There was also water,coffee,tea and soda available on a nearby table. Another table set beside the drink table with all different kinds of snacks on it. All this was set up by my pack members, for my family and Skyler's to set and enjoy the parade. The parade, and the feast afterwards, is a celebration to welcome me and Skyler as their new leaders.
However I'm almost certain my mom and perhaps Skyler's mom had a hand in planning at least this part. The reason I suspect this is because the table was set up to accommodate eighteen people.
When setting arrangements were originally discussed in the council meeting. Skyler and I were supposed to set in the middle of the table. With my dad on my right side and my mom next to him. Then my grandparents and great grandparents with Julie and Aaron setting in the last two chairs on the right.
Skyler's dad was supposed to set on his left with his mom beside him. Then his grandparents and great grandparent. With his sister occupying the last chair on the left side of the table, making the total number of chairs seventeen.
I sauntered on over to the table and pulled out the chair beside Skyler for Andie. I took the chair on her right,placing Andie between Skyler and me. Seeing all the curious gazes directed at Andie and me, I decided it was time to let everyone know who the beautiful girl beside me is.

"Ah-wooooooo" another massive howl echoed through the town rattling the store front windows again.
" Oh my gosh!" Andie exclamed, trying to hide her beautiful face into my chest again.
" Hey, raise your head little mouse, the parade is going to start." I teased gently, nudging her head up, pointing down at the end of the street. Where I could see the people who will be walking in the parade ,getting lined up to start coming this way .
When the music started playing Andie twirled her head around in the direction of the sound. I twisted in my seat to face that direction too. I leaned over her shoulder so that I could tell her who everyone was that was participating in the parade.
"That's our high school band in the front," I murmured in her ear, pulling her backwards to comfortably learn on my chest, as I pointed down the street from over her shoulder. "You will see them again in October at the harvest festival. We will have another parade then, and some of the band members will compete in the talent contest also."
"Talent contest, at the harvest festival?"My girl ask inquisitively.
"Yeah, Look sweetheart all those people behind the baton twirlers are last year's winners of all the different competitions that take place during our harvest festival.See their big gold ribbons." I pointed out." see that man in the middle with red hair. That's Mr. Wheeler he wins the wine making competition every year. This wine on the table was made by him." I stated, holding my glass up and taking a little sip.
"Humm, it's delicious do you want to try a little sip." My girl bobbed her cute little head, then looked left and right acting like she was trying be sneaky.
I chuckled, holding the glass up to her lips. "Go on little mouse take a sip. You belong to me now,nobody can scold you."
Gingerly she took the tiniest sip I think I ever seen anyone take ,closed her eyes and shuttered with her lips pressed tightly together.
" Didn't you like it sweetheart?" I really didn't need to ask, I could tell with out a doubt, dry wine really it's her thing. I guess we will need to test different wines and champagnes to toast our wedding. Fortunately for me we have plenty of time to do it.
" No, it taste yuck" She shuttered again, her little shoulders shaking like she caught a chill. ."Can I have one of those sodas over there?" She whispered,pointing over to the table with all the nonalcoholic drinks on it.
" Sure babe, would you like me to get it for you."
" Yes please ,and hurry, I can see the floats coming " she said excitedly, pointing her little polished finger down the street. She then leaned forward to take her weight off my chest, so that I could move freely. " Now come right back, I need you to tell me who made the floats." She ordered. My little mate sure is a bossy little thing .
Doing exactly as I was told I Scurried on over to the table,grabbed my girl a soda and quickly filled a plate with some cheese and crackers. I returned back to the table and set down sideways in the chair facing the direction the parade was coming from. I pulled Andie back to lean comfortably on my chest, exactly the way we were previously. And as requested, I set down right on time for the first float to come into view.
I pointed down the street and dipped my head low to whispered into her ear " They're starting with the floats the Cubs made first. The floats will get more elaborate as the parade goes on." I explained before giving Andie a brief summary about who made the float " That's Mrs. Hanson in the middle of the float she owns Noah's Ark day care. The Cubs really don't know how to decorate a float yet . But Mr. Hanson, the man driving the tractor has that old flatbed trailer . And as you can see, they just throw hay bails on it and let the Cubs throw candy out into the crowd. The Cubs love it and it makes them feel important. Mrs. Hanson said they talk about being in the parade for weeks. So everyone one is delighted to see the Cubs join in and as a bonus they all get free candy."
" That's awesome, I'm glad to see the little ones participate in the parade . It will help instill pride in their pack and boost their confidence. I wouldn't be surprised to see everyone one of them to become great community leaders."My girl beamed up at me from over her shoulder.
" I never thought of it that way, but what you're saying makes a lot sense."
" Oh! Look at that one."Andie squealed, stretching her neck to look further down the street.
" Which one sweetheart?" I ask, curious to know what got my girl so excited.
" The one with the cannon on it, shooting the confetti."she pointed out.
" That one was made by Mrs. Barns fifth grade class, they raised money this year by selling raffle tickets on a snowmobile for their class field trip to Washington DC. They got to visit the National Archives Museum and several other places." I murmured, hugging her closer to me when the explosion from the cannon made her jump and cover her ears.
" That's loud." She complained,then added "But that dose sound like a wonderful field trip."
" We try to make sure every cub in the pack has the opportunity to explore other places before becoming an adult. School field trips are a perfect option, we start them as early as kindergarten. But instead of taking our kindergarten class to the zoo, like they do in human school. They usually go to the aquarium or the Anchorage kids museum. Every class has a fundraiser every year, to earn money to pay for hotels and food so it never cost the parents anything to send them. The parents can also go if they want to as a chaperone. But it's not necessary to do so, if they can't get the day off from work. We always have a string of volunteers who are willing to tag along and watch over the Cubs. Most of them are older people, who have a lot of experience watching little ones,they enjoy the field trips just as much as the Cubs." I explained, just to give Andie a bit of information about our school activities.
" Oh, bye the way sweetheart, as my Luna you will be head of the school board.So you can make any suggestions you would like for any other activities ,that you think would benefit our Cubs."
" Really?" Andie quirked a brow..Making me wonder what she was thinking . Perhaps no school on Friday's or maybe just letting school out early everyday. Those are things I might have done, if I had the power to do so at fourteen years old.
" What do you have in mind sweetheart?" I had to ask.
" I don't really know, but I'd like to take a tour of the whole school to see what it already has to offer. Perhaps we could add some college level classes that actually count as college credits to give our students an advantage when entering a university. It would also help the parents who are struggling with financial difficulties. Some of our students might not be able to score high enough on the ACT exams to procure a scholarship. And without one, their hopes of going to college could be smashed like a bug on a windshield of a speeding car." My girl sighed and pouted her cute little lips.
I blinked several times processing what she just said. It definitely wasn't what I had expected from a fourteen year old. My girl is intelligent and way more mature than anyone her age I've ever met. And what surprised me the most was that she had started already addressing the members of the Starlight Pack as her own.
" That's a good idea sweetheart, I took college classes on line when I was in high school. Actually I'm still finishing my degree online now, but it cost money to do that. And if there's a way to offer college classes to our students for free you're right it would help lessen their families burdens. Making us stronger as a pack, after all intelligence in the modern world is power."I beamed, placing a pecking kiss on my smart little mouse's forehead.
