City M
Brugh
Ouch!
Gretta fell with her hands and knees against the deserted sidewalk. She winced in pain as she tried to sit up, when she felt unable to stand properly using her injured legs.
Sitting unconcerned with her dirty clothes, Gretta looked at the blisters on her knees and palms as she bit her lip to suppress the hiss of pain that nearly escaped her.
Uhh….
The pain began to spread, she grimaced again as red adorned her palms which were also dirty with sand.
Ukkh…, I can't walk-
Tik… Tik… Tik…
Gretta looked up at her with a heart that was unbelievably miserable.
After her bag was snatched by a stranger, now it's raining without knowing that she can't move around sitting on this street.
Sob…
Gretta's tears were already spilled, tears mixed with raindrops were getting heavier when at first it was just a dot.
Gretta covered her face with her hands full of wounds, ignoring the pain and now her shoulders were shaking and couldn't hold back the tears.
She thought her bad luck was over, but it still is and she doesn't know what to do now. In the bag was a wallet containing her ID, as well as the most valuable photos of her father and twin brother.
If it was like this, how could she find both of them in a world he just knew was vast and cruel like this?
Yes, she was too naive to think she could find both of them without knowing how harsh life was outside the mansion's fences.
She should have been strong first to find the whereabouts of the two people she loved or if she needed to marry the old man, as long as she could find the whereabouts of the two without having to go through all this trouble.
Sob…
Again a muffled sob with the sound of rain getting heavier with the addition of thunder and lightning flashing.
Zrash….
Jger!
Gretta was startled to hear that, she reflexively covered her ears immediately. Fear came to dominate again, replacing the sadness and pain she still felt.
Slowly she stood up, holding back the pain. She couldn't just sit around like this, especially if the lightning struck again.
Gretta was afraid of lightning, although it didn't make her panic too much but if she had to hear it again like a moment ago, she felt that her tears that had been mixed with rainwater would flow more heavily.
Ukkhh…
While grimacing with chapped lips, Gretta tried to walk even though she was limping. She looked for shelter and looked around as the place where she stood seemed increasingly unfamiliar to her.
Where is she currently at? Where was the shop she saw before chasing the robber? Why are there only tall buildings that seem to have been unused for a long time?
"Oh no..." Gretta whispered back almost to tears when she felt herself getting lost in the city where she lived.
God, after this what misfortune will befall me?
Not wanting to cry over fate, she stepped everywhere and returned to follow her feet.
Gretta had even hugged herself with her shoulders shaking violently, walking down an empty, uninhabited building while looking left and right looking for a safe place.
Even though she knew that out here there was no safe place for a woman like her.
Ah!
At least now she can breathe a sigh of relief, when she sees a place under the stairs where the place is closed and the important thing is not getting hit by the rain.
Thankfully…
By increasing her pace a little, Gretta finally arrived at her destination and immediately pressed against the wall, in the most hidden part and the chills subsided a little though it couldn't make her body stop shivering.
Brrr….
Her teeth chattered again, she slowly sat huddled in this corner with face hidden in her knees, hoping the warmth would at least replace the cold.
Fyuuhh…, phew….
While rubbing her hands quickly, Gretta also exhaled in her palms with steam billowing out of it, steam which indicated that the cold was not cold anymore.
"No, don't let me catch a cold from the rain," murmured Gretta worriedly.
She rubbed her palms more rapidly, then put them on her cheeks and her lips trembled again even though she was holding it.
"Cold..." she whispered.
The sound of the gurgling rain did not show any signs of stopping, instead it was getting heavier, still with lightning striking.
From a distance there was a light, which made Gretta raise her arm to block what she initially thought was a flash of lightning. She narrowed her eyes even more, when the light did not dim at all, her ears also heard the sound of the engine roaring and the chatter in front of her.
Who are they? Gretta thought curiously.
Her voice was clearly two men which scared her even more, let alone the sound of footsteps heading towards her to hide.
"That's right, what I said."
"Yeah…, it's not in vain that you followed her."
What do they mean?
With her remaining courage, Gretta finally looked right at the two people who had now grown back to four, standing with a chatter that she didn't quite understand.
Yes, incomprehensible chatter. However, the longer she listened to it, her eyes widened as she understood and saw one of the four.
"So it's right-
"You..."
Gretta's voice interrupting the conversation made the four of them stare with a smirk, immediately starting with an aura that could make her shiver again for different reasons.
If a moment ago she was shivering because of the cold, now she is shivering because she is afraid of being looked at. In such a way by four men, one of which made her remember that face even though she had just met.
The same man, when she accidentally bumped into the shoulder while daydreaming on the street some time ago.
Though, she felt she had apologized to the man. But, why did they come to her like this?
"You still remember my face, pretty?" asked the man in a witty tone that sounded very far-fetched.
Gretta looked even more wary. The alarm had gone off and her brain was telling her to get out of here right now.,
she's even in the corner, how can she escape the four men in front of her?
"What do you want?" Gretta said, without answering the boy's question the squeaking man heard it.
"You're ignoring me," the man hissed in mockery of the other three men, who laughed even more as he glared sharply. "Shut up!"
"Aw! Relax bro. How about we execute directly, right with this rainy atmosphere?"
Gretta's eyes widened instantly, when she heard another man's words, either proposing or even agreeing with one of them, words that made her feel even more scared.
Execution? What do they mean?
"Right, we can start by deciding who will be the first to taste it. Isn't that right?"
Thump!
"Right, lucky tonight because you collided with a beautiful woman! I mean really pretty to be exact."
Thump!
Tap! Tap! Tap!
After the four of them finished their words, they slowly walked towards Gretta who was shuffling away, hoping to get away even though it was all in vain now that one of them gripped her arm quite tightly.
Grip!
Akh!
"Let's have some fun."
Thump!
