ONE MONTH AGO
Charis smiled at her only loyal friend, Cassandra. She was the only one that had not abandoned her to go dancing and that was even because she was still sad from earlier. Appointed designated driver all she could be sit and watch Cassandras try to drown her sorrows with alcohol. And think dirty thoughts about the man she bumped into in front of the bathroom. He wore a suit to a bar, he must be a big shot she thought. Or a frustrated office worker, if that was it she could definitely relate.
"Em? We didn't order those" Cassandra stated pointing at the two glasses of drinks that were placed on the counter before them.
"I know, those gentlemen over there did." The bartender stated jutting his chin in the direction behind them, both women turned simultaneously, and like a movie Charis locked gazes with the attractive man from earlier. It seemed cheesy and unrealistic but she could swear time froze at that moment and a wave of desire stronger than anything she had ever felt before rippled through her already sensitive skin, pooling in her lower belly. At first, she felt dizzy, clutching her knees to keep upright she broke the spell by shutting her eyes and facing forward. This man whoever he was, he was dangerous for her, she knew that at that instant. Sure she was always extra sensitive during these times and her imaginations worked double time but this was the first time she felt the urge to be with a particular person. She knew that her fantasies had just been given a face.
"What are you thinking?" Cassandra said bringing her back to the physical world "we have to go over."
Charis' eyes widened in panic, "no we don't! We don't need to go over there, please let's not go over there em?" She begged to grab Cassandra's arm.
Yanking her arm away she straightened her dress and glared at her friend "are you seriously telling me not to go over to the hot guys that bought us drinks? After I was dumped?"
"Cassie-"
"No, no we are heading over there, I mean look at that guy. He looks unreal and he won't stop staring at you and you're refusing exactly how high is your standard? Or are you just being coy?" She asked since it didn't make sense that a guy like that would show interest and she wouldn't be willing. Literally, every other lady had their eye on him, he looked that good. "You do realize that he could be dating supermodels and actresses but he is interested in you right?" Grabbing her friend's arm she pulled her out of her seat and towards the waiting men.
Charis, still struggling to argue her case and Cassandra nullifies all her excuses with the promise of not letting her pass up such an opportunity. In the midst of all her subtle reluctance and struggling the tip of her shoes hit the edge of a table and she fell forward right into his arms.
It was an unexpected but pleasurable mistake, watching her fall right in his lap. Sebastian already knew she was much smaller in comparison to him but his hands around her waist only solidified the fact. The tip of his middle fingers that wrapped around her back almost met with how small her waist was yet she didn't feel bony as she sat on his lap. Quite the contrary, she was soft and tense sitting in his lap. For the third time that night, they locked gazes and this time more intense due to the proximity. She had beautiful big brown doe eyes on a small face with plump glossy pink lips and my goodness was her lashes thick and long. Giving her the appearance of some magical fairy. Then as if it wasn't enough that she was sitting in his lap her gaze left his dark eyes and down his thin lips, and back to his eyes again. She licked her lips and on reflex, his body reacted. He cursed himself mentally as she scrambled off his body with wide eyes, she definitely felt that. Sebastian thought, oh well it was sooner or later and he understands her start but what was with her terrified expression?
Charis cleared her throat as she stood by Cassandra's side, the farthest from Sebastian, "I'm sorry about that." She apologized honestly causing him to smile.
"It was an accident don't worry about it" he replied.
"Great! Now that that is settled thanks a lot for the drinks guys" Cassandra said casually smiling at the guy beside Sebastian, his friend Timothy.
"I'm Timothy, this is Sebastian what are your names?" Timothy asked.
"I'm Cassandra but you can call me Cassie and this is Charis" Her friend replied.
"Charis? Like the Greek goddess?" Sebastian asked out of curiosity but Charis shook her head.
"No, Charis like in the bible, it means grace, kindness, and life." She blurted out immediately regretting her decision she sighed out loud. "And I don't know why I just told you that."
"No, I liked it, the name suits you."
