"That doesn't seem like any of your business now does it? Mr. Moretti" Charity said plainly, pushing back a strand of fiery red with a flick of her head. Absalom's face suddenly fell into such a serious look she felt the urge to step back. There was a tick in his jaw and even through his beard though sparse she saw it, was he annoyed?
"Are you going to stop calling me Mr.Moretti by yourself or should I make you?" He said and her eyes narrowed.
"Make me? You know what it doesn't even matter because I have paid you your debt and whatever was keeping me tied to you is over. Thank you for your generosity, really I am grateful-"
"If you were grateful you wouldn't be tossing me aside like a used tissue after you've gotten what you wanted." He replied immediately and she scoffed,
"Hey, you were the one that offered to pay my debt, I clearly told you I didn't want you to but you insisted. Acting all cool saying a date was all it took to pay me back. You know come to think of it I should blame you for the trauma I had to go through last night. If you hadn't forced me into going to that party with you I wouldn't have had to see the man that ruined my life hold a gun to my head as if all he already did was not enough." She said all in one breath.
"Are you rapping? I cannot believe you are blaming me for your psycho ex. How is it my fault that you dated a terrorist? I mean you were crying about how bad you felt and how you loved him when he is a terrorist." Absalom retorted.
Charity's eyes widened at his statement, "low blow."
"You started it, I already feel bad about what happened to you did you really have to say that?" He asked and she sighed.
"Look, I am sorry that I seem this way, but as much as you helped me and as much as I would have loved to show you how grateful I am I have no choice but to get as far away from you as soon as possible."
"Why? Look I get that last night was a total bust but if you give me another chance-"
"There are no second chances with me and you've used up your chance already."
It was Absalom's turn to scoff, "you like me to."
"What?"
"I am not the only person attracted to the other here, I know you like me too."
"By heavens what could have given you that impression? I know I have not been subtle with my desire to be anywhere but around you," Charity responded, tilting her head to hear his reason.
"Why? Why are you being like that?"
"Because you sir are bad for me." She said, plainly just like that, she said it.
Confusion, shock a little annoyance, and lots of frustration, Absalom felt it all at that moment. She didn't even know him, how could she just decide right off the bat that he was bad for her? "What makes you say that?"
Suddenly she was speechless, she opened her mouth but words failed her. Absalom noticed her face turning red and when she noticed that he noticed her blushing she looked away. Stepping forward in that moment he grabbed her shoulders and forced her to look at him, leaning in he spoke, "what the hell could be so bad that you just decide that? Why do you judge a man without knowing him? For people who have been commanded not to judge you Christians are truly judgemental people."
"That's not it, it is because of my faith I am doing this."
"What does that even mean?" He frowned.
Charity pried herself away from his hold and stepped back again to avoid him, "this, the way you touch me. How open and intentional you are about your desire for me, it's not right?"
His right brow rose, "not right?"
"I'm just saying I can't be the woman you want or need for that matter because-"
"You can't sleep with me?" He finished by himself, "don't tell me you believe in sex till marriage?"
She said nothing, only giving him a pointed look and he laughed. "What is so funny?"
"Are you a virgin?"
Yet again he made her avoid his eyes and turn red. "No your not, well someone has been very naughty, I don't get it. You clearly didn't believe in it before so why now? Why now?"
"Well, I didn't believe it before, and look what happened? I was robbed by the person I trusted the most and now I have it on record that I slept with a terrorist."
"On record? Do you think he broke your heart because you had sex with him?"
"It doesn't matter, all that matters is that I have repented and it is never happening again. I trust you will keep your word Mr. Moretti and leave me alone from now on."
"No" he said.
"No?"
"No. I can simply not leave you alone."
