"Well… they followed me at the Bai Hotel and… and they saw us together." He answered, eyes were serious. I frowned again. Then I remembered, I don't know this guy anymore. I have completely no idea about his life and what he does.
"Who are you?" I asked blankly at him. He jolted a little after hearing my question. His eyes change as it goes empty, no emotions and his smile faded.
"So much has changed from that long ten years, Faith." He replied not answering the question that I asked. He then stood up and made his way to the window to peek outside. "You would be shocked at what I've become."
Strangely, I strongly agreed to his statement. I only knew his name. I can't help myself to feel afraid, thinking of the possibilities that might not be appealing to hear.
"I want to know who you are. Before I accept your offer." I said in a serious voice without taking my eyes towards him.
Silence covered the whole room as we both stared into each other without blinking. He must've been thinking of how he will tell me.
"You will find out soon but for now one thing is for sure the Mafias are after me. And I want you to trust me." He said breaking the silence.
How am I supposed to trust someone that the only thing I knew about was his name? How am I supposed to trust someone who's the reason why my life was at risk? How am I supposed to trust the guy who once ruined me?
I let out a deep sigh. So what if I cannot trust him, do I have a choice? No, I don't think so! If I decline his offer… the Mafias will come after me, my fighting skills aren't enough and I don't have anywhere to hide as I don't want Mika to get involved in this mess either.
"You must tell me now. My life is at stake. I should atleast have the knowledge as to what danger I might encounter to the process." I said letting out a sigh.
"And… you should tell me the things that I needed to do as your assistant… only if you convince me." I added, surrendering and might just go with the flow.
"Are you scared?" He asked and smirked at me. "You don't have to do anything… you'll just have to be by my side. We will hunt for treasure." He added excitedly.
"You talked about the Mafia a while ago… now a treasure? Are you fucking kidding me right now?" I exclaimed that I am now 100 percent confused.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I stared intently at her confused face as I was trying to analyze if I should tell her about me being the Mafia Lord. I don't know how she would react or how she would see me after knowing that fact.
I don't want her to be involved in this mess but I also do not want her to get killed by the other Mafias who were after me and the Heart of Cleopatra.
"I am a Mafia." There I finally said to her sternly. My breathing stopped as I waited for her reaction.
"A what!?" She blurted out as she glared at me unbelievably.
"I am the Mafia Lord." I said again emphasizing each word. Her expression changed as soon as she was able to comprehend. She sits up straight and her breathing was ragged.
"That guy who kidnapped you… is also a Mafia leader. They are supposed to be after me but they saw you with me so he must've thought we are that kind of close. I'm hundred percent sure, every mafia member has received the news about you and that Marco is dead." I explained.
I noticed her expression became interested in every word I'd say.
"Why are they after you? Are you that big of a fish?" She asked seriously without breaking eye contact.
When I left Manila ten years ago, our family went to Italy and later I found out that my father is the Mafia leader. Being a Mafia was passed down by our bloodlines, from generation to generation. And when my father died, I found out that there is a treasure, the Heart of Cleopatra which every Mafia who gets the holds of it will have the most power in Italy.
I happened to know about it and hide it somewhere that only me and my father knew. A lot of Mafia leaders tried their best to bring me down as it is the only way they'd be able to get hold of the treasure but they all failed.
There is one rule that every Mafia member should follow. It is when a Mafia leader was killed by another Mafia leader, the members of the Mafia leader who was killed will pledge their loyalty to the winning leader and the level of respect will also increase, everyone would kneel down for you.
Even if you reach the highest level of Mafias, there will always be someone who doesn't care about the rules and will be against you. Those people who love power will always want something more than they can't even give.
"Be my Assistant and you will know everything sooner or later." I replied as I winked at her. She rolled her eyes over me and turned her gaze away.
"Fine!" Finally she gave in. She stood up and turned around ready to leave the room, I suddenly spoke.
"Where do you think you're going? We are not done yet." I uttered as she stopped from taking a step.
"I already agreed. Now, I want to leave this house and go home." She answered in a tired voice.
"I require my assistant to live with me and serve me." I ordered.
"I am not your fucking nanny!" She turned around to face me and yelled those statements.
"You will stay in this house… for your safety. Period." I said in a stern voice. I noticed her stun in disbelief.
She must've realized the danger so she let out a surrendering sigh as she spoke, "Whatever! I'll just go get my things and I'll be right back."
"I'll let Oliver come with you." I offered to make sure she's safe wherever she goes.
"You don't have to. I don't want to be a nuisance to anyone." She declined, clearly she doesn't have any idea what might be waiting for her in her apartment.
"I insist. Or do you want me to come with you instead?" I teased.
"Fine! Just...just your men. Let one of your men come with me." She inhaled deeply as she gave up. I smirked victoriously.
I took my phone from my pocket and called Oliver and instructed him on what he needs to do which he gladly agreed to. I then told her that she can now go home and get ALL her things and that Oliver is already waiting for her outside the house.
She then quickly went out of my office as I stared into her back. I smiled in contentment. This is going to be fun, I thought to myself. I couldn't hide my excitement, thankfully I'm the only one here.
I stared into her from my window while she walked her way to the car that was waiting for her. She turned her head up to my direction for a second as I saw her unpleasantly looking at me from the above.
She has always been this hard headed and short tempered ever since when we were still young but she is now twice as hard headed and short tempered as before. I wondered what happened to her that made her this way. Well, I admit… I might also be one of the reasons why she became like this. If only she knew why I left her without a word, if only she knew how much I love her before and if only I had a choice ten years ago. I would never ever leave her.
I let out a deep sigh as the car is slowly disappearing. I went back to my desk and called my secretary.
"Yes, Mr. Alfonzo?" Sofia answered as soon as the phone started ringing.
"Any news about Paolo?" I asked. Paolo is the sales executive in my company, he was assigned to our main branch in Italy, the Casa Vino. The Casa Vino is the supplier of all wines in every big place and restaurants in Italy as we export wines from there to here in the Philippines.
Paolo is currently on the run. My men in Italy have reported about what he did to my company. That asshole manages to steal money from the company while I'm not around. I have a strong feeling that he is not working by himself, I know he has someone with him, his accomplices backing him up. Which I am now investigating, I need to find out and teach these bastards who dared to go against me.
