Chapter 12 - Escape from reality

Restaurant San Carlo Imperia

Adrean's gleeful reply was completely ignored by Gretta, who just stared at the table disinterestedly. Gretta pushed back the chair she was sitting in and stood there for a moment.

"I'll be back for a bit." Gretta said in a toneless voice, looking straight at her grandmother who was now showing an annoyed expression.

What a fool, Gretta thought.

She just wanted to be free from the air that seemed to be suffocating him here.

"Sure, Greta," said Adrean with a nod of his head, and a hand that showed a gesture like what he said.

Adrean didn't take his eyes off Gretta at all, as if this young woman was the only one in his sight.

"Don't be long," said Karina, looking at her with a clear threat.

Gretta just nodded and immediately turned her body away from the table which was again discussing matters of her marriage later.

Gretta's departure was shown by the mother, who glanced at her with an unreadable gaze as the child's back drifted away from her desk. Then, she looked back at the front and looked down helplessly, as her mother again clarified the family ties plan.

I'm sorry, Gretta.

In the toilet crowded with all kinds of women, Gretta, who was sitting in the closet, couldn't contain her sadness. She spilled it with silent tears, before finally quickly wiping the backs of her hands roughly.

She had to get out of here or else she would hear the sickening talk again. Let the grandmother be angry, but she is sure that even the grandmother will not dare to mess around considering that she is a valuable asset.

Yes, an asset that would further enrich the Grinsons to be exact.

Gretta got up from her seat and out of the toilet cubicle, then stood in front of the sink with the wide mirror in front of it.

She put his hand under the running water and washed the man's lips over and over again, hoping that what was stuck would be washed away by the water.

Really, she felt disgusted when she recalled the man's lips kissing the back of her hand with a straight look at her.

"I have to go. But where?" she whispered. Then, she shook her head slowly and once again washed her hands thoroughly. "Anywhere, the important thing is far from here," she continued.

Then, she immediately grabbed the small bag that luckily she was carrying, then got out of the toilet and headed for the exit quickly.

Twenty minutes passed

Inside the VIP room rented by the Grinson's, the lively chatter suddenly stopped when Adrean sensed that Gretta had been in the toilet too long.

He looked at Karina who was also looking at him confused, then looked at Esmeriana who had been silent from the start.

"What's the matter, Adrian?" Karina asked.

"Hasn't Gretta been in the toilet too long?" Adrean asked back with a clear angry tone. He still wanted to talk to Gretta, a girl who he considered smart even though a little cold.

"Ah! You're right, then let us check in the toilet," said Karina with a stiff smile. Gretta's grandmother immediately looked at her daughter—Gretta's mother—Esmeriana who had been silent from the start without a word spoken in front of her. "Esme. You look for Gretta in the toilet now, she's been there too long," she continued commanding.

Esmeriana, who was ordered to not answer immediately, looked at her mother and glanced at a man who was not far from her age flatly, before finally nodding a little.

"I'll check," said Esmeriana as she got up from her seat and walked away from the dining table, leaving Karina who looked at Adrean with a reassuring smile.

Esmeriana walked with definite steps towards the toilet, until she finally arrived and entered it while occasionally opening a toilet that was not crowded. However, as long as she searched, she did not find the existence of her daughter.

"Where is she," murmured Esmeriana anxiously.

She looked again, remembering that there was not only one toilet provided by the restaurant. As a result, she went to another toilet and entered and checked one by one the cubicles there.

"There is no." Esmeriana was already starting to panic, but she tried her best to stay calm and returned to look for her daughter's whereabouts elsewhere.

She came out of the toilet and walked down another corridor, hoping that Gretta would stand or sit in one of the chairs out there.

"Gretta!"

Esmeriana called out her daughter's name anxiously, but none was called and she decided to return to the room, although she didn't know if her mother would be angry with her.

"Gretta, why are you like this," she thought anxiously.

Arriving at the door of the room, Esmeriana for a moment normalized her breathing and her facial expression became calm, then opened the door with her mother and Adrean looking at her as if impatient.

As much as possible he did not show any meaningful expression, walked over to her mother and stood in front of the two without intending to sit back down.

"Mom, Gretta isn't anywhere," Esmeriana said expressionlessly.

"What!" Karina looked at her daughter in disbelief, while Adrean exhaled trying to be patient.

"I've looked everywhere for her. But she's not there."

"How come! Search again until you find it!" Karina ordered furiously.

"I've looked everywhere in this restaurant," Esmeriana explained.

"Search again-

"Enough! No need, Mrs. Karina. It looks like Gretta is bored here and a way out, let it go," Adrean interrupted.

Although he felt a little insulted, displaying an annoyed or angry expression even though it was useless for him. But, he would make sure that if Gretta was already his, he would make the girl learn proper manners.

That stubborn woman, see you later, Adrean thought with his fists clenched under the table.

"But Mr Adre-

"It's okay, I'm fine."

Adrean interrupted quickly and looked at Karina with a small shake of his head, showing a face as if he had accepted it all. In fact, he wanted to slam the table right now.

"I'm Sorry for my granddaughter's behavior, you are indeed a good person, Mr. Adrean," said Karina with a small smile. "Watch out for you Gretta," she continued in an extremely annoyed heart.

"Does not matter."

While her family is looking for a little argument and promises to hurt the heart. On the other hand, on a bus full of passengers, sat a young girl whose appearance was completely different.

Yes, at other times wearing office clothes or ordinary clothes. The young girl was actually wearing too luxurious clothes. The girl also sat with her face facing the window and heeded a look of interest in her direction.

Never mind, she thought.

What she currently has in mind is to stay away from the place where she feels like she is dead and wants to take a breath in a cool place for a moment.

It wasn't just the gazes of interest, admiration, strangeness and curiosity that were given to this young girl. But there are also some who openly see how the back is exposed, even though the chair is covered and the mane is hanging down.

Until finally a jacket slung over her shoulder and she was shocked to see it.

Thump!
