with this number.

'Flora, from the Kaur Family, became a Top Student on her first mock exam, 248th. Now, you're telling me someone from the After Beyond Cult almost got into dead last?'

He began to doubt the machines that checked the tests or this student's name. Maybe they have the same name?

Sir Adren soon realized the latter was a dumb doubt. Although it had never happened before, there's still a tiny chance of machine error. But for it to happen to the kid who's the center of attention today, it must not be a coincidence.

However, little did he know that he was overthinking things.

Meanwhile, the students either noted their ranking or just memorized it. It's just four-digit numbers, after all.

Out of nowhere, someone raised his hand.

"Teacher!"

"Don't shout, but yes?"

Guleno stood up, and with a determined face, he asked, "How can a Top Student tutor us? Should we just ask?"

"Alright, sit down. I'm just going to get to that point." Sir Adren waved his hand, to which Guleno sat down, "Here in LeiSan, we have a unique system called the Agreement System. Issued by the school, there are two types of contracts which some of them, you can sign and agree on. I'll project them to you."

The monitor projected two types of contracts. The first was the Wager Contract, and the second, the Premium Wager Contract.

*See Auxilliary Chapter: LeiSan's Agreement System for more details*

After reading what the two contract does. The students soon learned one significant difference between the Top Students and them, the so-called Common Students. It's the privileges of the Wager Contracts.

The girl who always raises her hand did once again.

"So any Top Students can force an agreement?"

"I'd like to use the word 'mandate' more, but yes, that's basically it."

This aroused a shocked reaction from the class.

"Wait, isn't that scary? What if they forced us to sign something, and they have total confidence in winning?"

"Shouldn't the school forbid anything bad, though?"

"Yeah, I think so too. It's not like they can force an agreement where we become enslaved, right?" the students joked and laughed before Sir Adren loudly coughed again, silencing them.

With a classroom that has 126 students, it's easy to create noise.

"Do not worry. All of you would have a chance to fight back if you were to be a victim of the premium contract."

The girl raised her hand again and asked.

"What does that mean, Sir Adren? If a Top Student is great at basketball, for example, and challenged me, how will I be able to fight back?"

"Basketball?"

"Huh?"

"As expected, so that's why I didn't see any reactions in any of you when we went through the school's Mission and Visions. It didn't go through your head at all. But, it's not like you're to blame. It's normal for a school's Mission and Vision to be very boring to listen to."

Right after Sir Adren said those words, almost every student opened their handbooks and went back to the school's Mission and Vision.

"Our Mission is to empower students through the utilization of learning, interaction, independency, punishment, rewards, desperation…? and determination. In this mission, to educate students about the world is a top priority, readying them for our vision mentally." Natalie read and continued as the rest while Keith just listened to her.

"Our Vision details LeiSan High School leading the country's government and military might in the next ten years with empowered LeiSan alumni acting as leading characters."

After reading the two statements, all the students looked at Sir Adren again with solemn expressions, wanting him to explain again.

"There, you see that the focus is the military might. It might've been blurred when it's paired with the word 'government,' but here, in LeiSan, we do things more physical."

Sir Adren smiled while raising his fists…

"That was wild! So that's why this school is thought to be a den of delinquents. Fistfights are common here since the school promotes them. How about us, girls!? Huh!?"

Natalie raised her bag as an expression. She and Keith walked down the hallway as the morning class had just ended.

"I think girls have a chance too." Keith replied, knowing well the difference in strength between a man and a woman.

'Lutze told me to respect women since they are physically weaker in exchange for the ability to give birth.'

"How do you say so?"

Natalie curiously asked.

"It's because not all fights are fistfights."

"Eh? Really? I assumed it that way since how else can we fight?" Natalie tried kicking, startling other students walking down the hallway before looking at Keith and raising her shoulders with question marks popping out of her head.

"No, that's not what I meant. And in fistfights, it doesn't mean you just use your fists, right?"

"Yeah… I was just kidding around, hehe."

"Oh," Keith didn't know how to react to that, "Anyway,"

"Anyway!?"

"There are also knife fights and gunfights."

"Bwahahaha!" Natalie bursts out laughing, "The principal of this school must be crazy to permit knife fights, much fewer gunfights." she patted Keith as if telling him it's a good joke.

'Why is she laughing again?'

"So, where are you going to eat?" after the two of them got out of the hallway, Natalie asked while a little embarrassed, "Or, would you go home for lunch?"

Keith looked at the school gates and saw a car parked in front. It's his ride.

"I'm going home."

He didn't pick up the hint at all.

"A-ah, is that so… then, I'm going to eat outside since my home is far. Our one-and-a-half-hour lunch break will be used just for commuting." Natalie awkwardly laughed as she continued walking off again.

"Outside where?"

"I don't know. Maybe, a fast food restaurant? I can't eat here in the cafeteria since there're so many people again."

"Hm? But it doesn't seem that way." Keith pointed at the cafeteria and saw that it was not as bustling as this morning.

"Seriously?"

Natalie picked, and it was true. Meanwhile, there are other students in the Premium Cafeteria too.

Walking towards the Cafeteria, a guard asked, "A first-year?"

"Yeah?"

"You still don't have an I.D., so state your rank."

"Rank? 1424" Natalie replied, which led her access denied.

"Sorry, only Common Students ranking 251 to 500 can enter. You use the vending machines between the first and the second building." the guard said before looking at Keith. Knowing his rank is much lower than Natalie, Keith shook his head.

The two turned back while Natalie was in a slumped.

"If I had known ranks are so important, I shouldn't have answered randomly in that mock exam."

Keith was about to open his mouth when a shout could be heard in front of the Premium Cafeteria.

"PRESIDENT FLORA, CAN YOU PLEASE TUTOR ME!!??"

Almost everyone turned their head towards the source of this sound and Natalie found who it was.

"Guleno!?"
