"I would rather call you sir, it just sounds and feels wrong to refer to you any other way," she said as shameful memories of that night filled evaded her thoughts...
"Fine, fair enough." Sebastian said standing up straighter, he looked at the designer watch resting on his wrist and back at her, "it's really late, shouldn't you be on your way home?"
Charis looked back at him, her fingers resting on the laptop in front of her, she looked away briefly but he just stood there waiting for her response. "I still have a lot to do," she said unable to bear the suffocating silence that lay between them.
"So you are not going home tonight?" He asked.
She looked at the screen of the laptop, at the blinking clock signifying that she already missed the last bus for the night. "I guess not, even if I wanted to go home I already missed the last bus, so I should use the night duty room and take the opportunity to do more work. Thanks to you sir I am no longer stuck so..." she trailed off.
"I'll take you home," he said and her eyes widened, take her home?
"Huh?"
"Get up, I'll give you a ride in my car" he stated and Charis' mind began to work up suffocating images of his driving her home, the last time she got into his car she didn't leave the same virgin she was.
*****************************************
ONE MONTH AGO.
It was embarrassing for Charis to watch Sebastian's drunk friend making out with her drunken friend at the side of her gray sedan and mortifying, reassuring but mortifying to watch them get into the car and drive off after hiring a driver. "So I am assuming you won't be pressing charges?" Sebastian whispered into her ears and she almost jumped by how close he sounded. Too engrossed in her embarrassment she had failed to notice when his larger body covered hers and his heads rested on her. Her stomach churned with excitement and she found herself unable to ignore it anymore. He was a gentleman though, as she began to stand up he gave her the chance to.
"I feel so embarrassed and sorry, I got angry at you earlier. You don't have to fire him, Sebastian, it was my mistake" she said softly and Sebastian wanted to pull out his hair in frustration. How was she still so innocent in this dirty world? Was she an angel or something, he was aware her feelings were hurt how could she just forgive them like that? All of this he wanted to say but more than that he just wanted more time with her alone. He wasn't going to let this go, of course not but he wouldn't completely deal with it in front of her.
"Forget about it, but this has nothing to do with your friend taking the car, yes that was a mistake but your car was taken without your knowledge this night. Even if it was the owner's risk is that the way to deal with a paying customer?" Sebastian asked the man. "Let's go, Charis, I'll drive you home." He said walking out of the room with her small hand in his.
As they walked out of the bar, Charis said nothing until they were outside, she tried to pull her hand away but Sebastian's hands tightened around it. Without needing to say anything his questioning eyes said it all, "What are you doing?"
"I can get home on my own."
"Don't you think it's already too late that? Don't argue, just get in the car and let me drive you" said Sebastian, gesturing to the black luxury SUV she saw earlier. the valet stepped out and handed Sebastian his key.
Charis was honestly not very surprised but what she was not settled with was the fact that she was here with this attractive and successful man, her, Charis Sweeney. He was elegant with everything he did, she didn't have an eye for it but not that she was paying attention she noticed the detail. How calmly he resolved that situation without yelling but passing across his displeasure, even the way he walked her around to the other side of the car to open the door and make sure she was seated. Compared to him she felt like a clumsy fool, truly, what was a civilian like her doing with a socialite like him?
"Are you comfortable? You look a little stiff" Sebastian asked as he shut his door and started the car, there was no sound, she had to pray and beg her car before she turned the key to start it but this was smooth and simple. He didn't even need the key.
She nodded, "um hmm all good."
Charis stopped breathing the moment his body came within inches of hers, she thought he was going to kiss her so instinctively her hands were around her chest. Her eyes stared into his and she heard her heart beating in her chest, then he did the most unfair thing, he smiled, reaching over her to grab her seat belt, in a fluid movement he sat back down and hooked on her belt.
Coughing loudly she tried to distract him from her red cheeks and burning throat, then looked out the window by her side and said nothing.
The car ride was quiet, with each of them observing each other, each of them in their heads with opinions about the other. but when his car pulled up to her house Sebastian began to regret enjoying the silence so much. He should have asked all he could about her.
"Well this is me," she said, "thank you for today, you were truly amazing."
"Are you always that innocent and naive in situations like that?' Sebastian asked and she palmed her face with both hands, stifling her groan she looked up at him.
"You can just say it, you think stupid and frustrating, I'm sorry I try not to be like that but I just hate confrontation, I hate it," she said.
"I don't think you are stupid and frustrating, I just said it, I think you are naive and innocent"
"Oh I am definitely not innocent" she laughed.
The car was silent again and when she looked up at him her face turned red when she noticed how intense his gaze was and how that gaze was fixed on her.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
Sebastian unbuckled his belt "like how?"
"I don't know, all so seriously" she shrugged, her hair falling over her shoulder but his finger pushed it back behind her ears, his skin coming in contact with her soft ears. She wanted to pull away because the sensations got too fierce but even with that she found out that she still couldn't.
Her breathing began to pick up when his palm settled on her face, turning her face to him again she found his gaze too intense and looked away. But his hand on the bottom of her chin lifted her face up causing her to look at him. And when she did she saw that his gaze lowered to her lips, then her eyes than her lips again, settling there.
The tension sizzling in the air was too much for poor Charis to bear, her tongue shot out caressing her lips, and with the way, his adam's apple bopped she knew it had an effect. It was a mistake she didn't intend that but who cared at this moment, every part of Charis' body cried out for this man, it was so bad the peaks on her chest hurt. She couldn't deal with the wait anymore, pushing herself upwards she shut her eyes and pressed her lips onto his. But for only a moment before she sat down again, blinking at him. What now?
