The door we had stepped out of was on the back side of the pack house with nobody around. After taking a couple of steps away from the door Zack let go of my hand.
He took a step back and started giving me a pep talk " Alright babe follow your nose and don't worry about anything else except the scent of that drug. Just go with baby, if you need to shift do it. I'll be right beside you."
Closing my eyes I took a deep breath to fill my nostrils with the scents around me. I could clearly pick up the scent of the propofol but the human scent was so faint it was difficult to detect.
Deciding to only concentrate on the scent of the propofol I did as Zack said. Blocking all other scents around me I payed absolutely no head to where I was walking. After a few seconds I relaxed letting the scent of the propofol take me to wherever it lingered.
Before I knew it Zack and I were standing behind a bush on the other side of the pack house. I paused there for a moment taking a couple of deep breaths taking in only the scent of the propofol.
I could see Zack from the corner of my eye silently standing beside me curiously watching my every move.
Abruptly as if possessed I turned on my heels and hightailed it into the woods stripping my clothes off as I walked.
A few steps into the forest I shifted mid step, a low rumbling growl ripped from my throat and Roxy's paws hit the forest floor in a full out run.
I briefly heard the sound of clothes ripping behind us and tried to turn Roxy's head in the direction of the sound with no success.At that moment I realized Roxy had took over completely.
She dug her paws deeper into the soft earth flying through the forest at a speed we had never gone before. She gracefully dodged limbs and shrubs jumping over logs like the devil was chasing her.
Then I heard her old grumpy voice in my head 'Girl don't worry about Apollo he can keep up. Just concentrate on the scent of that drug and let me get us there. We don't have time to waste thoes bastards have that baby.'
After running full bore for awhile Roxy slide to a halt making dirt and leaves fly up from the forest floor and surround us. Roxy snorted the dust from her nose and that's when I realized the scent trail had gone cold because of the stream in front of us.
It took me a few seconds before I could pick up faint traces of the porpofol in the wind. But before I was certain of the direction it was coming from Roxy's impatient voice boomed in my head. ' Hurry up girl, which way do we need to go we don't have all day.'
' Go straight across' I guessed, I could detect the scent coming from the wind that was pushing Roxy's fur back in her face.
With one powerful leap Roxy jumped halfway across the stream landing gracefully in the water. I heard a loud splash behind us but didn't bother trying to make Roxy turn her big head in that direction.
I just assumed it was Zack's wolf and I was right because he passed us in the water and climbed the rock bank on the other side and set down on his hunches before Roxy could get out of the stream.
On the other side of the stream I took another deep breath sniffing the air and picked up the scent of propofol on a clear trail to the right.
Roxy climbed the rock bank and took off again in a dead out run straight down the trail I had detected the scent of propofol from. After a few minutes we cut to the left and climbed the side of a step hill before entering a big cave.
That's when Zack's wolf took the lead. He crept silently through the narrow passageway staying close to the wall of the cave. Roxy brought up the rear mimicking his silent actions stealthy navigating the dark cave.
Suddenly Zack's wolf stopped and Roxy did too that's when I heard it .The chatter of voices bouncing off the walls of the cave. Zack's wolf dipped his head low and laid a shiny object on ground he had been holding in his mouth.Zack then shifted back to his human form.
I shifted back as well and that's when I realized the shiny object that Zack's wolf had in his mouth was a pistol like humans use.
My eyes widened to the point of hurting and Zack placed his finger up to his lips in a shushing motion reminding me not to make a sound.
Zack bent down and picked up the pistol then stepped closer to me whispering in my ear "Stay behind me and don't make a sound."
Slowly we crept closer to the sound of the voices staying in the shadows until we came to a huge rock ledge that hung low across the passageway.
Zack laid the pistol on top of the ledge and pulled himself up on top of the rock ledge extending his arm down for me to grab.
I grabbed his forearm holding on tight and he wrapped his long fingers around my forearm. With one swift tug Zack pulled me up on the ledge beside him.
Zack grabbed the gun again and we silently crawled on our bellies in the tight space between the rock ledge and the roof of the cave.
We steadily crawled up the step incline going higher into the top of the cave until we came to a small opening.
Zack peeped through accessing the situation reporting back to me what he could see.
" There's four guys down there and a motionless child. I can't tell if they are all humans or if they're a mix of humans and werewolves."
