Chapter 3 - Chapter Three

On the table sat a MRE, the main meal of it being Lemon Pepper Tuna. Anna was setting it up as I watched in interest how it cooked itself so simply.

"Sorry about the ration, but we don't have an area for cooking at the moment." She apologized, looking up at me briefly. I just waved my hand.

"This is fine, I was planning on surviving on coconuts, so.." I replied, scratching my cheek. She looked at me with narrowed eyes, handing me the bag.

"I already selected the spots for construction. Especially since you don't have a map right now." Anna informed me, cleaning my face with a handkerchief.

"Y-you needn't do that." I moved my face away, my cheeks tinging red as hers stayed expressionless, wait did she click her tongue? "Thanks though... and for choosing the construction sites." I added, lowering my head a bit as I finished the main meal, starting on the other items.

"Of course sir, it's my duty after all." She replied, taking a small bow. As she stood back up, her gaze drifted to the vehicles as they disappeared into the trees. Mine followed in suit. "The power generator is first." Anna stated. "After that the lab, then the hotel, and then the restaurant." She ended, looking up at me as though looking for approval.

"Alright, sounds good." I replied. "When will it all be done?" I asked, tilting my head. Before Anna could answer, the Chinook had returned with another load, lowering it and landing, letting more vehicles off. As I looked back at Anna, I noticed her face was red. The reason? Well, I suppose her outfit wasn't exactly intended to be near a helicopter.

"Matching the threading?" I asked her, tilting my head. As I did, her eyes narrowed. Next thing I knew I was opening my eyes to her now expressionless face above mine. A soft feeling under my head.

"Morning sir. Did you sleep well." Her question felt more aggressive then what she showed. "The power generator is finished and the lab is halfway." She informed me, staring down into what may have been my soul.

"I see... Um..." At a loss for words, I stood up, getting off her lap. The sky was already darkening now, however there was a path in the trees, and a building in the middle of being constructed a few hundred feet from the table. Moving lights indicating people working, along with the hum of tools and pounding of hammers.

I wiped my lab coat off, and picked up my bag, putting it over my shoulders. I figured it was better not to question the small maid. Looking back at her, she looked up at me inquisitively. I proceeded to walk towards the under construction building. It was decently sized, definitely bigger then the apartment I used to work in.

"So, where do we sleep? Or at least stay for the night." I asked, correcting myself. Anna then pointed at an area with about a dozen tents. "Ah, okay." I nodded, walking towards them. Soon Anna took the lead, guiding me to a tent slightly bigger then the rest. "Hm. Seems a little unfair, but okay..." I mumbled to myself as I climbed in.

"Have you checked the digsites?" Anna asked as I sat down. I tilted my head at her. In response to my body language, she took my laptop from my bag and sat in my lap, opening the lid and turning it on.

"You're a weird one." I stated mainly to myself. She ignored me, entering my password and logging into th- "Wait, hold on. How do you know my password?" She looked up at me with what seemed like sparkles in her eyes, then looking back at the computer. She shifted herself on me, getting seemingly more comfortable before going to the browser.

"See." Anna affirmed, tilting the screen up. On the screen showed a map of the earth and several "digsites" that were displayed. The team was currently in the 'Lance Formation.' "I figured this would be a good place to send them first. The Tyrannosaur is a popular specie." Anna seemed to exclaim excitedly. It felt like she may be more than an assistant at this point.

"But we don't have that high powered fencing right now..." I replied, remembering the fencing selection currently being concrete and low voltage electric fence.

"It'll be fine, it'll be fine." She repeated, waving her hand.

"I'm not sure, it feels like this may bite me later." I muttered, half to myself. "Send the next one to the "Lorihna Formation." I'm sure stegos and a ceratosaurus shouldn't be too hard." I instructed. Anna huffed, adding it to the next queue.

I spotted a research tab and leaned over Anna, taking control as I clicked it. I proceeded to the enclosure tab and clicked the "Cable Fencing" option. It costed 60k, but hopefully it was worth it. A notification popped up, informing that some Tyrannosaur fossils were uncovered and would be delivered when the lab was available. Another popped up stating it would begin mining the next area.

Anna huffed as she saw the second notification. I smiled softly. Honestly she reminded me of my younger sister. Well, not entirely, my sister is a whole lot more... demanding.

I kept browsing the computer, finding how I could setup where I wanted the structures. After a while, despite having 'napped' earlier, I had to stifle a yawn. It was then I noticed Anna was already asleep, leaning against my chest.

As I looked from the screen to down at her, I started thinking about today's events, allowing my mind to process. Honestly I wanted to know how I got here, but at the same time I wasn't sure if it was important enough to get an aneurysm over. I mean, I was alive. And really, that's all that mattered right? Not only that, but if this was all true, this was essentially a dream coming to life.

However, I just hoped my friends and family were okay. I sighed softly, wishing there was someway to contact them. I then stifled another yawn and decided to close the lid, covering the tent in complete darkness. I set the computer to the side, laying down slowly so as to not stir the small one. I stared up at where the sky would be, getting lost in thought as I let my mind fade, sleep taking over, naturally this time.
