BRIANNA'S P. O. V
My mum was quiet through out our drive home. I realised that she was not herself. We got home and she went upstairs to rest. I called Daniel and told him we were home. I prepared dinner with the help of the maids. I went upstairs to call her for dinner. I knocked and she responded. I entered and told her dinner was ready.
During dinner, she kept playing with her food. I couldn't take it anymore so I questioned her.
"Mum what is going on? Why are you so quiet" I asked
She silently stared at me
"Mum please tell me what is going through your mind" I said
"Anna I have been thinking about what happened today" she said
"Mum what is there to think about" I asked
"Anna I think you should listen to him" she said
"Huh" I shouted
"Let him explain himself" she said
"Mum this man abandoned us for so many years and now you are showing pity" I shouted
"No dear it's not pity. I just want you to give him a chance to explain" she said
I looked at her with an unbelievable look.
"Eunice is right. You should hear him out"
Mum and I turned around and it was Daniel. I got up and walked to him
"Daniel please don't tell me you agree with your woman" I said childishly
He smiled and nodded
"Brianna maybe we will be able to close this chapter after listening to him" he said
I looked at him and my mum back and forth.
"Alright I will talk to him next time I meet him"I said
"Good girl" Daniel said
Mum smiled
After dinner, I went to call Mr Craine. I told him everything and he also agreed that I should talk to him.
We continued with the wedding preparations.
Today I got up early because mum was going to pick her wedding dress and I had to attend lectures.
We got into the car and drove off.
"Ma'am the man is following us today too" my bodyguard said
"What" I shouted
"Relax dear. We will talk to him when we get to the bridal shop" mum said
Soon our car stopped in front of the most expensive and exquisite bridal shop in the city. We got out of the car. We saw my father coming closer to us.
"Hello" he greeted
I ignored him
"Hello Nicholas" Mum responded
"You ladies seem to be planning a wedding (mum nodded) who is getting married" he asked
I got angry with his question
"It's none of your business but I will tell you anyway. My mum is getting married" I said rudely
He took a step back
"Anna you shouldn't be rude" mum whispered
I frowned
He cleared his throat
"C-c-congratulation" he stammered
"Thank you" Mum replied
It was obvious he didn't like the news.
"Why are you stalking us" I asked
"Dear I want to talk to you" he said
I stood there silently for a while. I made a decision
"Alright I will give you five minutes. That's all I can do" I said
He nodded
I took my mum's hand
"Mum let's go" I said
"Dear I have nothing to do with this" Mum said
"But mum he owns both of us an explanation" I said
"No Anna. He only owns you an explanation. He is your father" mum said
"But mum you" I tried talking
"Anna"
She stopped me from talking
"Dear I only have a past with him. Though he abandoned me when I was pregnant, I got a blessing. A Miracle" she said with a smile
I nodded
"Go on dear. Talk to him I will wait for you inside" she said
I nodded
I looked around and saw a cafe.
"Mister, we can talk here" I said
"Alright dear" he said
We went to the cafe and sat on one of the empty tables.
"Mister you have five minutes and your time starts now" I said harshly
"Dear I'm very sorry for everything. I know you have been suffering a lot due to my actions" he said
I looked away trying to fight back my tears. I looked at him and all I felt was hatred. This man left my mother to suffer while I was inside her
"Dear I....
"Don't call me that I am Brianna" I snapped
"Sorry" he said
"Why did you leave? Why didn't you take responsibility for me? Was it because my mother was poor, an orphan or was it because you didn't love her" I asked
Tears started flowing from my eyes
"Dear I couldn't stay with your mother" he said
"Why" I asked
I dried up my tears
"I couldn't because I was engaged to another woman and I couldn't break up with her because I would have ruined my career" he said
"That's bullshit. You left my mother and I because of money" I snapped
"I'm sorry" he said
I looked at the time
"Your five minutes is over" I said
I got up and was about to leave when he called me
"Brianna I have been looking for you and your mother for years now" he said
I turned around and looked at him
"How did you find us" I asked
"A private investigator found you for me" he said
"Why were you looking for us after so many years" I asked
"I regreted my actions. I want rectify my mistakes" he said
Without saying a word, I left the cafe and returned to the bridal shop. Mum was waiting for me at the reception. I hugged her tightly
"Are you alright" she asked
I nodded with a fake smile.
"What did he say" she asked
"Let's talk about that later" I said
I didn't want to stress her
After waiting for a while, we finally finalized on the dress. We went home because mum was tired.
I called Daniel when I was alone and told him everything.
NICHOLAS'S P. O. V
Twenty seven years ago, I met a sweet little virgin who was naive about the world. I made her my sex toy but she got pregnant. I arrived at a restaurant for a meeting.
"You are late" my guest said
"Sorry man. I was putting our plans in to action" I said
I ordered a glass of whiskey after taking a seat next to him.
"Did that slut buy your story" he said with a smile
"Let's hope so. She seemed emotional" I said
"Play your part well because your daughter is the only way to Michael Anthony Craine" he said
"Don't worry I think Eunice is still naive. I heard she is getting married. This means only her daughter can be used as a pawn" I said
"You are right. We need to be careful though. Michael is surrounded with intelligent people. They shouldn't find out about our plans" he said
I nodded.
After a while, we left the restaurant. I headed home to start our other plans.
DANIEL'S P.O.V
When Brianna told me everything that happened. I realised that her father wasn't being truthful so I sent some people to follow him secretly.
I got an information stating that he usually met up with a man. I instructions them to gather more information.
Today, they finally brought me the information. The information I had was hard to believe. I went to my boss to let him know about my findings.
"Hey man" I said after entering his office
"Hello" he responded
I took my seat. I narrated everything Brianna told me to him and what I did.
"So what were your findings" he asked
"Pull yourself together man. This will shock you" I said
"At this point of my life, nothing shocks me anymore" he said
I gave him the file containing the information
"Read it yourself" I said
He opened it and after a while his eyes widened
"What" he shouted
"Yep" I said
He looked at my face
"Michael we need to be careful. They are up to no good" I said
"Let's find a to know about their plans then after that we will know what to do. For now keep an eye on both of them" he said
I nodded
"Should I inform Brianna and Eunice"I asked
"Not yet. Let's not worry them" he said
I nodded
I left him to continue working.