He paused for a moment and I could tell he was thinking about the situation and how to handle it. I patiently waited without interrupting his thoughts and after a few seconds he continued "With you here I'm not taking any chances of them getting their filthy hands on you. I want you to cover your ears I'm going to snipe them." Zack whispered in my ear
For a moment I didn't quite understand what Zack said then it clicked my eyes almost popped out of their sockets and my hand voluntarily flew up to cover my mouth.
Zack stroked my hair and whispered in my ear " shush,babe I need to get this over with quickly . Remember they have a small child down there that I pray is still alive. We can't give them anymore leverage to use against me. Now do as I say and cover your ears."
Pulling my hands up to cover my ears I squeezed my eyes tightly shut for what seemed like forever until I heard.
BANG,BANG ,BANG ,BANG after four extremely loud BANGS Zack started moving quickly scrambling to go back down the ledge we climbed up with me hot on his tail.
The hard surface of the rock ledge scratching my knees, chest and belly on the way down but I hardly noticed because of the adrenaline that was coursing through my body.
Zack jumped down from the ledge and turned to face me "Stay up there and scoot back into the shadows I'll go extract Young Alpha Chase."
" No, please don't leave me" I cried out in panic just at the thought of Zack leaving me alone in this cold dark cave even for a moment.
Zack shook his head " Come here" he murmured extending his arms up for me to come down from the ledge. I didn't waste a second before crawling closer to the edge so that he could help me down to the ground. I slide down his chest until my feet hit the ground.
Zack immediately pushed me back as he held onto my shoulders and looked me in the eyes " Babe are you sure that you want to come with me. It's not a pretty sight inside that cavern there's four dead guys inside and lots of blood splattered everywhere."
"Yes , just please don't leave me." I begged shamelessly.

Zack
In my description to get us out of this cave and cover our naked bodies with clothes again I agreed " Okay babe come on let's go check on Young Alpha Chase.
Ducking under the rock ledge we just climbed down from we snaked through a narrow passageway and finally came to the large open area of the cave.
Four men laid dead on the ground with silver bullets in their head. Each one of them human and armed with weapons of their own. It's not in our nature to use human weapons but when dealing with humans sometimes it the only way.
Surprising me my baby girl didn't even flinch at the sight of the bloody mess. Without releasing my hand she made quick steps straight over to the motionless child on the cold hard ground. Kneeling beside him she laid her head on his chest and smiled up at me.
" He's just unconscious let's get him to the pack hospital." She cried out in relief
I stooped down and gathered his small body in my arms and headed for the entrance of the cave weaving back through the narrow passageway as quickly as I could while notifying my Beta through the mind link.
'Skyler call off the serch notify my dad that we found Young Alpha chase and tell him to have an ambulance meet us out on West Lake Road up by the old tavern.'
' I'm on it' he responded right away. Skyler is going to make an excellent Beta he never grumbles or questions anything I tell him to do.
With Skyler notifying everyone I can concentrate on navigating through the woods because we can't shift and carry an unconscious child.
Unfortunately for us the closest way to reaching the old tavern is straight across a tick patch of woods with heavy under brush and no trails. Luckily before we cut off the main trail I spotted a barrel with clothes in it.
We grabbed a couple of sweat suits and threw them on real quick before heading straight into the thickest part of the forest where the walking got tough.
My baby girl didn't hesitate one bit she navigated the heavy underbrush like a seasoned warrior keeping pace with my every step until we finally reached our destination.
When we stepped out of the forest I could see the ambulance waiting for us in the gravel parking lot with the stretcher all ready unloaded.
I quickened my steps meeting a paramedic at the edge of the lawn. However I refused to hand Chase over to him.
I carried Chase straight to the stretcher and laid his tiny little body down issuing an order to the paramedics. " Take us to the pack hospital my dad and this child's parents are already waiting for us."
Without out a word from the paramedics the stretcher was loaded into the ambulance. Andie and I climbed inside the ambulance taking a seat on a long bench along the wall right beside side the paramedic that got right down to business checking all of Chase's vitals.
The ambulance driver took off speeding down the winding mountain road and in no time we were in front of the pack hospital.
My father and Chase's parents stood at the emergency room door waiting for the stretcher to be unloaded I could see my father leaning over and say something to the couple before they they disappeared inside the hospital with the paramedics. Leaving my father at the entrance waiting for me and Andie.
Grabbing Andie's hand we made our way over to where my dad was waiting for us. I'm sure he's wanting a full report of what happened.
