Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

As the sun began to rise, the soldiers became agitated moving like rats around the camp.

Arata had been placed in a secluded tent but shortly after the movement began, you had a visitor. The General. Who wore his glistening plate armor, he now donned a helmet crafted to look like an Oni, in a dark crimson? He removed it when he entered, bowed to her and placed it on a box by the door.

"I am sorry to have invaded your privacy and never intended to taint you Milady." He said with his head still down.

"It's alright, I really appreciate that you saved me, you know." He raised his head but did not smile. His hair was black and kept in a bun at the back of his head, strands fell forward. They were straight but a few stuck to the sweat on his forehead. His eyes were also dark and clouded. "I don't know where I am or what year it is. Could you tell me?"

"You have lost your memory?"

"Yes."

"It is the Edo period, we are nearby Fushimi, Kyoto." She blinked in confusion. The reality that she could touch, feel, see, hear and taste this dream had begun to settle in which is when she recalled the whirlpool and the lightning strike. Was it possible that she had somehow gone back in time? Surely that a trope that was overused to often to explain the science of being Isekai'd without having to create a significant amount of plot. Next, she would probably be killed and wake up with the powers of a god. But that wasn't a risk Arata was willing to take, yet.

"We are at war?"

"Yes, we are defenders of the shogunate."

Great, she thought.

"When does the battle begin?"

"We attack at dawn, when the sunrises it will blind the forces down the hill and we will descend with the sun at our backs."

"That's a smart strategy."

"Thank you, but I am not worthy of your praise." He looked at the ground again. "You have lost your memory and I must have the Shogun confirm my thoughts. But the moment I saw you in the water, I recognized you. Princess Hina? You have been missing for years and I have no doubt that your thoughts are clouded. But is that you, do you recognize me? I trained for many years beneath your older brother and fought beside him."

"I don't think that I am Hina, sorry my name is Arata." His face fell in dissapointment or exasperation.

"Where do you come from."

"The future."

"What?"

"With Netflix and land boats that run off fossil fuel."

"Excuse me, I should go, I will ask the doctor to visit again." He practically ran out of the tent.
