Chereads / I Became The Mafia Lord's Assistant / Chapter 25 - Vainglorious

Chapter 25 - Vainglorious

I didn't know it had this sharp and pointy blade... Its shaft is gold in color with a black engraving that seemed to be in an Italian language and the blade was shining and had silvery edges.

I have done my research about this one before, Cinquedea... It was said that this dagger was first developed here in Italy.

There is something about knives that will always hold a place in my heart.

I felt a strong presence by the corner of the room as I was indulgent into the knives, hooked up to its shining blades.

"I see that something has caught Rayzel Faith Fuentes' interest other than me, hmmm…" I jumped slightly from where I was standing when suddenly, I heard a familiar deep male voice at the back of my ears acting as if he was hurt.

Every hair in my body rose up instantly as the warmth of his breath touched the very sensitive part of my ear.

"Y-you...s-startled me!" I turned my gaze to him which I soon regretted...I completely forgot that his face was near mine so when I turned my head… Our faces had become closer and in an instance my lips touched his, unintentionally.

I felt the corner of his lips twitching up towards my lips and I could feel my blood rushing all over my face as soon as I realized the situation, embarrassment filled me and my face became as red as tomatoes.

I immediately moved my head backwards to avoid it from touching him any longer.

He chuckled loudly as he said, "Haha...Let's eat and will start preparing for later." He said with eyes still fixed at mine...with an amused face.

"Right…" I replied without looking and started walking with my head down...I could still feel my face still blushing.

"Do you want to use one for later?" He asked behind me.

I jolted and turned around and walked towards him deliberately and stared at him with puppy eyes, "Of course! Can I? Please... Please." I pleaded like a baby and forgot that I have my own reputation to protect. Tsk!

I was smiling excitedly from ear to ear as I looked at him straight from the eyes, my hands were already at the top of the glass rack touching it softly

He just stared at me vaguely, his eyes were shifting from my eyes down to my lips.

To Scott's point of view, Rayzel's cute reaction has caused him his arousal… By the mere pleading look of her, he couldn't help but be amazed by her... everything about her.

"Do you know how to properly use these things? You know knives are too dangerous, right?" Clearly, he was hesitant.

'Just how many things can she do? At some point, he would think that she wouldn't need his protection...she can handle herself well, she is capable enough in protecting herself', Scott thought over his head.

"You think I'm a baby?" I frowned. "Well, I can be more precise with my target using knives rather than guns, you know...And would be happy to give you a sample." I proudly said and then smirked at him.

"Woah! Woah! Vainglorious woman! I like it!" He chuckled and then winked at me. "No need to prove it to me, I can already picture you out in my imagination slashing the throat of Don Philippe... seductively... sexually arousing me and--" His both arms were position in the air as if he was hugging something while eyes were shut as he said each word.

He wasn't able to finish his dreamy sentence as I cut him off, "Dream on, man!" I exclaimed.

"Hahaha! Alright, take two daggers of your liking." He laughed while pressing something at the bottom part of the rack.

*Click*

As soon as the clicking sound was heard, I took a step backwards as my eyes opened wider and my mouth dropped open with amazement…

The thick glass covers of the glass racks moved on their own and the top cover folded swiftly first and was followed by each side slowly leaving the knives and daggers completely exposed and tangible.

Scott was just standing at my side as I watched this unbelievably magnificent sight amusingly. "WOW!" The only word that came out of my mouth.

"Now choose, Faith. Hurry...we don't have much time to prepare ourselves for tonight." He demanded.

"Just two? They are too many and too beautiful to choose from." I replied, my eyes were eyeing each of the daggers one by one, still unable to choose.

He let out a deep sigh, "Three? That would be enough, right? Besides, we will only use it for tonight."

"Yay!" I clapped in excitement as I started to examine each dagger. "But why do you have all these, Scott? Are you also fond of knives?" I asked him out of nowhere.

"Hmmm...I love the smell of guns and bullets more than the smell of knives, Faith. These are my father's… he loved collecting weapons when he was still alive." His voice suddenly cracked.

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that." I replied, my eyes have traveled upwards as I wanted to see his reaction but all I could see was emptiness...and rage.

I didn't ask any more questions as I can sense that he doesn't want to talk about it much longer. So I decided to focus on choosing the best blade for me.

Then my gut led me to my first weapon of choice, the kindjals. It is a slightly curved double-edged short sword... Its blade length is 42-55 cm.

I wouldn't use it tonight as it would be hard for me to hide it through a lustrous gown but I knew I would need these two later… if time would let me tho.

My eyes then narrowed to the all black butterfly knife at the side of the rack where short knives and pocket knives were put together.

I took the butterfly knife and flipped it open and pointed the blade into his direction. Which caused him to jolt for a second and was able to recover after a few seconds.

As cockiness won over me, I thought of showing off some flipping tricks in front of Scott.

I then closed the butterfly knife and held the knife directly out in front of my pointing forward and flick my wrist in a back motion.

The knife sprung open and the handle of the dangerous side almost hit between my thumb and my forefinger but I was quick and was able to keep my hand where it was.

Then I flipped the knife back forward, my wrist was flicked downward so that the knife would close again and opened my thumb as I flipped the knife up again and closed quickly.

I then placed the butterfly knife, lengthwise, along the second joint of my fingers and quickly curled my hand in, placing my thumb just under the catch. I then snappily flick the knife upward with my thumb against the catch to open it.

I made sure that my grip isn't too strong but a firm one as it will be easier for the knife to fly out of my hand while flipping it quickly.

I was flipping the knife back and forth as fast as I could while my eyes were fixed at Scott, waiting for his reaction.

I could see his amazed face as he stared into my fast moving hands. "You really are something, Faith."

Then I stopped when I felt content with my own performance and seeing his disbelief reaction mixed with amusement.

Now, I was ready to choose my third weapon. I wanted to take the Cinquedea as I was eyeing this one beforehand.

I intentionally made it my last for I was sure that I would choose it but my eyes caught something more interesting and might be more useful for tonight's mission.

The interesting thing looks like a ring...a silvery ring. "What is this? How does this work?" I asked confusedly as I pointed at it and glanced into Scott.

The ring just looks normal to my eyes, it is silver and has a white stone. Even if it looked normal, I knew for a fact that it is put here together with this blade and has something to do with it... might also have a blade in it somewhere, right?

"It is called a defender ring, mainly use for self defense." He answered as he moved closer and took the ring. "Just roll the stone sideways to open and…" He added as he did what he said and viola!

A sharp edge blade emerges from where the stone was once placed.

"This thing is amazing! I want this instead...I can use this without creating any problem." I exclaimed excitedly as I took the ring when he handed it to me.

"Great! I was hoping you'd choose this one too." He replied. "Now let's go and have dinner first." He clicked his two fingers and started his pace.
